“To help decrease the deficit I would strongly suggest these churches begin to pay taxes. We pay taxes for the freedom to express our opinions; they pay nothing for the privilege to discriminate and hate. Besides white men, is there anyone else the hierarchy of my church finds acceptable? Is any other opinion respected by you? Who will your next crusade be against?”

“Hope the bishops drop the interference with the nuns. Most catholics, if given the choice between the bishops and pope vs. the nuns, the nuns will win hands down. Let these men meet. It keeps them busy and off the street. The rest of us will take care of the poor and homeless, visit the sick, man the soup kitchens, etc., Haven't seen a bishop yet jump in and help.”

Mister H on Oct 26, 2012 at 20:27:41

“First, the Vatican was addressing the leadership of the LCWR, not the nuns as a whole.

Second, the Vatican praised the work of the nuns with the poor.

Third, the Vatican's issue with the leadership of the nuns was with actions that undermined or contradicted Church teaching in the areas of abortion, sexuality, and marriage.”

“I am looking at my post and yours and I see no platitudes on my part. You don't agree that all mothers have been females and could have instructed thier children in a reality based idea of the world, instead of one of fear for a lifetime, you are going to hell and looking at a barbaric means of torture (the cross) every time they attend church. Participation in the real world would be much more valuable for our children then basing teir existence upon an idea that has caused the death of millions, murdered simplty because they did not agree. I noticed a long time ago that is not spoken of regardless of the denomination of the church. Learn a lot more about your "faith" before you decide to tangle with me”

John David Payne on Oct 13, 2012 at 18:20:49

“Seems to me that females have always had the opportunity to make a difference even if it meant taking a risk. Are they not the nurturers of the family?.Do they not exert influence over their offspring one way or another? To say that when we participate fully in the church then and only then will there be a change is BS. Change comes from within and if you change you can and should influence others. But, the world will be a better place when the power of religion is replaced by the power of clear thinking, not before”

“The dogma of the Catholic church has been determined by the hierarchy. It is not infallable nor is it meant to be. It has been determined mostly by men who hold all the power in the church. Until women are given their place in this religion, it will continue to become more irrelevant as they attempt to hold their position of power. This has nothing to do with the dogma of the faithful but everything pertaining to the seat of power. We are the church; the hierarchy is to serve the church and ALL of God's children. Until the church accepts women as equal and until they return to the call to service of others as called for in Vatican II, nothing can change and can only become worse.”

Asmondius on Oct 11, 2012 at 10:46:31

He has yet to suggest a plan that has worked for our military or the finances of the american people. Enough already. “So which is more important to the church? The right to life of the unborn or the health and welfare of the poor. Recently he has spoken out of both sides of his mouth. As a catholic there is no way I would condone this political stunt and again shows how little the bishops care one whit about the poor and hungry. When i look at the hierarchy of the church I see old men who still consider women as their servants, have no time for the poor and homeless and feel it is their right and duty to dictate their opinions as doctrines of faith. There are only 10 rules to follow.”
