Obama One Year Later: The Audacity of Winning vs. The Timidity of Governing

“I wish people would stop projecting and complaining especially when they do not even know Obama. This is making the Rethugs charge that the Democrats are a party of whiners true. I dislike the extremes of both political parties. And which the baby boomer generation would just go away. What have they accomplished in their 30 years of having the reins of power. I'll take Obama' 10 months to the baby boomers 30.”
The Myth That Michael Jackson Was Happy And Healthy

The Myth That Michael Jackson Was Happy And Healthy

“It really strange that in one way we expect artists to more than human. Alot of us had painful childhoods inwhich we haven't dealt with totally and have to face constantly in interpersonal relationships with friends and love one. I guess because of his fame and money we demanded Michael to get over it. Strange. I don't think Michael had a happy and balanced life. I don't think most great artists do. It as if the pain they suffered fuels their creativity. You can name the artists in any field that had a happy and balanced life. Tom Hanks, Paul Newman and Paul McCartney. Even the artists I cited struggled to fine that balance. I too don't think that Michael was a pedopile. But his gravitational pull was toward children that he saw himself in. He wasn't just trying to relive childhood but was trying to heal the hurt of a child as if he was healing the hurt in him. Watching the This Is It movie just confirms that this was a great artist who was able to give it his all even with the chains that binded him.”

Arrianna, I didn't agree with your need to have spas booths at the 2008 DNC while the economic crash was occurring. This sounds like another brain dead idea. Huffington Post is going full steam ahead into becoming irrelevant. What went wrong since the campaign coverage?”

Nice Point Hillary, Now We'll Just Wait for McCain to Make It

Commented Aug 20, 2008 at 16:02:34 in Politics

“You notice how Democrats always yap and second guess their nominee. And the republicans sit back and say nothing unless something major like floating the idea of a pro-choice VP. While people are wasting time quabbling about what kind of venue Obama should give his speech in. Wasting time and space. Stop the nitpicking and go after the Republicans. Democrats are so self defeating it is scary.”

taurus96 replied on Aug 20, 2008 at 16:34:14

“I notice Hillary had a bunch of people (democrats, senators etc.} talking and helping her with the primaries. I do not hear the same for Obama, we democrats do not deserve to win. We do nothing to help our candiates, when McCain tells lies, what democrat stands up and lets him have it.You all want to keep your elected offices.I hope someone is keeping a list. If we win, I want to see payback. Are you listening Nancy and Harry.”

“Obama doesn't sit around reading this crap. This is his choice and his choice alone. If Obama can't pick anyone who supported the Iraq war then no one from the Senate including Biden would get the nod.

Focus more on selling the progressive agenda to swing voters and liberal Repubicans and leave who is best to govern with Obama to Obama.”

Elizabeth Edwards Drank Her Husband's Kool-Aid And Became His "Ambition Enabler"

Commented Aug 09, 2008 at 22:36:22 in Politics

“No one is juding Elizabeth choice, we are juding her judgement of go forward in partnership with her hubsand as he pursued the Presidency, knowing this lie was hanging over his head. Lying to the American Public while campaigning. I don't care about the affair, I care about the lie and cover up. Because that what does politicans in. And the lie and coverup could have been about anything that is so morally and ethnically wrong.

But it sickens me that women still think they have to deal with this crap to further their own ambition. Wasn't feminism supposed to counter that? Thank goodness I wasn't raised that way- my mother fled with me from her abusive husband, worked her way thru nursing school, raised me and my sister, became an distinguished professional in her career and later married a man who honored her with love and respect.

Yea, it took her longer to reach her professional height but she was proud that the acheivement was exclusively hers and she didn't have to warp her dignity in the process.”

She is fighting cancer. She may not live longer and she has years invested with her HUSBAND and is concerned about her children.

I am pretty sure she could care less about "furthering her own ambition".”

Elizabeth Edwards Drank Her Husband's Kool-Aid And Became His "Ambition Enabler"

Commented Aug 09, 2008 at 22:18:49 in Politics

“What, you don't even believe what they are saying. Edwards said he ended the affair in 2006 and told his wife. Elizabeth said she was informed in 2006 and they were dealing with it privately. Late 2006 John announced his bid for presidency. They should of spared us this agony and thank goodness he didn't win the nomination or it we would be saying President McBush!”

Fabienne replied on Aug 10, 2008 at 01:06:54

“How many Presidential candidates have had adulterous affairs? At least if we winnowed them out it should narrow the field considerably. Bye bye Jefferson, Roosevelt, Clinton, McCain, Reagan and we don't know who else.”

Elizabeth Edwards Drank Her Husband's Kool-Aid And Became His "Ambition Enabler"

Commented Aug 09, 2008 at 22:16:50 in Politics

“As much as I respect Elizabeth and her talent and struggles, she indeed was an enabler of John. Colin Powell's wife shot down the idea of Colin running for President due to safety concerns. If indeed the Edwards are in a marriage of partnership-someone in that relationship had to be realistic and say honey you can't run for President with this big lie hanging over your head. We know John isn't that pragmatic but I expected Elizabeth would be.

I think the affair is a private matter and don't need anymore details but the lie and coverup is a public interest because the lie and cover up was directed squarely at the American people.”

Memo to Obama: Moving to the Middle is for Losers

“Also, one time a person (woman) complained to FDR about the deplorable conditions of workers and asked FDR to do something. FDR told the lady to go out there and make him do it. So she convened with labor organization, developed a 10 point plan, held rallys and marches and FDR Part 2

responded by acting on some of the agenda items.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink. Obama knows this too well. You need a grassroot movement plus a President willingly to listen to effect change. Obama is a shrewd and ruthless (goodway) politican. He knows and protects his brand and core values to the upmost and leads people by not beating them over the head and say your position is wrong, do what I say. He listens, incorporates their language and in a socratic way leads them to his way of thinking and inspires them to follow his lead.

Name one President that ran as a liberal purist and won. None. End of story.”

tom ellison replied on Jul 01, 2008 at 17:12:48

“But he IS a liberal purist. So what you're saying is he's just like any other politician: say whatever it takes to get elected. I thought this election was about change? Guess not...”

“Grasping at straws. Obama has what Dean didn't- ground organization. His background of being a community activist will serve him well in Iowa. Unlike Clinton who did not understand that fact according to Vilesack, and just started to amp up her ground forces. Clinton thought she could just run on Bill's record and name and wait for the cornation she deemed was hers.”

Would I support Hillary if she wins the nomination? Absolutely! But I do not support her in the primaries and would love to see Barack hand her a pair of defeats in Iowa and New Hampshire.”

Yes, she has experience, experience in the DLC, old boy, network. She never was a grassroots oriented person. That's why she was outmanuevered on the health care issue when she it was delegated to her by Bill. She never went to the grassroots.”
