“Nee bottom line is this. Survivor has no hard and fast rules for choosing the winner. Its left to the jury. So part of the 'gameplay' is to MAKE SURE you have enough people on the jury who WILL vote for you. Because without that, you are simply a loser at the game.
Hanging on to the coattails of someone else to get through the game is not admirable but it IS a strategy that wins.. just the same as Russell manipulating people to what he thought was his own advantage, only to find out he had screwed himself out of winning by ticking off the jury members at the last vote.
I dont feel sorry for him and I dont feel he deserved the million bucks. He may have found every hidden immunity idol, he may have manipulated and conned his way to the final three. But if all those jurors KNEW the details of his despicableness beforehand, that he had dumped out their water, burned their socks, let the chickens out and a ton of other bad stuff he did, he wouldnt have made it as far as he did.
The fact that he had tears in his eyes for losing was HILARIOUS. He believed his own hype. To have him see someone else win like Natalie who did not do all those despicable things was karma.”

“I agree. Johnny Fairplay was not a skilled player BUT he did use the same lieing tactics that Russell used to TRY to win. Both are of the same ilk as far as underhanded maneuvering to try to win the game.

As far as the final three in this season, I think none of them deserved to win and the lesser of three 'evils' was chosen. I didnt like Natalie. I didnt especially like the religious bs she used in the game to make her seem like God was on her 'side' to win.
But to be clear, Russell winning after being as downright dirty 'play' would have been worse. I dont like him at all. I find nothing redeeming about his character or his game play. Despicable behavior should not be rewarded in life, even though at times it is. I never rooted for Russell and it was far easier to swallow Natalie winning than to have had Russell walk away with a million bucks that he didnt need.

As far as the game of Survivor goes. There is more to the game than getting to the final three. This is where Russell did NOT excel and in fact, set to ruin his entire game play. Because he failed to take into consideration the ire, disgust, and vindictive nature of the human beings he had worked so hard to undermine. Karma baby, Karma.”

“Seems to me she did both. She won and did so by the rules. Its the "w" that gets counted and no one remembers who finished second, though Russell should likely take on that honor, willingly or no. The rules are the rules. Any who complain about how she did so would likely have lost to her as well. What is it is called, "Survivor"?”

In what way did the talk, during the campaign, of Obama's father's nationality, race, religion, etc. NOT constitute criticizing who his parents were? In what way is the birther movement not continuing this? Or are you going to try to split hairs and claim the argument would have gone on this long and gotten this rabid if the candidate were, say, a white republican with a father from Ireland? And yes, Clinton could've killed Bin Laden a few times but didn't, but then he didn't have quite the same motivation as GW to focus on Bin Laden, did he? 9/11 upped the ante to say the least. But obviously not enough to make Bush want to "stay the course" in Tora Bora.”

“I certainly wished for it during the Bush/Rove/Cheney/Yoo years, but they were the Bad Guys after all. Now that we've got Obama in office, I was hoping that restoring American values was going to be a high priority, but there are still folks in Gitmo who haven't had trials, the Justice Department's been defending Bush-instituted warrantless wiretapping practices, and it's pretty much been looking like Same Stuff Different Year.
Yeah, it'd be nice if the economy worked, but Bush spent 8 years breaking it so I don't expect a Democrat to be able to fix it overnight, and I'd hoped to see some significant progress on Iraq, and Obama never promised to fix Afghanistan. But those are the hard problems - fixing values is something Obama should have done up front, and instead he's merely not been aggressive about finding new ways to be evil.”

“Bush wasn't criticized because of the party he belonged to. He was rightly criticized for lying, starting a war with a country that did not attack or threaten us, stopped looking for and let get away the guy who did attack us, could not put a complete sentence together, systemically try to eliminate our Constitutional rights and running our (and the world's) financial present and future into the ground. That is the difference. Obama is criticized for who is parents were, something no one has any control over. That is the difference.”

Now if you're competing directly with an immigrant for a job then you have no one to blame but yourself.”
