“What the public also wanted was the opportunity to get coverage outside the employer market, at a reasonable price, and the power not to have insurance companies deny or bounce you for having ever had the nerve to have actually seen a doctor before. The public wanted to get coverage for the 45 million currently without coverage, and to end abuses. This does a fair amount of that, though it doesn't do enough about costs.”

This kind of stuff worked well while they were in the minority or had a small majority but after telling voters REPEATEDLY that their majority wasn't large enough to do anything substantial to help the people, now that they have it it's become obvious they are no better than their counterparts.
Once again, an amendment (stupak) was allowed to make it into a bill in the house causing voters to get riled up and scream no no no. As a result, that can be tossed along with the PO (compromise you know) and victory will be declared. A form of bait and switch.”
