“Once again folks, when financial companies act in a manner that compromise our national security then they need stricter federal oversight. And what has Dimon been spewing forth these last 5 years while simultaneously his own bank has continued to committ vaste amounts of fraud(albeit screwing his own shareholders while making himself rich(...er)? He has demanded of congress and the likes, as though he was some sort of Olympian God, that the fed needs to get our of his business.”

“This is why we have the scientific method and human interpretation. Rather than using an anecdotal event and declaring it universal we sample a larger population and measure the outcome. So if your grandma ate ice cream and then went swimming and drowned, we can no more say that eating ice cream causes drowning then drinking hot chocolate creates frostbite. However, both of these examples are a statistical anomaly, but that is where human intelligence serves us. Otherwise we are a superstitious society that burns women we call witches because their black cat crossed our path the very day I caught the flu.”

“Your rationale for disputing this is impecable. By invoking the "utterly wrongheaded" clause I now am beginning to see that the vast amounts of peer reviewed evidence based scientific research that directly links obeseity to morbidity and early mortality is just "wrongheaded" -this just blows my mind. Pull out your diving rod and ask it about smoking and cancer.”

Ossit on Oct 7, 2013 at 12:56:40

“In Kitla's defense, they're entitled to their opinion, patspov. Obesity is fear mongered. Not everyone is immediately sick because of it, and smoking and cancer? My father barely smoked a pack and half and he got lung cancer. Mom and her mom smoked like a chimney, like I do when I can afford cigs, well I've never had cancer because of it, mom died of alchoholism when people promote alchohol for "heart health" and granny died of ovarian cancer which mom didn't die of and which I don't have. Granny would've been considered underweight today at only 100lbs soaking wet.”

Dragontech on May 17, 2013 at 11:56:47

“That is not what the article is doing. The article simply describes areas that due to culture or availability of outdoor activity areas are more or less active. There is more to a healthy life style than activity, like clean air and water, dietary choices, stress, "recreational pharmaceuticals" and alcohol, crime rates (which, granted, is beyond our control).”

“Where is Jesus when we need him the most? I've read his sermons and I am pretty confident that he would not be a card carrying NRA member no matter how much the NRA would like you to think they have a direct line and monopoly to religious authority.”

Radscal on May 8, 2013 at 23:06:23

“I, too doubt if Jesus (or any Messiah in the Hebrew tradition) would have supported the NRA, but this whole "Prince of Peace" thing is overrated.

Of course, there were no guns in Jesus' time. What they had were swords:

"“Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword."

~ Jesus quoted in Matthew Matthew 10:34

And:

"... if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."

~ Jesus quoted in Luke 22:35-38

And according to John 18:10, Jesus' apostle, Simon Peter was a sword concealed carrier, which was demonstrated when he pulled it out and sliced off a servant's ear at Jesus' arrest.”
