Obama Reiterates That He Won't Negotiate Until Debt Ceiling Is Raised And Shutdown Is Ended

Commented Oct 8, 2013 at 19:04:54 in Politics

“Funny that Obama can call others extortionists- he has done nothing but extort since he has been in office. I do not believe he was actually elected (only 1 person I know or have spoken to voted for him) and no, I doubt Bush was voted in either. This country is heading face first into a dictatorship and our "leader" is more than ready, he is salivating all over himself. Maybe the republicans suck, democrats do to so at least one party has the balls to stand up to our new wanna be dictator and his groupies. Obamacare was developed to take Americans extra money and have a reason, the same as how they keep trying to remove any protection we could have for ourselves. It was also implemented to do what people refused to do for the "Mandatory Census", give all our personal information freely to our government. Sad really that more can't see what is actually happening. Everyone is so caught up in which political party they want to be that they are willing to give up their most basic of liberties to be "right" at least for a moment. Sad that the only people Americans can be proud of are our awesome WWII vets who stormed the gates once again to fight for what was already supposed to be free, and the republican leaders willing to not back down. To them I say thank you. I wish I believed it would work but unfortunately I do not.”

“It is no longer a nightmare--the "American People" (still think it must be fixed, only 1 person I know voted for the winner. Strange.) Voted for all his ignorance and his friends ignorance as a whole. He and his counterparts (who we prob don't even know) are taking over and destroying this country and worse than that, we are letting them. SADDDDD. Maybe when we have nothing someone, or all of us left will do something.”

“You are all so angry...very sad and most of you have already proven me right by your own comments. There are so many things you could be spending your energy on like I don't know, helping others instead of focusing on things that no human has the absolute answer to. Unfortunate that you cannot see that side of it. A closed mind is a dead one. The ice is melting, and more is being created in other areas, maybe more of you should do more research. It's all natural. What isn't natural is the anger and hatred we all spew at one eachother so freely. Maybe thats what is melting away the ice...hmmm. Have at it, I'm out.”

“Ok, you should really read your own. Quoting all kinds of things is simply copying others to sound, or prove your point. People who think and see for themselves see the whole picture. It is unfortunate that you quote so many things but simply leave out any of the other top scientists and studies that do not get all the hype and glamour desired--there are just as many if not more by now, studies to completely show your inaccuracies but hey, we all choose what we wish to believe. No place for me to tell you what to think. My intention is only to get people to think, not follow. Maybe if you weren't so angry we could continue but anger leads to ignorance and you learn nothing. I hope you have a peaceful evening.”

“I'm not angry. I'm baffled by your complete aversion to reality, and your ability to remain indifferent towards something that is impacting so many people's lives.

Would you like to point me to a single scientific paper published within the past decade that denies climate change? Or can't you? Have you actually read any papers on this subject, do you understand the science behind climate change, or are you simply repeating what you've heard others say?

My point is that when it comes to science, you cannot simply "choose what to believe in." When it comes to philosophy, religion, morality, by all means, think for yourself. But when we're talking about objective knowledge of the physical universe? You don't get to decide what's true and what isn't.”

“Yeah you are right! The dino's and ALL the others must have driven a billion cars to accomplish their task...get a grip. Learn to think for yourself. Mother nature could care less what we do, however, the earth will clean itself when needed just as it has over, and over and over, and yes over again. If we have any impact it would be so small its not worth mentioning. We are not that significant. Maybe you should be better informed and stop listening to all the hype from the powers that be, oh yeah, have you heard the latest? Eggs are now good for you again! and many other things, and some are now not because well, that's who wants some more money. Kinda obvious...thank you for replying though, I usually refuse to debate, it was fun.”

“Science (n.): Systematic knowledge of the physical or material world gained through observation and experimentation.

Science is not something you choose to believe in, it's not something you can understand by connecting the dots (what few you have) or "thinking for yourself." It's objective knowledge.

You seem to have fabricated these arguments out of thin air. "Mother nature could care less what we do"--where is your proof? The melting ice caps? The holes in the ozone layer, that were demonstrably created by our use of CFCs? "If we have any impact, it would be so small that it's not worth mentioning"--so small that only 97% of scientists have mentioned it?

There is one hidden bit of truth in that wall of gibberish you just posted: it is our duty as responsible citizens to become better informed on these matters. That is why I suggest you read a textbook on basic chemistry or geology, or a few peer-reviewed publications about climate change, rather than learning your pseudo-science from corrupt politicians who take bribes from Exxon-Mobile and other big oil interests.”

“By the way--thank you for making me chuckle, how bout that climate change?? Doesn't seem to be working out as planned (or preached) lol too funny”

frsoap on Nov 5, 2012 at 16:08:27

“What's funny is how misinformed and poorly thought out your post is. Oh wait, that's not funny, it's aggravating.

Humans have a profound impact on climate change. There is a 97% consensus in the scientific community that the current warming trend is manmade. No matter how much you lie or bury your head in the sand, the climate is warming and we are warming it.

Global warming is not a "natural occurence" of the Earth. Climate change is influenced by a number of factors, but none of them are random; the Earth doesn't just decide to melt glaciers. The temperature is controlled by the chemistry of our atmosphere. Events like major volcanic eruptions can change the chemistry of our atmosphere, and create a positive feedback loop that changes the climate. Humans are currently changing the chemistry of our atmosphere by spewing greenhouse gases faster than natural processes (like photosynthesis and dissolution into the ocean) can remove them.”

“global warming is a natural occurance of the earth--humans have almost zero affect on this process. If we could stop trying to make ourselves so important, maybe we could prepare better instead of just learning to debate better. As far as Sandy aftermath--how much does it take to make ppl leave and come back later?? Common sence, that area is going down. It has been for a long time. Many areas worldwide are going to go down and I guarentee you those ppl will find a better place to settle (SMART)”

“There are tens of thousands of volunteer NYers helping with cleanup, food prep and distribution, and emergency health services. The problem is that many of these people in badly damaged areas refused to obey the mandatory evacuation order, and now they are refusing to leave their homes and go to shelters. I don't understand their motivations, but I do understand that we can't save people from all the consequences of their own bad decisions. Shame on you for trying to blame the hard working first responders, volunteers, and relief workers.”
