I'm not saying that we can ignore them...... we need to keep ridiculing their stupidity and lies, Just like with Faux ?news? , SOME people will eventually see them for the liars that they are.”
Catholic Church Threatens To Stop Feeding Homeless Over Gay Marriage

“The Supreme court has upheld the separation of Church and state several times. Their rulings have nothing to do with sin. It has to do with the guarantees of freedom of religion in the Constitution ,which also guarantees freedom FROM religion. However, an offense against the rights of HUMANS is not just a sin, but an offense against the Constitution. Fetuses are not humans yet. That is why they are called Fetuses.”

“I understand the Constitution...All of it INCLUDING the Amendments (which are PART of the Constitution) So does the Supreme Court. Imposing YOUR religious beliefs on those of us who do not believe that abortion is a sin IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Believe what you want. Practice your religion. Shut the eff up about it.”

“Cite the Supreme Court case that makes a statement about "Imposing YOUR religious beliefs on those of us who do not believe that abortion is a sin IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL." You won't be able to. The Supreme Court doesn't make statements about sin. Sin is in the venue of religions, not politics or law. An offense against God and the rights of humans is a sin; a violation against the State or and individual is a crime. Do you understand the difference?”

“One should stand to anyone's stupidity. Which is why we should object to Ms. Kilkenny's phrasing of her comments and her intentional misrepresentation of facts. Nowhere in the quote she gave did she quote the Washington Archdiocese of refusing to feed the poor. What they said was they could not work with the state's social programs. Two different things. But I see that cleveland chick did not answer my question: does she only hate Catholic protectors of child rapists and she not care about non-Catholic protectors of child rapists? See the absurdity in her assertion?”

“Have you ever read the Constitution? The part that says that the state shall not establish any religion, nor prevent anyone from practicing their beliefs? The Roman Catholic Church is seeking to IMPOSE its religious beliefs on everyone in this country. It is heavy handed, and as you can see from the posts on this thread, many people are very offended by the inteference in secular matters by the church. Believe what you want, but do not insist that I believe it or that I abide by your idea of morality. If the church continues this kind of behavior, they are just shooting themselves in the foot. I have written today to the Inspector General fo Tax Administration asking why the church still enjoys its tax exemption as a religious organization, when they are clearly a political one.
There is no bashing of the Catholic Church that is not soundly deserved.”

“Have you understood the Constitution? And by the way, it's in the 1st Amendment to the Constitution, not in the original. Do you understand that the government cannot force a religion to do its bidding? And aren't your trying to impose your particular beliefs on the country by demanding gay marriage, demanding abortion, and demanding things that other Americans see as unacceptable? That's what Democracy is about. Catholics have the same right as anyone else to participate in the body politic. Grow up. That's what America is about. By the way, I'm sure the Inspector General will act immediately on your letter. By putting it in the circulating file.”

“I am sure that I was not the only person who seriously questioned why Goldman survived and Lehman was allowed to fail. It seemed just too ironic that Paulson was the person who got to decide that Goldman's biggest competitor should not be rescued. This entire TARP thing has been a giant criminal enterprise. Obama is very badly advised by the thugs he has allowed to handle the economy. We need Marci Kaptur, Elizabeth Warren and Paul Krugman in there to do what is right for the country, not Wall Street.”

“The people who keep insisting that "death panels" are in the bill just prove that too many Americans are woefully uneducated. All those little references (sub A ii), (Sec 1866(f)(3), to other sections of the bill in the lines that they cite would explain to them what lines 11-15 mean. They are too stupid or lazy to do the research. They just accept the distortions that they hear from Hannity.”

“Since last September, the right wing has been having a collective nervous breakdown. First, a Black man was being elected President, then the Bush team snuck out of town leaving a godawful financial situation.
The Republican answer was to save their buddies on Wall St. and let the rest of us go down in flames. They are mad and scared, and the more scared they get, the more right wing they get. They really don't seem to have the intellectual wherewithal to figure out just who it is that they are mad at, so they just let the rightwing media tell them it is the government's fault. That is so much easier than finding out the facts, or thinking.”

“It is not that Christianity failed. Organized religion is the problem.....it has always been about power, not faith. The Catholic Church learned early that you could rule people by fear.
Just tell them that they are going to hell if they don't do as you say. Other religious groups caught on pretty quick. Do as we say, and we guarantee that you will be rich: will go to a heaven with 7 virgins for every man ( they did not note what reward was there for women in this heaven, but then life on earth under that religion is hell anyway, so just being dead is probably heaven for women) It is all crap, and if you have faith in a God, why do you need an intermediary anyway? Deal direct.”

“I think that you are WAY out of the closet. Since this country had to put up with the last 8 years of the most dictatorial, corrupt, inept, criminal and evil government that this country has ever had, I suggest that you give the Obama administration at least one term to TRY to undo the damage done to this country. If nothing improves, then you have a right to complain. Until then, Learn something about the true cost of health care in this country, and stop listening to the right wing radio and TV people who are trying to tell you that the sky is falling. Having lived in Europe myself, I can tell you that you have nothing to fear from universal health care. In fact, it is quite superior to the mess we have here.”

It is not rocket science to set up a program that will deliver health care for everyone at lower cost than we are paying now, and is superior to the messed up health care that we get (if we are lucky) from the Insurance industry and Big Pharma. Get rid of the stranglehold that those lobbies have on our government, and we will have better health care.”
