““No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.” – Thomas Jefferson”

“What people don't understand is that is a last resort. Only after the 1st amend. fails. But just the fact that the people ARE armed is enough to keep the Gov. honnest. That looming specter is enogh to keep the politicians scared (or should) with never a shot fired. But dissarm the Citizens & that fear goes away & greed for power takes over. History is littered with the bodies of citizens killed by their own governments.”

“While I admire the libertarian views of Thomas Jefferson especially since he was a Natural Law advocate, I seriously doubt his comments apply to today's weapons of mass destruction and no one seriously believes a militia will be worth a "hill of beans" against today's modern armies. You can't possibly be that naive - can you?”

“Schools also need safe rooms. Imagine yourself behind a locked door that can be pierced by bullets and hoping being silent will make you safe.”

“we can't afford to build news school nor fix the ones that need repairs, not to mention all the other ways we have failed education in this country, where would you get the funding for that id you don't want your taxes raised to pay for books??”

“continued... It is estimated that approx 130,000 dedicated minimum wage perfectly sane non-bully very mature non-perverts who all know how to protect and save wounded children will be needed to guard one single door in all the schools. Estimated cost for one super-soldier in each school is only around 3.2 billion. All the NRA has to do is multiply that number by how many doors and intersections there are in each school and each year put that money into the payroll account.
Andnow, sincethe childrenhave everything they needto besafe, theNRA canput it's focusback onsupplying as many people asthey can withthe delusions that theonly wayto besafe isto buy moreguns.
When the NRA gets word of my idea, they will probably hire me to organize it all. And when those kids are studying science and math, they will look up and see dedicated men and women with guns on one side of the room, and a PANIC room on the other side of the classroom, and then outside at the swarms of bad people all over with guns just itching to find themselves an innocent kid to shoot, they will know that the police state they live in is the only utopia they will ever know.
Yep. Good times coming. And nothing can go wrong. The people with guns are free to roam the yards and streets, and all the kids are safe all the time surrounded by dedicated Life Guards of The United States of America.”

“I'm imagining the trek from wherever I might be and then trying to get to the safe/PANIC room on the other side of the building. Video games could help because when it happens, the trek would be just like the game. For the children, they would need PANICrooms in every classroom and a PANIC room in each regular room in the school.
Yep, this is the way to go. But the kids, and we should protect adults too at work and in restaurants with PANIC rooms, still won't really be safe unless of course all the little kids get intensive training on avoiding getting shot before entering the PANIC room. They should also be given tranquilizers all day because the PANIC displayed by tiny innocent babies when shots are fired becomes out of control. In addition, they will need to be tested periodically with loud bangs during the most somber of times at school to hopefully teach them that all bangs and loud noises aren't always from guns and danger.
Also, since they stopped using armed guards at banks because they couldn't stop banks from being robbed, we know that there will have to be an armed guard posted at almost every door and hallway intersection at the school and bathrooms. Since the NRA is so committed to safety (and taxes for poor people only), they can easily afford to pay the salaries of the dedicated, minimum wage, their-own-lives-on-the-line-army of Life Guarders. continued”

“No kidding, As I have followed the political arena, moreso in the last 6 months than ever, All I have seen is incompetence, and a total lack of "street smarts" and any other kind for that matter. Poor judgement, inexperience, childish argueing and lack of ability to get anything done. Personal interest and gain/selfserving wishy-washy milk toast wimps. (Did I miss anything?)
I'm dissapointed in the lack of ability in Washington and all the corruption. I worry about the direction we are being taken, and the motives of the people taking us there. We certainly need some new blood and fresh faces, ousting these perk sucking, career politicians, from Obama, all the way down, both sides of the Aisle.”
