“I tend to agree with you. I want to believe that he's brilliant. I want to believe he's merely strategizing for future action that will make a huge difference. I want to believe that he's really quite cunning and is mapping out our future with his own style of leading and changing the status quo and making big chances for all of us. I want to believe he's building a foundation of where he wants to take this country but with diplomacy, patience and grace.”

“Well, there was a mass movement by the people of the world directed to the Copenhagen summit. It was called 350.com. I know because I was involved with it. Anybody know what kind of impact that had? I don't.”

Should Insurance Companies Pay For Preventive Care?

“In my life (and I stress my situation), I pay under $5.00 for a thyroid medicine, which I can afford. I would love to be able to buy some good quality vitimins or just some wonderful nutritional products for preventative healthcare. I can't because it's too expensive. So the way it is now we get to dump chemicals into our bodies in support of the pharmaceutical companies with no affordable alternative for wellness. I wish someone could come up with some brilliant idea where we do get some kind of financial assistance, or an alternative of some kind, to be able to purchase nutritional supplements. And I'm not talking One-A-Day vitamin stuff.”

“Artfully said . . . and so true. Off the mark a little here is, I really didn't understand how much we all want and need to be treated with dignity until I worked at a call center here in the US. There is no dignity, but we can blame it mostly on technology, I'm afraid, because it shows results and that's all that seems to count in our world today.”

“I agree with everything you're saying, Bill Maher. But the way I see it is that nothing is getting done because of our bipartisan "machine". Why even have a president who is supposed to lead when political agendas interfere with what he may want to get accomplished, or what the American people may or may not want? He can only lead to a certain degree. Why wasn't going to war in Iraq put before Congress? Why don't we take health reform to the American public to vote on?”

Isn't there a saying "he who speaks loudest . . . "! But my guess is we are too lazy. Maybe it's partly because we don't have a problem with a black president!”

Sunday Roundup

Commented Sep 06, 2009 at 12:29:43 in Home

“I have really enjoyed reading the HP every morning. But today was a turning point for me when I read the story about Jones/Beck. All media talks about is the Republicans and what they have to say, or what outrageous things they have to say, or what they are up to, or that OB's ratings have dropped, or basically criticizing OB for whatever, or 2010 or 2012. And HP has joined in more than ever before. This is not the kind of news I want to read, and it is not good for the country.”

katmeyster replied on Sep 06, 2009 at 15:03:44

“Media, including HP, have as their primary goal to get readership so they can charge more for advertising. If catering to our lower function brains that like conflict, violence, and winners and losers -- if that will get more readers than a considered debate and intelligent reporting -- that is what they will do.”

With protests of thousands for reform we get no press but a few hundred Tea Party Wackos get days of talking heads and attention it is no wonder this country is heading for disaster! There are far more people who are backing this president than not but no one wants to talk about that! Not even Huff post. I am afraid Huff Post is buying into the MSM disinformation onslaught. What do You Want Obama to Say Wednesday Night?

Commented Sep 05, 2009 at 10:26:39 in Politics

“THE BEST DEFENSE IS A GOOD OFFENSE: "Often success rests on destroying the enemy's ability to attack. "
BRING THE FIGHT TO THEM, meaning, "Don't go on the defensive. Attack them as soon as possible. Don't give them time to organize against you."
The Republicans minority voice is loud. The media plays to this garbage. It's time for the president to be loud! "It's time for change and by God we're going to have change for the good of this country."”

“The media would also like to give major amounts of time to the 2012 election and on all the bashing being done by Republicans. She should have included that as well. I myself would like to see more air time devoted to the thousands of challenges we face today and how OB is trying to address many of them immediately, only with the interference of many congressman, both sides, wanting to keep things status quo, because to take action would be spending money!!!”

Not only her but to see all those Republicans backing her will be unbearable for me. No big government, huh? But she can pocket thousands, abuse her power, and get away with it. So it's minimize government so that individuals can become CEO's and "rape" their employees so they can live high on the hog giving out huge bonuses. That's what the kind of freedom that the Republicans say they are losing now means to me.”

Wouldn't it be interesting to know how many prisoners across America (excluding illegals) were unwanted children or children who really didn't have a chance growing up. Yes, let's find ways to cut unwanted pregnancies! Let's find some funding. Yes, more government spending for a very worthy cause indeed.”

“I found this article excellent; extremely educational. Thank you. There is one other category that would be interesting to maybe include in the list, and that is conservative Democrats. They would be my only "healthy" choice for a new Republican Party. We need two parties that will at least try and work together for the good of the country.”

ObjectiveRealist replied on Apr 16, 2009 at 12:43:53

“The GOP has nothing to offer, and as much as I admire Ron Paul's truth to power talk, his fund-raising victories over the Republicans in the last primary demonstrate to me that he has _nothing_ to gain from continuing to associate himself with that stronghold of corruption, the GOP. I agree that until we get absolutely everything right all the time -- in short, until absolutely everybody is safe, healthy, wealthy and wise -- variety of ideas and competition amongst philosophies are healthy for the community, but Republicans have proven conclusively to me that they have absolutely nothing of value to offer. I think I'll go "Green" for the next election, although I could imagine canvassing again for a good Democratic candidate.”

Fox News should be taken off the air for its treasonous behavior. It is outrageously anti-American. This isn't about questioning Obama's policies.
