“Fred Phelps' church is anything but typical, I'm afraid. His church consists of a few hundred hate-addled, brain-washed followers; most of whom are his extended family. He preaches that "God is a god of hate".

God, especially, however, and according to the Westboro Baptist Church-goers, hates gay people. This is quite possibly the most grievous sin to them; worse than even murder.

They also travel the country picketing any and everything with the message that God hates but God esp hates gays. Therefore, they picket things like soldiers' funerals (b/c they were fighting for a country that gives rights to gay people), 911 memorial services (b/c god made 9/11 happen because we allow gay people to be gay), etc.. They carry around charming signs like "Thank god for AIDS" and "God hates gays". In other words, they are virulently anti-homosexual and anti-"gay-enablers" (which is anyone that is for gay rights or even just thinks they are okay_.

So, basically, to compare WBC to any regular "religious people" or to call their actions "typical" really isn't accurate. They are a special category of freak all on their own.”

I work as a sales representative and we all are on the road 50% of the time. If women do not think these men sleep with other women they are in complete denial.

The men I work with don't even see it as abnormal or wrong. Just a perk of the job. These men also love their children and their home life, they seem to be able to compartmentalize differently than women.

I find it very interesting, when I tell my female friends the truth they just throw fits and cannot accept what is.”
