“By the way, I love how you think that Bush had nothing to do with the economic collapse because despite being in office for eight years, it was really a tiny Democratic majority from 2006-2008 who was responsible for economic policy, not the President. Yet somehow President Obama, who has only been in office for eight months, is to blame for 15 million jobless, even the ones who lost their jobs while Bush was still in office.

And then you expect anyone to take your front-loaded questions seriously? Puh-leeze.”

“You don't want to be schooled, believe me. The complexities of the origins behind the economic collapse are far too vast for your limited brain to comprehend. And if you're going to come on here suggesting that the root causes of the economic collapse reside with a party that held a small majority in Congress for just two years, and that everything only started to unravel in early 2007 when they came to power, then you are simply putting your ign0rance of economics front and center for everybody to see. You're not worth the effort.”

The recession started in 2007, but not as a result of what the Dems did after taking over the majority position in Congress that year. Bush's appointments in the government stayed on until 2009, and we are still trying to clean up the mess he and his cronies made.

Admittedly, it's comforting to see the GOP fractured, shrunk and in a disarray. I can't say much for the Ron Paul and Glenn Beck Libertarians. They are blind led by blind pursuing an ideology unworkable in the real world.

No one industrialized and developed country in the world has a Libertarian government and society.”

SharpDressedMan replied on Oct 02, 2009 at 02:37:48

“Many forget Al Gore won the popular vote. What happened in Tennessee doesn't matter. Florida's voting discrepancies tipped the balance. The Supreme Court made a ruling in GWB's favor. Bush was SELECTED not elected.

Blaming Bush for the 2000 election is a relatively small matter. He blundered everything else while setting the record for most vacations.

George W. Bush took vacation time for FOUR months out of EVERY year he was in the White House. You, me and all other tax payers paid GWB to go on vacation for a cumulative TWO YEARS and EIGHT MONTHS during his 8 FAILED years.

This went on while 2 wars were fought in the Middle East and other places around the world needed attention. Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005. Where was he? Crawford Ranch, Camp David or joyriding Air Force 1 to different places. The economy plummeted but he went to Bejing for the 2008 Summer Olympics.

shaggyct replied on Oct 02, 2009 at 02:24:39

“Where's your source for that? Not that it matters. In September 2001, I remember polls saying that Democrats were going to pick up 40-50 seats in the House. In 2005, they were saying that the GOP was going to hold onto a significant majority. I've been around politics for long enough to know that polls at this stage of the midterm cycle are about as reliable as Republican economic policies.

The bottom line is that the GOP has made itself politically irrelevant by alienating the very demographics it's going to need if it is ever going to become viable on a national level.”
