Tiger Woods Deserves Your Scrutiny

Commented Dec 02, 2009 at 09:04:55 in Sports

“I love it how easy it is to recognize who the golfers are posting here!

David makes excellent points all around. $ and golf are all Tiger knows. Integrity, i.e. careful choices about who he does business with, (in more ways than one, professionally and personally,) etc. are not on his radar. Clearly. His choices show no concern with anything other than his wallet.

The person who should care about Tiger's inability to keep it in his pants is the mother of his two children. From the evidence coming forth, he is clearly not a man who should be married at this point in his life.Full stop. It's up to his wife to either kick him to the curb permanently, or to suffer with a man who shows her and their children continual disrespect. Her call. Not the public's.”

“You gotta be kidding...it's a miracle that Woods hasn't been caught already!

This guy is on the road and getting it shoved in his face everywhere he goes.

This is the life of celebrities! Do you think that his wife didn’t know that when she married him?”

“I guess then that Mr. Cafferty must think Rahm Emmanuel has no business being Obama's Chief of Staff since he only graduated from Sarah Lawrence with a BA in Liberal Arts and spent much of his time as a ballet dancer....
Jack... wise up buddy. The degree doesn't make the man. Just ask Bill Gates...”

“Since you said it earlier...enough already Stella. Just because it's in your nature to sit back and let someone criticize your value doesn't mean it's everyone's nature to let others do the same, especially someone who leaves the scene of an accident. What type of character is that!? Alec had every right to respond. Cafferty is the bully who started this.”

StellaRay replied on Jul 10, 2009 at 10:54:51

“McCafferty questioned his credentials to be a politician, he didn't criticize his "value." What is in my nature is not to take below the belt swipes. I prefer a clean fight, on topic.”

“YES Alec DID have to hit that hard because Jack Cafferty sure as F--k can dish it out but boy he sure can't take it! AND he was notorious at NBC in the 1980s for having a drinking problem, and others he worked with suffered because of it. The man has some gall.”

“And the point of this piece was? This reader can't help but think how utterly ridiculous fashion seems to so many when the global economy is going to hell in a not so stylish handbag. (That's certainly good for a belly laugh.) Well done Ms. Ward. Let's not worry too much about the soaring rate of joblessness and the rapidly rising number of homeless. We must all simply remember to laugh. LOL”

What I Gained by Losing in Madoff

Commented Jan 08, 2009 at 10:48:27 in Living

“What a great post Geneen. You nailed it on so many levels. I too, believe in doing what you love, not merely for financial gain. If you are lucky and your work is valued by others, all else will follow. Who would have believed someone's hubris could devastate so many lives and charities. It's equally shocking to see people killing themselves over their losses out of guilt, shame, honor, whatever you want to label it. When all is said and done, and everything is lost, it's those that rise to the occasion and see the beauty of life without all the trappings, who truly shine and teach us invaluable lessons about the meaning of life. Thanks for such an interesting post.”

Caroline Kennedy: All Entitled, All the Time

“It would help considerably/immeasurably if Caroline were as eloquent as her privileged background and education should/would suggest. Say as eloquent as... Obama? (Now that would be something, no?) Or is that asking too much of her? Clearly, she is no where near as eloquent nor polished when her speech is peppered with, "you know" and "um" in literally every sentence. Did you read the recent articles with verbatim quotes? It's simply astonishing and downright embarrassing. Perhaps this is why she is so reluctant to respond to reporters questions. What is so striking, is that as a public official, she should be more than willing to entertain most any questions posed, and when she herself, (not her handlers,) does not want to answer a question, she should have the where with all, to answer graciously and firmly as to why it's not an appropriate question. It's a dangerous line she's treading when she feels she's above answering a few simple questions. Her behavior smacks of all things "privileged," and is most disconcerting/unappealing.”

“BITTERBROAD's comment is so transparent and hyperbolic. Whew. What an odd coincidence (not) that this is the only comment this individual has ever posted on HuffingtonPost! Hmmm. Clearly she/he's got an axe to grind. Bitter indeed. Why so angry? It's a shame really. You do yourself a grave disservice. It makes you come across as deranged and intellectually challenged. Pssst. It's spelled "opposing" not "apposing". Finally, didn't anyone ever tell you THAT YOU DON"T HAVE TO PUT EVERYTHING IN CAPITAL LETTERS TO MAKE YOUR POINT? It simply makes you appear FRUSTRATED AND ANGRY BEYOND WORDS.”

“Great piece Leslie. Really great! Spot on. You are funny, accurate and well researched. Always love reading your work, whenever/wherever. I can't help but think the above posting is by Megan herself, or a family member for that matter? Clearly they harbor a similar penchant for twisting words (yours) to try and support a personal agenda.
As for me? I'd like to see the Megan and her friends twenty years from now when she's got three children to support, (some real responsibility,) a husband who is suddenly out of work, or who has dumped her for a younger, smarter, hipper, prettier chick, and who is defaulting on his alimony/support checks. It's everywhere I look. Thankfully, I'm not that altogether different from you. I've got children, have continued to work joyfully although exhaustedly throughout my marriage and have a devoted husband of twenty years who is hardworking and honors daily the meaning of his wedding vows Having said that, I am surrounded, I mean surrounded everywhere I turn, by female friends and colleagues with broken marriages, lost careers, and those who were once middle class but who are now in dire financial shape. I can't wait , I mean I can't WAIT to see where the likes of Megan and her friends are twenty years from now. (Little attention seeking girls. Aren't they just so adorable?)”

“I think, when Michale says, "embezzling campaign funds," she means that most folks who donated to Edwards' campaign, hadn't bargained for his campaign finance manager to be paying Edwards' mistress $15,000.00 a month for, at best doing nothing, and at worst accepting it as permanent hush money. It's not completely off the mark to characterize those as being misappropriated, whether Edwards supported the payments or not. The folks donating to Edwards' campaign, I'm sure, would rather their donated money go towards, how shall I put it, dare I say here, a more worthwhile cause?

This whole mess has little to do with the actual "cheating" on his wife. It speaks to Edwards complete lack of honesty with his supporters, and others, throughout his seeking the nomination. Of course this would get out. His behavior is actually rather like that of a sociopath. No?

And, before folks go calling me a republican, I've been a liberal democrat since the mid 1970's. I'm sick of guys like Edwards. His wife would probably regain her health if just got out of that toxic relationship.”

Jack Welch: His Final Transformation Isn't Pretty

Commented Apr 19, 2008 at 21:41:35 in Business

“"This time around?" "A fine leader?" You must be joking Sherlock. There are legions galore here in the U.S. and abroad who have, and always will, recognize the fact that Jack Welch is a man who demonstrates time and again, nothing less than a purely self promoting, self aggrandizing agenda. This incident is utterly in keeping with his "needy" character traits. End of story. You can't be for real Stanley. Only now you are wrapping your brain around this fact? Honestly. Get with the program buddy. You folks over at Fortune are a joke at times.

Jeff Immelt has more class and decency than Jack ever did. Everybody knows that. This just confirms it.”
