World's Worst Photo-Fit Helps Police Capture Murderer

World's Worst Photo-Fit Helps Police Capture Murderer

Commented Nov 24, 2009 at 16:44:12 in World

“What a horrible non story, there is no picture of the suspect to show resemblance to the crude drawing, no explanation of how the drawing helped, or why a police sketch artist couldn't work with the child like any other witness to produce a viable likeness. Huff is getting worst trying to fill space.”

“If you read the article, near the end it says that in Bolivia, they cannot show pictures of people accused of a crime by law. They could stand to do a bit more of that here, actually. The point of the article is that they have identified someone based on a picture that could be nearly anyone, which means it is likely that they have identified the wrong person.”

“How noble of so many to believe that they are so advanced and have achieved nirvana by shutting off their cell phones or rejecting technological advances. Sure there are some down sides such as limiting personal contact, but progress will happen weither you come along or not. I avoided getting a micro wave for years until I realized that I could enjoy the benefit of it without becoming totally dependent on it. Today nearly every household has one and yet stoves and cook tops still exist in every modern kitchen. I own an iphone and have found it a great and necessary tool, not a toy. Sure I have many entertaining apps on my iphone. I also use it for accessing news websights (which allows me to locate just what i need without wasting the time of browsing through nonsense), Banking, shopping, dictionary, encycopedia, social networking, e-mail both personal and business, travel research, etc. etc As long as you are using the device puposely their is not danger of it taking your soul.”

“I guess the game plan of the republicans is to spend as much time as possible during the next 3 years putting out ridiculous articles and assertions about President Obama in hopes that people get tired of him. The only results that they will achieve is more of what their madness is yielding now, which is republican fatigue. People are already tired of being reminded that the republican party have lost all credibility and is the party of corporate America and the extreme right wing fringe. Keep up the good work, my belief is that nothing has strengthend President Obama's position and popularity more than the constant ridiculous republican attacks.”

People you have to stop and think if your Pride is as important as your life or freedom. Pride is the only reason minor conflicts turn into major events. That is why it is considered a Deadly Sin, "Pride Comes Before The Fall".”

“Clinton is placing himself squarly in opposition with his comments, not in the middle. If he wanted to do something to help the people of ark. he would be there with bells on supporting the Clinic and bringing the out of touch Lincoln on board. Health care is for the people, the only ones against it are greedy insurance companys and their greedy paid politician and shills. Its not important if the headline is inaccurate (lot of that here on huff) the sentiments of Bill Clinton are clear and they are wrong.”

“Dollar Bill has once again entered the land of lost minds, hasn't he done enough research before this latest tirade to know that Olbermanns efforts have directly help promote and fund these free Health care forums. The fact is that Bill Clinton has successfully politicized the event by putting his 1-1/2 cents in. This is Clintons attempt to remain relevant in the health care debate after the complete failure of his Administration to make any progress on the issue. Hillary constantly brought up her failure in health care during the primary as some sort of indication that she would have better results as President. President Obama intentionally left Hillary out of the health care debate to avoid the further polarization of health care by resurrecting hard core Clinton haters. Congradulations Billy Boy, you have successfully placed another obstacle in the way of health care.”

“Congradulations, needless to say I found contention with his past and didn't agree with many of his positions, but the reason he is still there is because the people of his district are happy with his work. Its easy to say that its because of voter apathy as one post states, but if he didnt get the work of the people done and didnt represent their position he would have never lasted this long. Yes, Byrd is a strict Constitutionalist ; but everyone should agree that there are some outdated measures in that fine document. Unfortunately Byrd now has some Diminished Mental and Physical Capacities and its time for Constituency (in my Humble and less informed opinion) should enlist some fresh blood.”

“This is no doubt a case of small town Politics and over zealous if not corupt or at least incompetent police. I encounter dozens of people like Ms Ellis monthly in Supermarkets, Department stores, and Convienence stores. They are impatient, rude, and even disrespectful. At times these encounters end up in heated arguments (never with me), but not once has it ended in an arrest or fist fight. Much less a trial with charges that carry a hefty prison term. This story should read "Police arrest line jumper under charges of disturbing the peace", but instead these supposedly professional law inforcement officers turned a simple disturbance into a national protest; scaring the reputation of an entire town. Ms Ellis should get community service as a check out girl/women at the same store where she created the disturbance and the incompetent cops should be fired.”

How about acting like you have a grain of sense and the cops don't get called.

"Couples Retreat" Poster In UK Removes Black Couple

Commented Nov 16, 2009 at 07:21:30 in Entertainment

“Its funny how so many can quickly dismiss blatant racism and chalk in up as some sort of thoughtless mistake. Beyond the racist act of omitting the black couple, what about the act of putting the only couple of color out of four diminished and in the background. This is an old trend and it tells me that the advertisers are afraid of loosing revenue from one segment of the population (by offending them with viewing another culture of people considered to be inferior in an equal setting), yet secured that offending another segment will be tolerated and/or overlooked. The not so recent pratices of charging someone with playing the race card whenever a person of color cries foul to blatant or hidden racist acts is relied upon to make people hesitant of confronting these acts. No different than claming that a Jew is too sensitive when he precieves and confronts an anti semitic statement or act. As long as people of conscience continue to rush to the defense of the people who engage in these acts and statement, perpetrators will continue to have cover and will not hesitate to repeat them.”

VSamuels replied on Nov 16, 2009 at 09:16:41

“There is much debate whether those who "rush to the defense of the people who engage in these acts and statements" are in fact, describable as 'people of conscience' or people whose culture has made available excuses to rationalize its behavior towards non-whites, whenever their actions are questionable. You hit the nail on the head, with your first few sentences; no need to let them off of the hook by seeking to find a nice way to describe them, such folks are a part of an on-going delusion made available whenever their behavior and attitudes do not gel with being correct. These double standards are and always have been at the center of the subjective treatment of those outside of the dominate culture, who were judged as objects of what they thought and believed was fair and humane treatment. Even, to the point of thinking that their actions were even, even as they knew that they were the receipants of better treatment.

Such folks cling to self-denial, because otherwise they must face themselves and the conclusion of systems that they have been vastly unwilling to resolve.”

“Once again the so called News Media goes for the quick, Darling story of the litttle cop that could (not to belittle Kimberly Munleys actions or her part in bringing down the Fort Hood Gunman). As usual there was absolutely no investigative reporting, just someone asking anyone questions and writting it down to be fed as soon as possible to the hungry public. This story sidestep the presses own responsibilty for what it puts out and blame the military for eroneous information. I've personally witness the press avoid finding out the truth when a juicier story was readily available from a quotable source. Its no wonder why news has become entertainment instead of information. usually after hearing a story for the first time i can easily recognize when something just doesnt make sense; and usually after a few days that story magically morphs into something else without explanation.”
