Maurice Clemmons Killed: Suspect In Seattle Officer Killings Is Fatally Shot
Commented Dec 01, 2009 at 12:35:26 in Home
“Police officers are not trained to shoot someone in the much smaller target of the leg if the offender is armed and dangerous. They are trained to remove the offender as a danger. I guess all of you in your ivory towers can go on about how it should have been done, I just wonder how you would have reacted if you were the one trying to stop a well armed, mentally ill gunman who has already shown that he has no respect for human life.
I am not someone who is gung ho always justifying peace officers' behaviors - they do make mistakes and they do behave egregiously at times.
The officers involved in this take down of an armed fugitive behaved correctly.”

“Sorry Folks, it's too late. Much like the French before their revolution, you have flaunted your obscene wealth and your feelings of being so much above us "little people". Your actions have shown us how little you care about the homeless and the almost homeless as you relax in one of your many ostentatious homes. You can no longer expect a few guns to protect you. There are way more of us than there are of you! And we are PISSED.
You, the obscenely rich, will be the first ones with the backs against the wall when the revolution comes.
Goodbye and good riddance to you all...”

“A lot of you people are vulgarity vampires. "Is it racism? What kind of racism? On whom can we blame it? Heads are gonna roll!" You keep arguing with each other about petty things while forgetting about the humans who were slaughtered yesterday. Four decent people who's jobs it were to protect and defend us are dead. Can we not mourn them? Must it immedietly be turned into a blame game?
No one but the presumably dead shooter knows the exact motive for this attack on our system of law.
It does sound like mental illness played a huge part, but more about that will be revealed.
Pay attention: 4 people are dead, they died because they wore uniforms that showed that they had sworn to protect and defend the rest of the community from the Maurice Jenkins of the world.
Rest in Peace, officers. May your families find some crumbs of comfort as this most painful time in their lives goes by.”

“Wow, I would guess Mr. Beck does NOT have a way with the ladies. Most women these days don't want to be consigned to the kitchen and we don't consider our talk to be "yapping". The fact that with Palin he may be right, doesn't negate the reality that most women don't yap, just as most men don't drone on and on. oops except Mr. Beck, himself!”

Bill Clinton Blasts Olbermann For Politicizing Health Care Event, Refuses To Go
Commented Nov 21, 2009 at 11:52:14 in Politics
“So what if Keith Olberman is "politicizing the event". Health care is right smack in the middle of the political debate right now. We need to have the politicians who are obstructing even a minor improvement in access to health care to be called out on their behavior. I guess it has been a while since Bill had to choose between seeing a doctor and paying the rent or buying food. I am usually a fan of Clinton's but he is way off base here. We are not going to suffer silently - we are going to raise hell and vote out the a-holes who seem to be serving the insurance companies instead of the public interest.”

“I have been struggling with depression and anxiety most of my adult life. I have learned how to put on a good "face", to mask how I really feel. It is when I get home that I can actually breathe again, feel safe enough to be the real me. I have been on various medications and in and out of therapy for years. Right now I am taking a medication that seems to be helping so of course the insurance company wants to not cover it and have me take something cheaper. No matter that the cheaper medication no longer works for me. Mental illness is real and it is debilitating. Right now I am doing okay, a couple of months ago I couldn't get out of bed and couldn't see any reason to live. It is only through the grace and decency of my family that I have somewhere to stay.
If you don't have a mental illness, you really are not in a position to make such a judgement. It's the old "walk a mile in my shoes" thing.”

American Family Association's "War On Christmas" Gap Boycott Is A Fatwa Fail

“According to some scholars, Jesus Christ was born sometime in the Spring, maybe April. In the past Christianity has co-opted some pagan holidays and renamed them. Maybe that is what happened to the day that is chosen to celebrate the birth of Jesus. It doesn't really matter to me. I just wish that the true believers would pay more attention to the teachings of Christ and less to the picayune details about others' lives, actions and beliefs. It is analogous to having more respect for our flag than for what our flag represents.”

All of the traditions around the Christian version of these lunar/solar legends were based on the dates of the solstice or equinox.
I am amazed that Christians never question why Easter is the first Sunday after the first full moon after the spring equinox!!!!!
And the date of Christmas is of course the result of a version of first century version of the old myth of the rebirth of the sun God after it dies at the winter solstice. (three days after the solstice, to be exact. Hmmmm......”

“Not cowards, coconspirators. What if information comes out in the trial that implicates them?
It could lead to new investigations and new trials, ones that might expose them. Everyone protesting this trial deserves to be carefully looked at to see what they might be hiding. There are tons of unsolved Bush era crimes, what if this trial started unraveling them?
Personally I would be delighted, but lots of insiders are terrified of it. So, do they protest too much?
They sure do! You betcha!”
