“We believe that we are the only line of defense standing between law-abiding citizens who deserve to live in drug-free neighborhoods and bad guys driven by greed to line their pockets with the blood-soaked riches of a destructive trade.
First, there has never been a drug-free society.
Second, if you really want to put a stop to the flow of blood soaked profits of a destructive trade, stop the wars. All wars. The wars on drugs, tactics (terrorism), immigrants, the constitution, etc.
Third, if you're serious about ending the deaths from drug abuse as well as the deaths from the trafficing of drugs - legalize, tax, and regulate them. Spend the money on helping to inform and educate people instead of incarcerating them. It's less expensive than prison too. But then you guys wouldn't get to play with your cool toys and act all macho and shit and show everyone's who's boss.
It also helps keep the class divisions going while making you guys look like "heroes." LOL”
“I know I'm going to get blasted for saying this, but I believe that all of this Fox entertainment/Republican noise machine crap could have been avoided if Reagan hadn't done away with the fairness doctrine. I know re-instating it won't work. It's hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube.
We are learning the hard way that the Republican mission to de-regulate everything is a really bad idea. Some how we didn't think about why we regulated things in the first place? I guess It's hard to learn those kind of lessons though when you're blinded by greed and/or fear.”

“music wrote supporting return of the fairness doctrine.
Tell me music, how exactly does the fairness doctrine work? The entire premise of the fairness doctrine was that every presented view had to be complimented by an opposite view.
Here's the problem: Who decides what the opposite point of view is? Is that person or entity above all worldly concerns that they can rightly decide what the opposite point of view is? To me, there are multiple ways any issue can be looked at, not just two. if there are more than two, how many times does any particular point of view need to be vetted until all angles are satisfied? It would never end and it would never be as fair as we would hope.
If Progessivism's ideas are so wonderful, why has Air America been a resouding thud in the marketplace?
As for deregulation, i do not think allowing the financial community to self regulate was ever a good idea. However, I do think the massive fraud, deceit, and lack of enforcement in the financial community was enabled by both republican and democratic adminstrations for years and years. Perhaps we could find some mutual agreement here.
“Your point might have some truth to it if, and only if, Fox news could even remotely be considered a ligitamate news agency. Their are very few real journalists or news agencies left these days. Journalists today simply have two or more people on a panel of "experts" that spew lies or opinions and the "journalist" wraps things up with "there you have it - were out of time. We'll have to leave it there."
The journalists job USED to be to do research and interview people to actually find facts and to get as close to the truth as possible. Not anymore. And all of society loses as a result. Thanks so much to all the "news" organizations that sold us all out for a profit and short lived "fame."
Imagine if Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein had had the journalistic attitude of today.”
“This is just sad. All white folks angry with a president that hasn't been in office a full year yet.
"Excuse me, sir/madam - here, you dropped you racism. Please go throw it in the trash where it belongs."”

“I wonder if these folks at the "idiots tea party" realize that it is not just Obama that they oppose, but all of us who support him?
This "tea party" is an explanation of why you can't idiot-proof the USA.....they keep coming up with new and improved idiots!”
“How many times has ABC, CBS, NBC, or any other non-fox network ever put up a chyron that identifies a Republican as a Democrat but only when the Republican is caught doing something illegal or immoral?
Fox is up 3 to 0.
“"no ones experience should play a role in their rulings or else one judge would find in favor of me and another in favor of you."
With this logic no one would qualify to be a Judge. I'm sure you meant that a Judge's personal experiences shouldn't interfere with their professional judgments or rulings which , of course, is part of the job requirement. Are you conservatives so ignorant as to not see?”
He only won the second election because he scared the sh*t out of people with his "war on a tactic of violence" or "terror". He was handed his first Presidency by the courts.
Bush's only "accomplishment" was to ignore multiple warnings about imminent attacks and then brag that he kept us safe after being hit. But like everything Republicans screw up, it's the liberal media that is to blame.”
“Ms. Jackson's idiocy reminds me: As Kirsti Ally said about herself in an episode of Cheers - "I am to stupid to live!"
That's you Victoria. What a shame. You and Dennis Miller are great examples of people who used to be funny but now are just sad and pathetic.”
“One notable difference at HP and other progressive sites - we may not like Sarah but unlike our Conservative counter-parts, no one is calling for her to be assassinated, exiled, or for terrorists to bomb Alaska.
Which always makes it laughable that Conservatives think they're the "Christian" party.”

Well, I'd go along with "exiled," maybe. We could send her to Siberia to keep an eye on Putin.”

“But that type of hateful, violent thinking IS Christian, or at least the mainstream type of Christianity we have now. It's a faith based on hating those different than you, fearing those different than you, and wanting to rid the world of those different than you. This is irrefutable.”
“We're all shaking in our collective boots because miss Sarah is all pissed off at those pesky blogger's for reporting things. It's the same B S as her being "attacked" by having someone ask her questions.
Hey Sarah TAKE A BIG GIRL PILL AND GROW UP!”

“It's not slander and it is the first amendment that's protecting all these bloggers, the media, etc. Again, she blames everyone but herself for her problems, while all these terrific bloggers are writing pieces that have been fact-checked again and again and are writing the truth.
The truth hurts, especially if you're Sarah Palin.”
“Mr Aborn--if your proposals actually were common sense and reasonable--the NRA would not oppose them.
As if common sense has EVER been entertained by the NRA. If it had, this country's rate of death by firearms would be much lower. Common sense dictates that if you can go into a gun store and have to submit to rules and regulations before purchasing a firearm but you can go to a gun "show" and purchase one (or a dozen) without the rules and regulation part - you should fix the loop hole. Not the NRA. Their track record speaks for itself.”

“Gun shows are not magical places where laws are suspended, as some would have you believe.
Every law that applies outside of a gun show applies just the same inside.
All of the same rules and regulations still apply.
All of the same forms and background checks must be done.”

“Read your bible. The following is a taste of what the bible tells us to do.

Death for Cursing Parents
1) If one curses his father or mother, his lamp will go out at the coming of darkness. (Proverbs 20:20 NAB)

Death for Adultery

“Of course, the "Christian" right doesn't have much to do with the teaching or life of Jesus of Nazareth either. It is really kind of hypocritical for them to even call themselves Christians. It is kind of like a neo-con referring to himself as conservative... makes a true conservative want to puke.”
DavidDial on Jun 21, 2009 at 22:01:18
“Every bit of this is old testament. Admittedly, the "Christian" right seems to be more enamored with the old testament than they are with the new but it would be a mistake to think that these references have much to do with the teaching or life of Jesus of Nazareth.”

“A question to all of the people who, legally or illegally carry hand guns or concealed weapons - are you prepared to kill another human being? Taking the life of a dangerous and threatening deer is one thing, but killing another person even in self defense is a very different thing.”

“It is true that taking a life, even in self defense, is a terrible thing that is hard to do and harder to get over.
However, getting raped, injured, or killed, or watching that happen to someone you know because you are unable to protect yourself and loved ones is even worse. That's why I carry a gun everywhere I am legally permitted to do so. I am prepared to take a life in self defense because I know the alternative is far worse.”
