“I am so glad you responded to my post. I misunderstood what you were trying to say. Mea culpa. I was sort of defending Schmidt, and company, saying they had a job to do, and that was of course, make the citizen from Alaska look good. They were just doing there job. Any way. I appreciate your posts. I wasn't defending Ms. Palin.”

“Gosh, I agree with everything you say. Schmidt was the good soldier and doing his job. It was his job to sell the product. I don't know if I blame him for trying to do a good job. I have a feeling they were giving her the benefit of the doubt when SP would act out. Make excuses for her. I don't know, but I do know that the staff was doing the best they could for their candidate, Mr. McCain.
I have to respect that he was trying to do the best he could with a faulty product. Thank goodness he didn't succeed.”

“You make a fair point moongal6. "I have to respect that he was trying to do the best he could with a faulty product".
It doesn't excuse that he is greatly responsible (the buck stops with McCain) for her selection but there is a prop to be given for the fact that he signed on for a job, knew the job description, and tried to fulfill his duty. That's more than I can say for Palin who seemed to think that the ticket read "Palin-McCain 2008". It defeated the ticket, thank goodness.
The stakes were too high though. I'm remembering an article here from awhile back where John Edward's people became aware of the affair and his lies and the destruction he was about to unfurl. They'd decided it seems (though they argued about this later) that if he came too close to a primary win they'd themselves leak to the press because they knew this could throw the election should he be the candidate....so while I take your point and can admire that measure of the man I still can't respect Schmidt ultimately. I don't know about you but it took me all of 2 views of the woman talking and some reading up to know that Sarah Palin was totally unqualified. After 8 years of Bush-Cheney and the wreckage they left - Sarah Palin overseeing a major financial crisis and 2 wars? Steve??”

Does Humana Have a Free Speech Right To Mislead The Elderly?

“Again, the cuts are not in services, they are cuts to the profit margin for the Insurance Companies who accommodate the Medicare Advantage program. The 10 year plan does not remove the Medicare Advantage Program, it only cuts the insurance companies profit margin. And they are mad as he// about it.”
wizegeye replied on Sep 24, 2009 at 22:31:08
“The cuts may not be in services, but that will be the net effect. The Senate bill needs to address the effects on the seniors who will likely have their services limited. That's the reality based on the way the program was set up.”

“I am sorry, but I must respond to your post.
Insurance companies, such as Humana, accommodate the corrupt program known as Medicare Advantage. These companies, such as Humana, that provide services through the Medicare Advantage programs receive a HIGHER reimbursement rate than other insurance companies. Humana receives 14% reimbursement rate, through the ADVANTAGE program. The current plan in congress is to pare down these higher reimbursement rates to the profit bloated companies such as Humana, that are providers for the ADVANTAGE program. The excess profits loss is what Humana is complaining about.
This company is trying to tell it's customers there will be cuts in there Medicare, when in reality there will be no cuts in service, only a cut in Humana's profits.”

“The bottom line is that in many parts of the country, especially poor rural areas, Medicare Advantage is all seniors have. If Congress wants to make such drastic cuts in the program, then it should figure another way to provide these people with the health insurance they need. Eliminating Medicare Advantage without providing an alternative is not the answer.”

“The so called cuts in Medicare, in the next ten years are not cuts in service, they are cuts into the 14% reimbursement rates that companies such as inHumana are currently receiving. Do you understand this? These cuts in their profits will most certainly be passed on to the consumers in the form of higher co pays, etc. In humane companies such as Humana, will have no problem trying to gouge the consumer if they lose part of their profit margin.”
wizegeye replied on Sep 24, 2009 at 22:24:43
“No need to be condescending. The federal government set up Medicare Advantage. I'm only describing the effect of the cuts. The cuts will result in less services to those who participate in the program. That's the reality regardless of the reasons.”

“When these insurance companies signed on with the corrupted Republic*n Medicare Reform Act of 2003, which includes Medicare D and Medicare Advantage, they promised not to do this kind of propaganda. It was part of the rules they had to abide by in order to get the 14% reimbursement rate from Medicare, rather than the 3-4% reimbursement rates all the other insurance companies get.
These companies that accommodate Medicare Advantage, such as inHumana, broke the rules.

“First, Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage) was signed into law by Bill Clinton, not George W. Bush. It was originally called Medicare+Choice, then renamed by the Bush Administration. Get your facts straight.
Second, what is this 3-4% reimbursement rate you speak of? Are you talking about profit margin? If so, Humana's net profit margin in 2008 was 2.4%, which should make you ecstatic.
Third, Humana did not lie. No rules were broken. Never impede upon free speech!
I am a liberal democrat and Obama supporter. As a liberal, I support free speech. Many people do not like big corporations -- I get it. But do not turn this into a witch hunt. If you don't like corporations then stop shopping at Target and driving Toyota and wearing Puma.
And don't buy health insurance. Health insurance is simply a payment mechanism for health care. You do not need health insurance. Doctors take cash, as well.
But of course, if you can not afford what doctor's charge, then you should consider a plan from Humana to help you pay for it.”
