Leadership, Obama Style

Commented Nov 02, 2009 at 16:02:31 in Politics

“I do not want a father figure as a leader. Lets ask the democratic question. Do we get the things that the people need? No points for style. Not a question of did he explaine it to the slowest slug in the press corps. Play chess, or at least try to understand the game.
Items on his desk. 1 WAR. 2. Economy 3. Health Care. 4. thru 15 Stuff you can't guess but makes young men go gray.
How is your "hair"?”

“I think President Obama is over-estimating his supporters loyalty.
One of the largest issues was health care reform..
Every time I receive an increase in my health insurance bill, I will remember who could have put an end to this robbery.
I don't vote for politiicians who break their promises.
Call senators and representives--this is a good time with everyone who is insured receiving hikes in their insurance payments.”

Who's Killing the Public Option? President Obama With a Rahm-Bow

Commented Oct 27, 2009 at 00:32:47 in Politics

“Yes, Obama only spends as much politics as required. It is the results, not the grandstand show that matters to me. Making law is messy. And the pundits need to learn that to wright off the "public option" in August and September did not make it so. Now even the tea-baggers are fighting. The republican leadership is exposed as the NO gang, and banking reform is rolling. A real failure and obstructionist. "balderdash"!”

The Public Option Is Not Where You Draw the Line

Commented Oct 20, 2009 at 11:19:19 in Politics

“"And I do realize this is an awesome deal for the insurance companies."
Do not treat us like we need you to explain the realities.
THAT is why we must have the "public option".
We had better pay attention to the self insured industry plans, also. We need the take-your-money-and-buy option.
WE know. August let all the players get exposed. The October "report" from the insurance loby made it very clear.
The bonus dollars tell all you need to about the insurance "industry". Why should we support the buggy whip industry, just because it is 20% of the "economy". What economy??
What does the health insurance "industry" CONTRIBUTE to anything?? Not safer hospitals, not better procedures. Just great life styles for the top dogs.
Pres Obama has played the process well. Chess in not played for show or flip flair. It is played to help the American people.
Yes, making law is a messy thing. As Harry Truman said, Get out of the kithen.”

“No tea party attended, just the obvious...Obama has been cowtowing to the right constantly, and it has gotten him nowhere...how did that little dinner with all the Repub commentators turn out...did it shut them up or cause them to be more objective about his poltiical intentions? Of course not! What it DID garner is more blathering and attacks on him. How about the fact that Baucus' bill, which has been received well by Obama, has garnered NO Repub votes? How difficult was it for Obama to understand that Repubs have no intention of meeting him half way on anything...the sooner he faces this reality, the better, and that will be the time to start cracking heads and taking names...Obama needs to start to be an all out b--ll buster, with all those who seek to wish him ill...”

“What a bunch of checker players who happen upon a chess match and are shocked that their favorite person hasn't trounced all others on the field in the first round.
It is just eight months of Obama in office. Give me a break. Sit down, listen, watch. Wait eighteen to twenty four to thirty six months.
Even wait for the second term. Our issues cannot all be number-one-today-or-else. Quit the "Are we their yet". Remind but don't wine.”

masher replied on Sep 20, 2009 at 13:00:29

“This is the favorite agrument of the Obama supports who remain. The argument is similar to arguments used to support Bush.

Obama has done things. He has a record and it is clearly a pro-Wall Street record. The bailouts of GM (forcing the unions to take huge cuts but letting Rick Wagner keep a $10 million retirement) and his refusal to end H-1B work visa programs (which we know are full of fraud and increase unemployment and drive down wages). That is his record. If you support that then fine, you must have loved Bush. Good for you.”

JackNasty replied on Sep 20, 2009 at 10:57:52

“We all know Obama is playing triple decker 3D chess, The problem is Republicans are playing kick the can. Everytime the can hits Obama's triple decker chess board, the boards and the pierces go flying across the playground.

A pattern is emerging. Obama keeps trying to appease the GOP bullies by turning his freinds over to them. If Obama and his most sycophantic supporters keep alienating the Democratic base in this way, he won't have many support left by 2012.”

Commented Aug 17, 2009 at 05:33:32 in Media

“Yes, even cannibalism requires a moral code, but health care is not moral in its American application. If it may raise my cost, leave those "others" out. If it makes lth lines longer, leave those "others" out. If it may have a negitive effect on the insurance companies, and the chairman's compensation with a personal jet, leave those "others" out.
When those "others' are poor, I don't speak up, cus I'm not poor. When the "others" are the out of work, I don't speak up, cuz I have a good job. When the "others" are not a member of a professional group that offers a health care plan, I don't speak up cuz I graduated from college and have a professional group. I don't need to worry about the least of these, cuz I am a member of the Baptist Church or Roman Cathlic Church and my leaders haven't told me what to do. I do not need to speak up as a citizen of the "Christian Nation", cuz my nation can justify any atrosity if it benefits "me".
And we have a problem with Muslems??”
