“It's all over. The last inning and the mighty Obama has struck out. No joy in Mudville. The team goes out empty-handed and it wasn't much of a fight. Some say it was a fix- that the players and the Captain were paid off to throw the game. Big money wins again.”

Can the Obama White House Course-Correct in Time to Avoid Hitting the 2010 Iceberg?

Commented Dec 15, 2009 at 17:15:38 in Politics

“"Reality" for Presidents and all the other Pols is getting re-elected. Nothing else comes close. Unfortunately, Obama doesn't have much of a game plan and even if he did it probably wouldn't play very well after he completely betrayed our trust and "forgot" about all of his campaign promises- completely. The watered-down, almost useless HCR bill, if and when it ever gets passed, isn't really going to change anything for anybody for a very long time. At best, it could be a starting point for significant changes in our Health Care delivery system. Climate change is dead, nothing is being done about the 15% (or more) of the work force who are out of a job and god only knows what is going to happen in Education. Mr. Obama gives himself a B+? For what?”

Obama Online -- Where Are the Young Supporters?

Commented Oct 23, 2009 at 10:24:56 in Technology

“Could Barack Obama be the Trojan Horse, now inside the White House with the powers that will bring down American democracy and the the real American way of life? Have we unwittingly created a monster that could destroy the country in a final fight to the death between the forces of peace, democracy and compassion and the fat cats of Wall Street and the tea baggers of Main Street?

We shouldn't wait to find out - it will be too late by then. We've got to re-organize and launch a movement to force the President to honor his campaign promises and give us back the government he promised or face defeat in 2010.”

Susan Axelrod and Joe Biden Should Register as Heath Care Lobbyists

Commented Sep 02, 2009 at 13:31:00 in Living

“Good on you, Mr. Peele
As an ex-alcoholic who woke up one morning two years ago and decided that "enough was enough" after more than fifty years of limping along on my alcoholic crutch, I decided why and how I needed to stop and did it for myself because I couldn't afford to waste any more nights or mornings under the influence or after-effects of alcohol. The last thing anybody who drinks to excess needs is an excuse to continue and a legal cop-out is just another excuse.
I think Biden is a perfect example of the kind of politician we don't really need and I can't understand why Obama ever took him on but perhaps "the great pragmatist" has some secret agenda that will de exposed in the future”

Is Health Care Reform Possible Without Caring For The Providers?

Commented Aug 11, 2009 at 15:00:48 in Living

“Just using the term "Socialized medicine" demonstrates a serious lack of objectivity and political naivete or serious bias. Can you, or anyone you know actually define socialized medicine? Have you ever lived for an extended period in a country with a single payer system? E.g. the U.K., France, the Scandinavian countries etc.? Do you think that the system as it now stands, is "the best of all possible worlds?"

While the idea of dying in a confusing state, as in an air-crash is not appealing, wasting away as did Farah Fawcett is far more horrifying to me. To see the full-spectrum of human emotion and analysis is what gives me the most value at this site, not myopic ritualistic conformity to "how it's supposed to be."

“Mrs. Child was the judge at a ( an?) Heart Association Chef's competition in Santa Barbara some years ago that I participated in. The concept was "light" food which at that time was rather revoloutionary. After tasting the assembled Chefs' offerings, Julia made some polite noises like "very nice" or words to that effect but as she was leaving the M.C. asked her "On the whole, what do you think of our "Heart Healthy" fare? Julia turned around and smiled at us all and said "Personally, I would have used a little more butter and cream".”
