“I just read a case study where pop machines switched to a wireless device so that they could take credit cards. The price of the pop (don't quote me) went up i think from $.75 to $1.35. Sales went up 30%. (again don't quote me.) Bottom line, I think people are less price sensitive when they use credit cards.
So we switched to 100% cash on january 1st. We still pay for internet purchases, utilities, etc via credit card. But all of our living expenses like food, entertainment, gifts, in other words, everything we can pay cash for, we do. I think we've cut 30% from this spending just by going to cash. I can't tell you how many times I've passed by Starbucks because I'm out of cash and waiting to Friday's allowance day.
going to 100% credit would be good for the consumer economy, but horrible for the working class and anyone that cares about where their money goes.”

“"people are less price sensitive when they use credit cards." Absolutely. It is only when you have to hand over real money that the sensitivity is enhanced. Until then plastic money isn't real in the minds of most people. As for a previous comment regarding discounts for cash it is true that the agreement merchants make with their credit card processors preclude offering or evn giving a cash discount. If you look around you may see cracks in that regulation.
Try this. Go to a phone booth that accepts cash and credit cards and see if you don't pay less for a local call using cash.”

“Your own self-control is something only you can assess. The cost we can talk about. Since the vendors are usually not allowed by their contract with the credit card company to give discounts for cash, you are paying for the cc system whether you take advantage of it or not.”

“Yes, living an early 20th century lifestyle in the 21st Century probably is cheaper. But why?”
“Helen's comments were made out of frustration that Israel's rule has become morally bankrupt. If Israel can't govern without using apartheid and collective punishment, then maybe they should no longer be in charge.”

“This is why I dislike the Clintons so much. They are profoundly selfish. They don't care if the whole party goes down in flames. All that matters to them is themselves. That is all they have ever cared about.
Hillary should bow out because there is no way she can win without using the superdelegates to overturn the vote of the people. I will sit out rather than vote for those back-stabbing, greedy bastards.”

“Agreed. The Clintons are self-absorbed and have too much money on their hands. They have had their time in the sun and now it's time for someone else. That Hillary doesn't realize that suggests to me she is somehwat dull and imperceptive.”

“Just the way they gave away the House and Senate while saving their azz. They made Nixon look like he had class. He stepped down instead of taking his party down. Just imagin if Gore had been the Incumbent in 2000.”
