“Maybe his father is really happy about the way Carrie Underwood sang the songs. Hell anyone can act. And besides it was a stage production. You don't have the luxury of having do overs if the scene doesn't turn out right. All in all I thought she did an outstanding job in singing and a good job in acting.”

“"Anybody can act"? Ever watch Keana Reeves? wow.”
“Absolutely disgusting. Might as well change the name of our country to "Corporate America". Land of the haves and have not's I hope that the other nations will continue to resist the proposals offered. Surely there must be proposals out there but as usual president Obama swill not in any way even consider them..”
“Oh I believe in the right of a fair trial by jury and the constitution makes it a right for everyone. But tell me what type of defense do you think this young man has? His lawyer could say he was abused, mentally incompetent and so forth. But these facts could be presented to a grand jury and used to determine if a trial is warranted.
And if there is doubt, then yes proceed with a trial. If there is no doubt then sentence the individual. And if it takes a jury to determine the type of punishment, then so be it.”

“I have no idea, but then again neither do you. to make a pronouncement on guilt based on what is alleged by the "state" is not only unfair it is pretty silly given recent events”

“Your right. The Caucasian race is easily being assimilated and will become the minority. So we might have to learn other languages as well. But economically speaking we better stick with the English language.”

“When I was in school we started in the 8th grade to pick a language and it continued through High School. Spanish, French or German. But I took Spanish but all the friends and co-workers I know of hispanic origin spoke english because that was helpful making a living.”
“To bad that a grand jury cannot make the decision as to whether or not a trial is warranted. If there is a preponderance of evidence that he did it then go straight to the sentencing and get it over with. Of course this would never happen.”

“The standard in criminal cases is not a "preponderance of the evidence." It's "beyond a reasonable doubt."”
amdezurik on Dec 5, 2013 at 08:59:42
“so you want a grand jury where a suspect is not allowed to present any kind of defense or be represented by a lawyer to be the determination of "justice"? how soviet of you...”
“I think that the words "frost bitten" were added to generate sympathy. And true we don't know the full story. But he does have a gift and that cannot be denied.
His reason for being homeless might be based on a lot of factors. Some of them might be psychological. And maybe that he chooses to live that way, I don't know.
But he is contributing to society via his music. But bear in mind that there are many who are not homeless who take more from those around them by way of scams, secret lives and criminal activities, then he does, and they are employed, have families, etc. So don't be to quick to judge someone because of their appearance or their life style.”
“Sad that a symbolic instrument has to become a battleground for dissidents and believers alike. I guess it is okay to disagree to the point where one's voice is heard and tolerated. Just for arguments sake why not just call it a tree? It won't be long though before any symbolism regarded as religious in nature will be outlawed and when that happens what a sad state of affairs our nation will be reduced to. And to make it worse there is no other country one can move to escape religious persecution.”
“Really! Birth control at the basic level such as condoms and birth control pills can be bought at any pharmacy. And it has only been offered through "Obamacare" as far as I know of. I would like to know what full medical coverage's that the males receive over the female. And the rest of your comments are speculative and without merit.”
“Then let the pills be prescribed by a physician who deals in those areas as they would be covered under the appropriate portion of the health plan. But to make the pills available for all I believe is wrong. That takes the responsibility away from the individual.
And lets face it. No matter what birth control plans you put in place there will many individuals out there who will engage in unprotected sex.”
“Where in my statement does it say that sex is nasty?”
nvrbl on Nov 27, 2013 at 14:18:01
“Birth control is medical care. We have an entire reproductive system. Many conditions are treated with hormones. Why should my employer have any say? Why should he be able to harm female employees by denying them coverage and provide full coverage to his male employees? What is next? Wage and job discrimination because women must be subserviant to men according to the employer's religion?”
“Oh sure. Lets live in a society where individual responsibility will cease because everything will be covered by something. There is nothing in my statement that does not deny the benefits of birth control. So guess I am not the only clueless one.”
“Why should an employer be required to provide contraception as part of their health coverage plan? Are we so irresponsible as human beings that others have to make those decisions for us in order to keep us from making unhealthy life choices?”
“Should any company be forced to pay for birth control measures? NO!
If the individual wants to have protected sex then let them pay for it out of their own pockets.”

“It is called preventive healthcare. Just because you think sex is nasty is no reason to deny women the insurance coverage that they pay for.”
Advokeet on Nov 27, 2013 at 10:02:44
“Birth control pills are used far more than for birth control....it is used as a medication to reduce cysts and tumors for starters and much more. Consider, too, women who should not become pregnant for medical reasons. Why should women be denied of this medical health care coverage.”

“Another clueless trashbagger. There are real medical benefits to birth control. Try to find some time today to actually inform yourself.”
“Creating high standards in order to graduate would be fine if every child would be able to meet them. And you don't have to accommodate those who fail to achieve those standards. Just let them drop out of school and take the GED in lieu of completing those courses that could better prepare them for life. That seems to be the way our educational system works at the present time. I believe we both agree in principle that education plays a significant role in our lives. Our ideas on the subject just varies a little bit. Thank you for your insight and comments.”
“I don't believe that deleting one course is going to degrade the standards for graduating. There should be just as much emphasis on reading as there is in math. I hear time and time again that kids going to college barely read at the 6th or 7th level. Maybe we need to change our standards with emphasis on reading first.”
