Obama Online -- Where Are the Young Supporters?

Commented Oct 23, 2009 at 10:24:56 in Technology

“Could Barack Obama be the Trojan Horse, now inside the White House with the powers that will bring down American democracy and the the real American way of life? Have we unwittingly created a monster that could destroy the country in a final fight to the death between the forces of peace, democracy and compassion and the fat cats of Wall Street and the tea baggers of Main Street?

We shouldn't wait to find out - it will be too late by then. We've got to re-organize and launch a movement to force the President to honor his campaign promises and give us back the government he promised or face defeat in 2010.”

Susan Axelrod and Joe Biden Should Register as Heath Care Lobbyists

Commented Sep 02, 2009 at 13:31:00 in Living

“Good on you, Mr. Peele
As an ex-alcoholic who woke up one morning two years ago and decided that "enough was enough" after more than fifty years of limping along on my alcoholic crutch, I decided why and how I needed to stop and did it for myself because I couldn't afford to waste any more nights or mornings under the influence or after-effects of alcohol. The last thing anybody who drinks to excess needs is an excuse to continue and a legal cop-out is just another excuse.
I think Biden is a perfect example of the kind of politician we don't really need and I can't understand why Obama ever took him on but perhaps "the great pragmatist" has some secret agenda that will de exposed in the future”

Is Health Care Reform Possible Without Caring For The Providers?

Commented Aug 11, 2009 at 15:00:48 in Living

“Just using the term "Socialized medicine" demonstrates a serious lack of objectivity and political naivete or serious bias. Can you, or anyone you know actually define socialized medicine? Have you ever lived for an extended period in a country with a single payer system? E.g. the U.K., France, the Scandinavian countries etc.? Do you think that the system as it now stands, is "the best of all possible worlds?"

“I can't help but suspect that many of the people who chose to be "childless" have made the choice because they don't like kids and/or they know that they would be lousy parents. I applaud their decision because the last thing we need in this old, tired and overcrowded world is more unwanted, unloved and un-cared for children.

If Obama does dump Summers (and in his heart he knows that he should) than this will
be a clear message to all the phonies on State St.,Wall St. and all points north, south, east and west, that the President is serious about cronyism and good ol' boys' "business as usual". If he don't, he ain't and then we'll know for sure.

“I learned about the "Anti-Christ" from priests who could have been the current Pope's uncles.
They taught us to look carefully under the bed for the devil every night before going to bed and that just thinking about sex was a mortal sin. Now, the new Anti-Christ, aka "Benedictus PP. XVI" has taken the Catholic Church and its doctrines to a new low- relegating the Holocaust- denying Cardinal to the shadows.
Bennedino's current insanity shows just how absolutely ruthless "Holy Mother Church" can be when it comes to "propagating the faith"
It reminds me of something the judge said when she pronounced verdict on O.J. Simpson in his trial for armed robbery. She told Simpson and everyone in the courtroom that, when she began the trial, she wondered whether Simpson was arrogant or stupid when he committed his crimes but after hearing all the testimony and evidence, she realized that he was both: "arrogant and stupid". I think we could say the same about "Benedictus PP. XVI"”

“It is ironic that the author's comments about Chris Matthews and his partner in histrionics comes on a day when we begin to see the end of the daily newspaper. News as entertainment and distraction has finally come into its own and the stolid pages of our daily newspapers hardly can compete in this arena. Matthews has the necessary background and intellectual capacity to fill the post of political commentator easily but his lack of self control seriously impedes his overall performance.
"On the other hand", his partner in unrestrained histrionics, Kieth Oberman, reveals his long experience in sportscasting and a style much better suited to his orgiinal career path. "Ya pays your nickel and ya takes your choice"”

“Maybe, in "The final analysis", when historians are able to take a very close, objective view of the eight years of infamy that characterized the Bush reign of anti-terror and misrule, they will see how he managed to twist or "spin" public sentiment into hate and fear instead of what might have been hope, compassion and community. 9/11 could have been the catalyst to unify the country and its citizens. Instead it polarized and divided us completely. He should be known someday as "George Bush, the Great Divider"”

K-Dog76 replied on Jan 08, 2009 at 12:37:01

SPecial interests divided this country, not George Bush. You do not govern on public sentiment, by the way.

Watch Obama, he will be a great president, but his campaign promises will get broken, public opinion will start to drop immediately... this doesn't mean he's a bad leader, it actually means hes a good one, he's not out to please people, he's out to save a nation... some people who voted for him are already upset because they aren't getting their way, that makes them selfish and has no bearing on what kind of leader Obama will be. Too bad they don't get that”

“It was Francois Rabelais who said "Nature abhors a vacuum." There is a a complete vacuum at the head of the GOP and Ms. Paley is attempting to fill it. Is this truly the party of Lincoln? What a sad commentary on our national politics and perhaps on western civilization. When an ignorant, uncouth rabble rowser can preempt the leadership of one of the two major political parties of the U.S., things have indeed come to a sorry state. Maybe it is the end of our time.
