“Texas and Florida that I know for sure..but look it up to confirm for yourself. I just happen to hear about why people are moving to some states and looked it out for myself, and it checks out. I know for a fact of a a couple who made the move with an eye on protecting what they have. The only thing you cannot protect is money in a non retirement account. A lot of folks go to the pre-paid cards route, have their money deposited there..lot s more tricks, I just have not investigated it thoroughly ...right now I wish I had, so I could tell you more.”

“Maybe I am really losing it, but it makes me wonder...i s that why they passed the legislation before they unleashed this deluge...b ankruptcy was a simpler affair before...n ow it costs between 2-5k, for someone thinking of filing bankruptcy, that;s an astronomical amount. I understand what you are saying about going cash, but I wonder how many are living off credit cards right now. That's all they got left.”

“They made it more difficult because it is easily gamed if you know what you're doing. They want to discourage it but they cant stop it entirely. If people are living off credit cards, they are doing something wrong. Cut stuff you can't afford out of your life. If everyone did that, prices would fall for a great many things.”

“I have a concern about the millions of people who got sucked into this last bubble. With all these people with ruined credit, and credit card bills, HELOC;s, mortgages and what have you, they are sitting ducks for people like this to feed on. For years they will be the ones that the banks, insurance companies, landlords etc to feed on. They don't have a choice, all doors have been slammed shut. They even get discriminated against to get a job! Jeeeeze, you might as well have a felony!
This should be addressed. We cannot marginalize such a large majority of our population and allow them to be preyed on. Why do you think the Texas population is growing? In Texas they cannot take your home, garnish your wages, take your car, and the allowance on what is exempt is extremely generous.”

“The next bubble is already here. Look at oil (and therefore food, gas etc.). Free money from the Fed (0%) finds its way into the economy where it bids everything up. Housing will be the victim this time as cost of living makes it harder and harder for Americans to make ends meet. If everyone saved and used cash - the economy would be on MUCH MUCH MUCH stronger footing (assuming we cleared most of our debt somehow).”

“If you don't adapt, you will not succeed. The world is a different place than when Ronnie was on the scene. Right now the worst prescription for America is less government, less regulation, and the removal of safety nets...esp ecially the last one. It is the only thing preventing riots on the streets. Melding with the religious right deeply fractured this country that was founded on the separation of church and state. Wars are not a stimulus to the economy. Abortion, marriage, and who people decide to sleep with is none of the governments business.
Last 8 years has shown that the the path the republicans believe in is fatally flawed, in every arena. Time to reflect and define a new way, be a leader, don't copy someone who's been gone for decades. Define a new paradigm.”

“Iacocca engineered a brilliant turn around. His mission was to rebuild a company Now the focus is on squeezing what you can for the next quarter earnings.
Sad...seem s like the movement at one time for excellence, vision, teamwork and injecting vibrancy into an organization is gone. There was a time when the goal was to forge almost an organic whole from the sum of the parts in human resources. Now it's just how much you can strip off the carcass of the companies left.
For a bit I was impressed with Smisek's stand, until I read the part that Continental would be posting a gain for the year in any case. So he probably does not really have to do without, great theater though..”

“I have been vocal as heck about the financial issues, but that's my thing. We all have our niche. I wear the team jersey and I can call them as I see them. There is no way I would vote for a republican. The bums we got better get their game on with the money, cos lord knows, it's getting kind of scarce for people down here. The other guy lost already. We can't bring back Pleasantville. We are not a homogeneous group of holy rollers. Arugula and Dijon, we are moving on...
Enough with http://www .huffingto npost.com/ comment/po licy/e/e banks. Show me you really care, put a 4% cap on all residential loans. No process needed. They can do it within 30 days, just like they can hike up CC interest rates in that amount of time.. No more carping about how the "losers" get a better deal. Everyone gets it. If you can't afford that, you are probably toast to begin with. I don't care if investors get a deal on it too. There are too many houses. If everyone can get a low interest loan, they have more money in their pockets, they will buy and sell. Why not? The banks get their money at close to 0, and don't give me the moral hazard stuff. When the government shafted the bond holders on GM and presented the spoils to UAW, they did not blink an eye.
That's for starters.. .”

“Dig deeper into Taibbi's resume, and the journalism he was practicing during the implosion of the economy in then USSR, was pretty darn good, makes Liesman of CNBC look like the suck up he is. I follow Taibbi's growth in his craft with interest. His language is not formal, that is fine with me. To get everything right in this huge debacle with so many moving parts is almost impossible, you miss one angle and the whole picture gets skewed.
He has strong opinions, I love his passion. I tend to read as many viewpoints as I can to form my own, which then keeps changing. He is finding his voice, which is good, because I feel he is on the right path in voicing what is percolating in the universal consciousness, help us crystallize it, so to speak...I will not dismiss him so casually.”

“The vast majority of Taibbi's writing is designed to reach a pre-ordained conclusion.
His language is usualyl over-the-top, and his research, such as it is, is sloppy and haphazard, and dismisses facts which do not support the conclusion he reached before the writing began.”

“Is it just me? I have such a strong feeling, foreboding, that this is gaining too much momentum. Unless we take action now, at this tipping point, we are doomed to decades of genteel or maybe even brutal poverty. Your vote will not work, the whole system is complicit in this takeover. I ask again, what do we do now?
I have great respect for inertia, it has almost a death grip on most people. This operation has unfolded in slo-mo before our very eyes. You know how this is going to end. The government for/by/of the people is GONE.”
