Jake Tapper, Terry Moran Guest-Hosting "This Week": Who Should Replace George Stephanopoulos? (POLL)

Commented Dec 23, 2009 at 11:12:37 in Media

“Ron Reagan would be a good and different choice. Koppel isn't going to want a regular show, but he should be picked up regularly to do big special, conventions, election night coverage, issue docs with panels after, etc.

Ifill stil should be doing Meet the Press. Gregory is so bad there is no chance he will last. Thousands and thousands of us no longer watch this program because of this egomaniac. I don't know who at NBC/Universal insisted on him, but that person probably should go too.”

“Jake Tapper asks the tough questions, Gwen just wants to get along. She never asks the questions that everyone wants to know. Her friday PBS show is a yawner.”

“There never was any intention on the part of Rahm Emmanuel and company to do anything but appease the Healthcare Cartel. They have pretty much ended up with the legislation they set us up for.

Forcing 30 million people to buy something from a private company with no controls.. Oh yes, these companies can rake 20% right off the top too. With 30 million new customers that's a bonanza. Lieberman and Nelson should be receiving private islands as gifts from the insurance industry. They earned them. And, it might be wise for them to go to them and stay away from the rest of us whom they have so terribly betrayed,

Even the Botax is being removed. C'mon, that is reasonable on elective cosmetic stuff. It isn't really going to affect the business much. Those with grand vanities will just have to save a little longer. Keep the tanning tax too. [Sorry, Boehner]”

“"Extend"? coverage to 30 million people. Don't you mean "force" 30 million people to pay private businesses whatever those businesses say they must pay?

What an outrage. No safety net, no competition. No health care reform. Just payola for the Healthcare Cartel and their lackeys in the Senate.

The President failed us, failed to support a public option, a medicare buy in or anything else that might have made this worth celebrating. He should hide in his upstairs office in shame. And folks responsible like Rahm Emanuel should be fired immediately.”

Chuck Todd, Savannah Guthrie Launching "Daily Rundown," 9AM Show On MSNBC

Commented Dec 14, 2009 at 02:45:19 in Media

“Todd is one of the under used talents in the NBC stable. As the "dataman" of the political team during the Presidential election, he proved to be one of the most interesting and informative of the bunch. As an everyman type, he has great appeal when used correctly.

Guthrie seems on the ball. I hope these two can bring a strong show together. MSNBC is rather lacking in the daytime hours. Andrea Mitchell, who started out strongly has kind of poohed out as a moderator. I expected a real hard hitting foreign affairs show with all her experience and contacts.

From the Ed show through the evening line up, MSNBC is pretty much a winner. The weakest of the four is Matthews.”

KindOne replied on Dec 14, 2009 at 04:37:42

“Everyman?

Sure, if every man spends his time at 60,000 feet where impeachable offenses are no big deal. I think Chuck is a co-conspirator to high crimes and misdemeanors, a traitor to his nation who is only loyal to the people who buy his time on TV.

Good luck to him. I hope he starts taking his job seriously.”

“Interviews like this one giving grifters and cons all the free publicity and applause they could wish for is exactly why I no longer watch Matt lauer and the Today Show. It is just a cheap gossip rag dressed up to appear to be "information" and things that will really help guide our lives.

Hello? We have two wars, starving millions, international water shortages, an international need to shift and diversify energy sources, children attending lousy schools, health care crises and so on.

Why doesn't this useless program at least devote some segments to real data, facts, and show us people who are doing something to help our youth, rebuild our nation, innovate, dedicate and restore our American drive and "can do?"”

Senator Nader? Former Presidential Candidate Considers Connecticut Run In 2010

Commented Nov 28, 2009 at 06:00:46 in Politics

“I supported Nader in his basic work as an activist for decades, but his runs for the Presidency have been a bad idea.

Finally, he is looking at a Senate seat or Governorship, but he is 75. It takes 12 years to gain any power in the Senate. A Governorship of a small state where he might institute some of the policies he was the best choice. And now, the only choice.

Unseating Dodd is a bad idea for Obama's policy dreams. Why isn't Nader establishing residence for a run for Judd's seat, where he might not only win, but add to the Democratic majority when worthwhile and otherwise present from the floor?

Unseating Dodd is a bad idea. This run could cripple Congress. It too little, too late, and, I'm afraid, another vanity candidacy--a lot of publicity at a very high cost.

Keep harping from the outside, Ralph. You are a master at it and we love you for it.

Dean: Lieberman Should Give Up Chairmanship If He Backs GOP Health Care Filibuster

Commented Nov 27, 2009 at 13:28:33 in Politics

“Dean is right. Lieberman should resign his chairmanship if the "public option" issue is so important to him that he is willing to bring the Democratic position down. That's his right, but there is no reason to further indulge this man, or pretend he is a Conservative Democrat.

He is no longer even a Democratically leaning Independent. He is, simply, a man who thinks he is more important than millions of Americans who disagree with his Insurance company supporters, and a man who knows best what how 300,000 million people should receive their health care.

This level of vanity is not appropriate in a man leading the Homeland Security committee, or any other in the Congress. He is not a Congressional communicant. He is a pothole in any road to 21st century progress.”

“This would just be replacing one Wall Street Toadie with an understudy who probably is not as skilled.
What a joke!

What we need is a bull dog enforcer like Eliot Spitzer. The Secretary's immediate undersecretaries can specialize in banking, bonds, insurance, monetay policy, etc. while he or she makes sure the financial arena is fair and balanced.

That should be the Secretary's number one goal this term and it certainly is not anything Time Geithner even thinks about.

Thank you Mr. Geithner for the good things you were able to do and now, goodbye. It's time for us to move on to the next steps of solving Too Big to Fail and Too Important to Follow any Rules.”

Will Biden And Kerry Support A War Surtax Again?

Commented Nov 25, 2009 at 12:41:00 in Politics

“This war will yield nothing for the American people. If the adminsitration wishes to stay near the nukes in Pakistan and Iran, they need to tax the wealthy.

After all, the wealthy are the heavy investors in the military industrial complex, the private mercenaries, the defense contractors that spend billions without ever accounting for what it was spent upon. They also will be the ones who refit our troops and equipment after we leave, so they can reclaim their money at that time.

We need health care, education, new clean jobs and products that other nations will import. We don't need this endless drain into destruction and hatred. We lose on every level.....accomplishing our goal, improving our standing, building our reputation and moral standing in the world.

Soooo, if you want to do it, don't do it on the ordinary guys' dimes.”

“Standard political wisdom doesn't hold here. If he just takes the safe route, he will lose a vast amount of support. Here in neighboring California, there is a herd of folks prepared to open their wallets and hit the phones to suppport his 2010 bid for reelection if he goes all out on the public option.

After what the insurance companies just did---telling us we are all at their mercy and will pay for Congress' altering anything that Cartel wants---he might as well do something important and noteworthy.

I believe the voters will back him if he does and abandon him if he doesn't. Too many in Nevada are subject to insurance woes not to. And by now, they realize the current Finance bill is just a giveaway to the insurance company. Folks are going to be hopping mad when they truly understand that they are going to be forced to give both their private money and tax money to the Health Care Cartel.

Watch out , Senator. This won't be an ordinary mildly conservative electorate if that is allowed to happen.”
