“I CAN only speak for myself.

If you can relate, so be it.

If you cannot, well skip on to the next comment.

It was a general statemen; nonetheless, the corporations rule and most people work for them. NO more mom and pop stores or manufacturing.

Corporations also run Congress. And they care not for unions. THey do not care to be regulated.

Most importantly, corporations are not individuals. THey are a collection of stockholders who are sometimes in the 1000s. SO if the corporation mucks up how do you deal with it? (I do not mean you, incase you should again take offense).

Corporate personhood should be repealed yesterday. Give us back the manufacturing base and our middle class.

I actually work for myself and teach.

Sorry to have offended you though. You're probably a nice guy.”

Get your facts straight.

Republican th>gs and Republican evangelicals are contemptible--your policies are those of endless war, although there was one recent Repub President who warned us about endless war and mercenaries.

Pay our soldiers, train our soldiers, give them the big bucks that mercs make.

“I feel ya! I'm finished with both major parties myself. Obama has disappointed me over and over. I feel tricked!

We have a Green party mayor I campaigned for. THat is where my vote will go. Or for another third party. It is long past time for us to throw the bums out!

Save the Middle Class! They make the money and buy the products that keep the econ cycle moving. Bring back our jobs!

But throw out the old men in the senate--and the old ladies, including Snowe job, and her buddy Susan. I'm still pissed at Nancy for not impeaching Bush. Incredible that Repubs had the audacity-there's that word again-to impeach CLinton when he shilled for them every chance he got. But to leave BUsh standing while he lied to us every day is unconscionable.”

“They always say how irrelevant Republicans are . . . then spend the rest of the hour talking about them."...in an effort to educate the ignorant, religiofanatics that the AMerican sheeple have become.
I watch and love both Keith O and Rachel for they are (oh and Ed Schultz) they are the only ones speaking the truth. I love it when Keith gets on one of his tirades against the pathetic, arrogant swashbuckling Bushjr.

You see, Americans have given up on science, and built their scheme of how the world works on the literal interpretation of the Bible.

Then we have the pretend Republicans who are only interested in taking your money. They will do or say anything, no obstruction is too shameful for them.

I prefer Democracy Now to all of the major news joints, who are all in the pocket of General Electric, nee Haliburton, nee Murdoch. Or something close.

Republican elitists such as Barbara Bush, give Americans a bad name.”

My sister lived communally all her life and people took care of each other where she lived. I'm not saying communes are cr@p (and I do not like that word so apologize for using it) at all. That's what is sounded like though. I'm just sayin that that lifestyle has passed in the US. Didn't even think about the kibutz. We all need to think more about sharing that is for sure.”

What is this cr@p about communes?”

Patroclus replied on Dec 30, 2009 at 16:57:35

“The commune quip of *steelworker is a good example of the problem the country faces. Citizens who, having bought the mythology, now take stands against their own self-interest. When you can convince workers that unions are bad for them, that massive transfers of wealth from them to the wealthy is good, that continuing with 37th class health system is desirable, that their own government is bad, etc. then you have an electorate that cannot make decisions in its own interest, much less the country's. The kibbutz system in Israel is a fine example of where the commune system worked and still works. It is not the only example. But when you only know what you have been told, buy the empty rhetorical political, economic and ideological cant of the right, then... well.... communes are automatically bad, even if never personally experienced.”

“Jackrusselterrier is exactly right!

"The plutocrats donate to both sides of the aisle. They hedge their bets well. They donate the most money to those who have the political power. They have no loyalty to any team."

There is no USA anymore. It is team EXXON, team Walmart, team BofA.

These are teams, not nations. These are corporations who have no social responsibility and yet are given the sacred rights of PERSONHOOD. Thereafter, they cannot be charged as a group. The corporation is charged as a PERSON. And the one bad PERSON in the corporation (team/global corporation) does not suffer.

The corporation can rip off the consumer and suffers little. A slap, a million dollar fine that is chump change to them.

Get over the idea that we are a NATION. We are owned and ruled by corrupt cronies who control the corporations.

Gosh, I like that --corrupt cronies control corporations.

“We are waiting for a ruling from the SCOTUS on exactly that.

The fact that their decision should have come out 12/02/09 and hasn't yet isn't a good sign for the people.

If the SCOTUS rules in favor of the corporation we will cease to exist as a Republic, we will be living under a Plutocracy, aka Corporatism, aka Fascism. I've got a feeling most Americans won't go for that so I would eventually expect a lot of riots and broken glass. However, if I am wrong and the American people fall into line passively we will become a population taxed and charged into indentured-servitude.”

“To Mum abnd Daffy,
I had not expected a response, especially several days later, Mum.

But, yes, I do think that it is a religious war.

And I still think religion is a scourge. You can definately point to a few altruistic folks, such as King, Ghandi, (Not Mother Theresa though) and find their good acts. I gotta give it to ya.

I am trying to think of those "few good athiests" mum and daffy but athiests have been forced into hiding until some brights actually forced it into the open most recently in well-received books--and that's a good thing. For millenia athiests have been forced to hide their true thoughts on the universe. This has been especially true in the American South. The Great Awakening of the 1990s caused several of my brothers in law to go into the seminary. What a joke!

We could discuss theology and philosophy all day long. My bottom line is that there are not ghosts or supernatural beings. And religion has caused more wars than it has prevented. And as far as the Christians and the Muslims at war in the middle east-- it is war for oil fought by the Western block (see how the US Air Force uses evangelical activity) versus the Eastern block (nuff said) in a struggle for scarce resources.

There are some good Christians, good hindiis and Bhuddists.
Athiests, pagans is a better term, do not need God to cause them to do good works.”

“blah blah blah and blah blah blah.

The point is that atheists are finally voicing their opinions in the open. Stating the obvious truth, that there is no personal god (Unless you created one from whole cloth in the nether region of your mind) has always been dangerous. ONe could be burned at the stake or put on the rack or shunned by the sunday school crowd. Always. until a few writers spoke up and stated the obvious. I do not agree with everything they say. I don't care so much about the details. The point is that there is no personal god listening to your pathetic prayers.

Meditation is good. That is a calming practice. And people are connected spiritually when they make music together. That is a beautiful thing. BTW, that is why there is music in every church you will ever attend.”

daffey replied on Dec 24, 2009 at 18:52:45

“Actually, it isn't an 'obvious' truth. It's a belief. Just like the belief there is one.

Please show me the 'Sunday school crowds' that burned people at the stake or put them on the rack please. How about the atheist countries of the 20th century that slaughtered tens of thousands who failed to renounce their faith. Yeah, that's fun.

You don't care about the details? Sure you do. You just listed some (a few that were wrong, but who's counting?). You seem only to care about the details you don't agree with. Those you do, you don't care. You are basically saying your spiritual belief is THE spiritual belief that is the TRULY TRUE TRUTH. In addition, you don't seem to concerned about the well-being of those who don't conform to your TRULY TRUE TRUTH. Which is, of course, the problem that has infected history - whether from religious or non-religious people.”
