I am in total agreement Obama is a war time president. But is there a obtainable goal now? I believe in giving our military goals and very defined missions scaled to our force size. Holding a country or two with a hostile to indifferent native population to keep in check a jihadist group is a war of attrition and it has a very bad track record in history. This is the war Al Qaeda wants. We are fighting on their terms.

It will be tragic for us to spend another 4-5 years there and waste so many lives and then come back to this same position.

I served in the military and I supported Bush going into Afganistan but he dropped the ball on this one. Yes I am politically left but I also think sometimes you have to fight. This for me has nothing to do with a "leftist" reaction to war it is a reaction to wasting human lives for a game that is already lost.”
