Do You Agree with President Carter's Comments?

“When you live in a place (California, NYC for two) where there are lots of residents who have moved from different regions you have less of this feeling of being threatened by a 'foreign' group as you have mostly been separated from your own tribe. When I was a young Irish Catholic, having a friend who wasn't Irish Catholic was odd. Marrying one was unacceptable. It's almost laughable today. Hope in future decades we will be able to laugh at a time when we wondered if someone was an American because he was black.”

“Without much effort ran across 2 threats to Obama (and other Dems in the govt) in a matter of about 1 hour. These people need to be reported. None of us is trained to know who is a serious threat.”

“Funny that the people who are so 'rabidly' opposed to today's govt had no problem with money for war or tax breaks for the rich. Their objection is when their money is redistributed to people who are less fortunate than they are. This is the definition of Christian Conservative: tax me for killing in other countries OK; tax me to help the hungry, homeless and sick: stop big govt. Jesus would not recognize these people as Christians in my opinion.”

“To have F. Zakaria and Lou Dobbs on the same network boggles the mind. Lou Dobbs promotes many falsehoods with a vengeance. This one is not the first. Now it seems he will stay on the Gates' controversy to do whatever damage he can do there. Last I heard his ratings are down 30%. Hopefully they will keep dropping and he will move on with his nasty smirk.”

“Thank you, Dr. My husband's insurance (Blue Shield) just went up more than 20%. That is the second time in one year. He pays $6,000 per year plus a $4,000 deductible. That represents 50% of our income. How much higher can it go before we just stop getting care or stop paying the medical bills.”

CNN's Five Most Annoying "Personalities"

“Can't agree with you. We actually switch to CNN when TJ is on. He doesn't show any point of view and is respectful in all interviews. Wolf Blitzer, however, we change back to MSNBC when hs is on. Lou Dobbs could take all five places. Misreports facts and never corrects himself or apolgizes. A dangerous more than annoying broadcast.”

“You're right about TJ. I think he's okay. He lost me the other day though when he went along with the 100 Days of Swagga by the President. I was a little put off by that one. I mean how does one think that just b/c President Obama is 1/2 black he has to have 'swagga'?”

“Pro choice is just that. We believe that people should have the choice to make their own decision to complete or terminate a pregnancy. To force your religious views on someone else puts you on par with those who would forbid women to refuse sex or any other thing you don't believe in. Whether or not I personally believe in abortion, I don't believe I have the right to force my views on those who disagree with me and/or my religion.”

“I heard this elsewhere but continue to spread it around. Many of the 'pro-lifer' politicians are really pro-birth. They oppose any support to children and/or the poor. If you are a young worker at WalMart for example and maybe going to school part time, how would you survive with a baby? Who will pay for your medical care and, perhaps your loss of job while you delivered the baby if you opted for adoption? As a lifelong Catholic I have never been so disgusted with the leaders of the church. No condoms for Africa. No interest in hearing a president who is fighting the poor (used to THEIR job). Much more comfortable with war mongers who oppose providing health care, improving education and raising the minimum wage. It is no wonder they are losing Catholics. Dear Caroline: stay away from the Vatican! A Pope who would let people die from AIDS rather than provide them condoms is bad karma.”

It's a Three-Man Race: Obama vs The Two McCains
Commented Aug 20, 2008 at 13:30:44 in Politics
“One of the simple arguments Obama could use is that McCain call shimself a Federalist. His big issues, drilling and abortion (Maybe more), would be state issues. He will hide behind the fact that California will vote against drilling. Maybe Florida will too. Even on national issues (judges) he acts as if the Presisdent alone has the power to make these things happen. He wil have a Democratic Congress and, perhaps Senate. As I listen to McCain this morning revving up antiPutin fervor and making him the new Saddam Hussein, I just hope there are enough Americans who recognize they are being hoodwinked.”

McCain's 1968 Heroism Can't Excuse His 2008 McCarthyism
Commented Jul 31, 2008 at 15:18:46 in Politics
“Forty years ago, McCain did an honorable thing. When he got home, he dishonorably ditched the wife who waited for him because she was fatter and disfigured from a near fatal car accident and he had a new, younger and wealthier wife waiting in the wings. The Reagans were appalled by his behavior and, I think Ross Perot helped to support McCain's first wife. With the recent attacks, we are beginning to see the real John McCain: an opportunistic and mean person. Other than refusing to take early release, what good has McCain done in the last forty years?”

He has many times during this campaign looked like he was going to have a stroke, shaking his finger and turning red in the face. He needs to take a vacation.
