So the question is, why the violent riots in response to a jaywalker being struck?....Seemingly, there must be smoldering anger and resentment among ethnic Indians against the ethnic Chinese majority.”

“It's certainly true that individual members of Congress are often contemptible persons. But to mock an investigatory committee demonstrates utter contempt for Democratic governance, the Constitution and the American people.......My basic point is that Americans never voted the NSA unelected, unaccountable tyranny into power. So, since it was not imposed by the "consent of the governed", it is unconstitutional, illegal and immoral......It is also evident that it will never be unimposed by Democratic means.”

VitriolAndAngst on Dec 9, 2013 at 05:24:34

“You'd be mocking Congress too if you had pictures of Newt dressed up in garters spanking a hired call girl.

Until we get Campaign Finance Reform and pay for elections and end lobbying, we won't get totally corrupt and easy to compromise fools in Washington, who are all at the mercy of internal spying.

THEN, and only then can we actually have a Congress that can and will force a security state to some standard of integrity.

I'm sure it's nearly impossible for NSA chiefs or the Feds to sit through a dog and pony "hearing" in Washington and not want to break out in laughter.”

Bethany Quartz on Dec 9, 2013 at 05:23:59

“Agreed. The real fear is foreign governments barring citizens from using US-based internet services (this is buried in the article, but it's the only real threat to their profits, since most Americans are going to be forced to put up with being spied whether we want it or not). If these tech companies had guts instead of greed motivating them, they'd be coming up with more ways all of us could avoid the NSA, but they wouldn't risk a drone strike sending them flying out of their cushy office chairs.”

“Why would the police "block" the hospital? Radiation sickness is not contagious. What if there are additional victims who are now "blocked" from medical treatment?.....Have police "blocked" the dying victims from escaping?.......Why should people suffering from other ailments be "blocked" from the hospital?........When governments tell you part of a story, and the other part is "blocked"......There is a reason. And it is usually a nasty dirty reason, involving political skullduggery.”

“What about preventing innocent people from being injured or killed by the thieves or from becoming hostages?”

FromtheHeartland on Dec 6, 2013 at 15:47:32

“I think your questions will be answered when the media all starts telling the same story. There have been reports that it is on 2 people not six, reports that the police are at the hospital to see if anyone else shows up with the symptoms not blocking it. There were reports that a daycare across from the hospital was closed then it was the day care was near where the container holding the radioactive material discarded. We have to wait for the media to get the facts and then they will retract what they got wrong.”

parlimentMike on Dec 6, 2013 at 15:46:37

“Perhaps the loot has not been entirely recovered, and they don't want the whereabouts shared with the wrong people.

Or maybe a horde of reporters descending on them is not an enticing proposition for the hospital.”

GarethJonesLives on Dec 6, 2013 at 15:23:05

“That was the typical local Mexican police overreaction to situations they don't understand, but the hospital is open now. They were concerned they still had radioactive material on them even though all of it was recovered 2 days ago. They closed the hospital until the HazMat team could run Geiger counters over them. The 6 perpetrators are in an isolation wing in handcuffs. The rest of the hospital is open. Besides that, Pachuca has several hospitals.

Sorry to ruin your conspiracy theory before it had a chance to gain any traction. I'm sure you can dream something else up before the day is out.”
