Can the Obama White House Course-Correct in Time to Avoid Hitting the 2010 Iceberg?

Commented Dec 17, 2009 at 17:06:15 in Politics

“Obama does not get it. Summers, Bernanke and Geithner need to go. They need to listen to Volcker, not Rubin. At least this morning there were some Senators who get it. 7 voted against Bernanke's re-appointment. It was interesting viewing.”

Celebrating The Young Victoria

Commented Dec 17, 2009 at 16:03:29 in Living

“I have read quite a bit about Victoria. It seems her passion for Albert was not returned as much as she would have wished. Also, her reign was doing a great unrest in Europe. Listening to the people and enacting some reforms is the only reason the British Monarchy still exists.

It seems America's powerbase could learn a lot from Victoria.”

Just look at the way she built a cult of angelhood around herself while she and her family lived like kings on the backs of millions of dead children working in mines to find jewels for her hat.”

Curbing Big Banks: Draw the Damn Line

Commented Dec 17, 2009 at 12:00:36 in Business

“This is a good article. Clearly the people are outgunned by the elites when it comes to access. But, we have the votes. It doesn't do a Congressman any good to receive millions from special interests if they do not get re-elected. The people are in a revolutionary mood and it may take that to clear up this mess. But first of all, we need to get Congress to listen. They are sitting up there in their ivory towers, thinking we are stupid and won't hold them accountable. We need to follow every vote of our elected representatives and communicate with them when they vote correctly or incorrectly.

For many years, the people have not demanded accountability. They have been silent or disinterested. It is time to change ourselves as well as Washington. We need to get involved and vocal.”

Cosatjockomo replied on Dec 17, 2009 at 15:05:18

“So if you're unhappy about the way your democrat representative is kissing finance butt, you'll do what? Vote republican in the next election? How's that better. The only candidates you will be offered to choose from will be selected by major party leaders based on the leaders' confidence that the candidate will play along - business as usual. The people don't choose the candidates, they choose between the awful candidates the major parties force on us. They won't get a nomination unless they have already been bought and paid for by special interests backing the parties. Treason and firing squads - that's what we need. That's how you hold them accountable.”

“I don't think the tea party adherents know what they are for or against. They are just incredibly frustrated by the last election. Most of them seem to be low information voters who simply mouth what they have been told to say with no real understanding of what they are saying. At lease that is how they across at the townhall meetings. Total gibberish.”

Lifelong Learning For A Stronger Workforce

Commented Dec 10, 2009 at 14:31:12 in Business

“Unfortunately, in the past few decades, more and more Americans and immigrants have viewed education as unimportant. I have seen high school graduation rates plummet among my children's peers. In my day, education was valuable and stressed highly in my home and others' homes that I knew. I have found recent high school and college graduates ignorant in many of the subjects more commonly taught - civics, history, English, economics and math and science. We can talk all we want about education, but until students WANT to learn, it is all for naught.”

hypnotoad72 replied on Dec 10, 2009 at 15:25:31

“I want to learn.

I like to learn.

Cost makes a lot of it prohibitive.

And since society as we apparently made it works on profit and not knowledge, we should all read legal forms and EULAs and see how we can s c r e w each other over instead of properly learning and doing good for self and community.

That's sarcasm, probably, but people are tired of double-standards and spin. That much is universal, regardless of political persuasion.”

Yes, Virginia, It Is Bernanke's Fault

Commented Dec 08, 2009 at 14:19:02 in Business

“Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve are not hear for the American people. They are here for the international bankers. Ben Bernanke does not care one twit for our well-being. His mandate is to destroy the middle class by booms and busts, each time diminishing the middle class of wealth and power. This time he has done great damage. We must take back control over our money supply and our government. Only we can do it.”

Where Was the Fed?

Commented Dec 07, 2009 at 10:48:06 in Business

“I watched Bernanke's hearing. A lot of senators (including Chris Dodd) are still supporting Ben Bernanke because they say they firmly believe he "saved our economy from disaster". I expect they get a lot from the banking system. My question is this? What good does millions in special interest money do for you if you don't get voted in next time. We need to band together and hold the crooks in Congress to task. Vote them all out.”

“I don't care about tea partiers or other nutty groups. I am for throwing out all of the incumbents and starting over again. The current group of congressmen and women are so thoroughly compromised to the special interests, regular Americans don't stand a chance to see our priorities get traction. They talk a good game, but in the end, nothing is done. What is done is that we get screwed again. Throw all of the bums out. If it takes tea partiers to do that, so be it.”

Joe Ryan replied on Dec 05, 2009 at 21:18:02

“So how will it be different if the new crop accepts money from various sources (who all want their desires amplified)? The only way to move forward is to support and vote for Independent candidates who do not accept money, and to make 'the non-acceptance of money' the litmus test every candidate must pass in order to get our vote. We don't need a third version of the dems or GOP. Both parties are beyond corrupt, and basically function as criminal enterprises. The root of the evil is money. So lets go forward as Independents who don't take money. Those who say a congressional seat cannot be won without raising money are full of it. Hard work by dedicated citizens can replace money and have the same effect. My opponent will spend at least 200k putting up 5k in campaign signs. Five-thousand volunteers putting one up in their yard for a candidate who doesn't take money, could have the same effect. If they're aren't enough people who give a rat's ass about the US in your district, then yes, Independents can't win without raising money. We must be willing to do the necessary work to win, or the lobbyist will pay someone from the GOP or Dems to do it FOR THEM. Joe Ryan for Congress in 2010.”

“A very common sign at tea parties is "throw them ALL out" or some more clever variations on that. Of course, that won't really happen, but the idea that the Beltway bowl needs a good flushing every now and then is a good one. Our public servants need to know that.”

Sarah's Palling Around with Conspiracists

Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 15:38:15 in Politics

“I heard yesterday that Cheney was dividingd up the Iraqi oil in 2002 before we went to war. That is why he went to the Supreme Court to keep the meeting minutes out of the public eye. We did want the Iraqi oil. That is no myth.”

Fed Transparency Should Precede Bernanke Confirmation

Commented Dec 04, 2009 at 11:01:29 in Business

“I watched Bernanke's hearing for four more years. Jim Demint reminded Bernanke how in September 2008, Paulsen and Bernanke went to congress and told them if they did not pass the TARP bill so they could buy toxic mortgages, the economy would be in the toilet. Congress passed TARP, not one cent was used to buy toxic mortgages, and the economy did not fail.

This whole mess was a move by the Fed (owned by the banks) and Paulsen (darling of Wall Street) to get their hands on trillions of dollars of our money. It was a scam. How can a bank that was on the verge of collapse in September 2008 be making record profits 6 months later? Because they whole thing was a lie. The Fed put trillions of dollars into the economy for the first decade of the 21st Century; then decided to pull back the money supply, causing the meltdown. They did the same thing in the 20s and caused the Great Depression. This is all a complete scam.”

Americans Don't Have Jobs, Will Ben Keep His?

Commented Dec 03, 2009 at 15:31:00 in Politics

“All of the money from special interests does not mean anything if the incombents don't get voted in again. We do have the ultimate power if we use it wisely. Unfortunately, we still have low information voters who do not understand the issues. If people truely understood the consequences of their indifference, I think we could move mountain.

I ask that every citizen act like one.”

Good Bye! The Reappointment Of Bernanke Is Too Much To Bear

Commented Dec 01, 2009 at 08:57:07 in Business

“Received this from Ron Paul this morning.

The Fed and US Treasury have perniciously doled out trillions in subsidized loans to troubled banks and other financial institutions, and that number is growing through a revolving TARP slush fund which the Feds are using to bail out their huge corporate buddies. The Federal Reserve and Treasury constantly brag about the need for "transparency" and "oversight," but it's all just talk — they want none of it. They want secrecy while the privileged are rescued at the expense of the middle class.

It is unimaginable that Congress could be so derelict in its duty. It does nothing but condone the arrogance of the Fed in its refusal to tell us where the trillions in bailout money have gone. All Members of Congress should be outraged that conditions could deteriorate to this degree. It's no wonder that a large and growing number of Americans are now demanding an end to the Fed.

We need to get rid of the Fed and all of its banker buddies.”

The End of 'Too Big to Fail'

Commented Nov 23, 2009 at 10:38:17 in Business

“I agree that America is closer to revolution than Kanjorski thinks. Marie Antoinette has been replaced by the international bankers - same greed and not listening to what is going on outside their doors. Same thing that happened in Russia. The Czar's ministers were begging him to enact reforms, but he ignored them to his peril.

Get Geithner out. He is the banking patsy and would bail them out again and again. Same with Summers and Bernanke.”

Geithner Is "Obama's Rumsfeld": Replace Him With Robert Reich

Commented Nov 20, 2009 at 09:21:49 in Business

“Geithner/Bernanke/Summers are Wall Street lapdogs. Each has received millions of dollars from their buddies on Wall Street. Bernanke has to be pro-Bank because the Fed is owned by the big international banks. We, as the American people, need to insist on Ending the Federal Reserve and going back to printing our own money. The idea that the Fed has control and prints our money and then lends it to us for interest is a scam. We got rid of the Central Bank 8 times in our history. It did not hurt us, it helped us.

It would be a dangerous thing for Obama, because the international bankers were behind the assinations of LIncoln and Kennedy.”

Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

Commented Nov 03, 2009 at 17:27:50 in Politics

“I voted for Obama. He is a big disappointment. It is no wonder he has done nothing with the Wall Street crowd that is stealing us blind - he is bought and paid for and so is his Treasury Secretary, the Federal Reserve Chairman and his economic advisor. The only person he is not listening to is Paul Volcker because he makes sense. Obama got $1,000,000 from Goldman Sachs and his Treasury Secretary used to be on the board of Goldman Sachs. How about that for conflict of interests. They have no interest in anything except keeping the whole rotten system going for as long as we will take it.

I say we start camping out in front of the bankers' houses.”
