Obama One Year Later: The Audacity of Winning vs. The Timidity of Governing

“Americans are the most impatient people in the world
They now have a great President and they want him to undo the last 8 years in a year.”

“Disagree. You have to start moving in the RIGHT direction.

Prosecuting those responsible for torture.
Allowing banks to fail, and protecting consumers from usury
Drawing DOWN troops in unwinnable wars.
FIGHTING for public option,

Other than getting a hate crimes bill passed, Obama hasn't even BUDGED this ship away from where Bush parked it.”

“In terms of financial reforms it goes back to the Reagan years of course. That's 20+ years of bad deregulations people want undone in 10 months.”

“Seriously! Get a clue people! Changing the course of America takes time. Obama, during his candidacy, always said that would be the case. He is reforming america on a fundamental level, but he's smart to do it at a pace that doesn't turn the change-adverse country against him. We need to promote change in a way that allows us to keep changing the country in the years ahead. The last thing we need is a short-sighted push for total system reform that allows republicans to regain power and reverse all our changes in the near future.”

“Katherine McVee, Clay Akin, almost all the other 2nd's were better than who won. the other factor is the 'anti-Simon' vote. whoever he likes and shows it, is voted against just to spite him. ever see the 'vote for the worst' website?”

jrbear replied on May 20, 2009 at 18:51:05

“sorry nirak, as even Simon has pointed out many times..this is a 'voting' competition. i agree with you adam is a far better singer...but that's not what wins. ask Archie, or most of the past 2nd placer's that lost to lesser talents.”

“I agree with Sean Penn.
Obama at least tries to make this a better world”

needmorecowbell replied on Apr 21, 2009 at 22:38:02

“I will give Obama credit for trying to make this a better world. My fear is that he is not prepared for those that feel this world would be better without the U.S. They do exist

Also, I give Bush some credit for trying to make the world better by attempting to establish democracy in the mid-east. I like the idea, not the method. My entire life, probably longer, western citizens and military have been attacked by groups originating from countries with oppressive governments that tend to blame the U.S. for all their troubles. These oppressive governments, that don't believe in freedom, blame the U.S. in order to take the spotlight fom themselves - the real cause of their troubles.

I love the positive views I am reading on here, it signifies hope. But please realize the world is not all "peace and love" and not everyone wants to see a strong U.S.”

DTOM replied on Apr 21, 2009 at 22:28:25
