Palin: Burning Bridges to Everywhere
Commented Apr 05, 2009 at 14:35:16 in Politics
“Talk about drinking the kool aid! Your grand dad taught you true.... I can not fathom why anyone thinks Reagan would be good for the 21st century when he was so wrong for the 20th. Perhaps because we are so close to easter and thoughts of resurrection abound somehow this poor chap got politics and religion all mixed-up. Or maybe with Palin's political career so close to death ...and there being no other viable (living) republican candidates on hand..well the ole "R" man came to mind. Personally, I'll keep my eye on Jesus alone for the resurrection and let Ronnie RIP as he should. Sarah not the first or second coming of anything that would be any good for America. In this life or any other fantasy.”

“Spot on! De Silva opened the door for a more honest discussion and look at what is happening around the world...in cluding America. Poor people and the former middle class, are still being asked to do more, shoulder more of the financial burden created by the very wealthy. I for one have had enough of my pockets getting picked by taxes on this, that, and double for everything else. Middle class is a smoke screen for working poor.....y ou own nothing! You pay until you die...peri od. If you get sick and can no longer pay...our sweet government comes along and throws you out of the house you built and paid for your whole life. Taxes owed on your car? They will make sure you can not register it until you pay the taxes and of course you also have to pay to register it EVERY YEAR TOO. CHANGE IS LONG OVER DUE... and can not come soon enough for me. Greed has MADE LIFE H3LL but it is double h3ll for people of color here and abroad.”
Advice to Palin: Give the GOP Elephant His Job Back

“There is so much that I do not like about Ms. Palins politics and personality I simply don't know where to begin. I will never forget her appearence onto the national stage...in cluding the interviews and vice-presidental debate. I have not seen any qualities that suggest that she is qualified to lead the United States of America in any capacity. I do not need to demonize this woman. She under qualified, period.
Her lack of humility and blind ambition further accentuates her lack of substance and knowledge base. I think she could have pulled out of this mess if she stepped up and admitted that the whirlwind was more than she bargained for...and that she would be better prepared next time...bla h,blah, bla h. Instead she has blamed her disasterous behavior and performance on everyone else. Her own ethics should have informed her that it was not appropriate to spend public money on clothes for herself and family. As a public servant she should already know better.... but she did not...and does not. This is a very small thing that she should know hands down without being told or reminded. She is not ready to lead the country.”

“Interesting story. Unfortunately, no one ever seems really interested in someone killing Africans. ...or in Africans who are dying whether it is from genocide, AIDS, famine, draught whatever. Americans have been lied to so often about everything that happens in this region and it never gets any better. We send millions in aide and then we are told the money has been stolen. We send medicine and we are told it is being sold on the black market. The world bank & global markets will never admit to the resource wars that are killing idigenous people all over the world... and yes, if they attempt to fight them off before they steal everything in sight..... the powers that be will turn on them and kill them. This is foreign policy at its worse. I'm hoping that the new administration will care more and do better by everyone foreign & domestic. Starting with our own home shores first as there are kids in the US who eat about as little as a child in the third world - simply starving in the midst of plenty. And guess what, to those children it seems as if nobody in the world cares for them either.

“I awoke and looked out upon the world and I saw all that I needed, towards confirmation, that love is more powerful than hate, that hope is different from despair. From there, choices about how to be, how to see, how to act -- abound. If I am able to reflect beauty that is good news. It means that I see beauty I around me. I see beauty in the possibilities we have yet to realize. There is breathtaking beauty inherent in people such as yourself, and indeed, in all people, though we all fall short from time to time. By what degree becomes the assessment. This is why glass houses are bad investments. This is why none of us can bend to pick up the stone as one who is free of error, mistake, or sin. If I reflect darkness and despair, it is only because I seek to talk about light and hope in presenting a contrasting canvas upon which to express the opposing sentiment. There can be no happiness without sadness or beauty without the ugly. I am inspired by the mix of things to bring what I humbly bring to this most important conversation. It is always appreciated when I am told it is beauty that I am reflecting. I have no aim other than to let the water flow unrestricted. Manifesting a waterfall is always a nice thing to here about.

“It is of utmost importance that we do everything we can as citizens to make sure that this new administration is successful. Democrats have a habit of turning on their own and eating them alive over the slightest mistakes. Nothing Dubya did in all of eight years caused the repugs to turn on him. That is why the fool was actually elected the second time around. Obama has yet to take office and already so many Dems are bristling and spoiling for a reason to tear him a new one. This will only work , if We the people work it. We beat the odds to get Obama elected... now we have to continue to work together to make the change happen. We can do it!”

“The reason that these programs have "divided the country" is that people have NOT reached a point where the color of someone skin is no longer an issue. Sadly, without the very programs that you target in your post there could very possibly be no PE Obama. Obama proves more that because of these amendments ...given the chance at a level playing field people of color can and will rise. Contrary to your thinking there has never been a free ride for black people...t hat was not first bought and paid for in blood and murder, including I might add, many white people's blood. You really should read more of the history behind these issues.”

Meanwhile I'll continue to treat people with the same respect that I would like to be treated. No more - No less. Fighting racism is like fighting a disease. You can't see it but you can see the result and it is real. That does not mean that everybody in the country needs to be vaccinated for the disease unless they need it. And I will not allow someone else to tell me that I need inoculation without reason to believe that I am vulnerable to the disease just because I am white.”

The same way you would expect white supremacists to hate blacks...w ell, hey ANYthing you say about white supremacists is basically true of the GOP members right now, as the two have basically become synonymous. When the core constituency of a party consists merely of those too dumb, ignorant, insular, hateful, egotistic, and detached from reality to comprehend their own closed-minded contributions to our nation's biggest problem, nothing's surprising anymore.”

There are many republican women far more experienced & qualified to run for POTUS and none of them are trying to save Palin. The men in the Repub party seem to be the only ones really talking about how great she is for the party. However, we know that she would also have to appeal to independents, and some democrats. ..not just men or just party. I hope like many of you to never have to see or hear from her again.”

“Greetings Mennie. A thoughtful and indeed disturbing look at the trend towards divisive race bating and broad painting of otherness by GOP operatives. One of Barack's strongest appeals to the American public is his insistance that we not allow ourselves to be divided and used against our own best interest. We are indeed the United States of America- Native Americans, African Americans, White Americans, Jewish Americans, Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans must take this opportunity to send a strong message to the GOP. We are no longer listening - leave no doubt. Vote Obama/Biden - vote full Democratic ticket. Total public rejection is the only way the American majority can send them a clear message about how we see America's future. Let them decide whether they still want to be a relevant part of that American dream where we are all equal and working for the greater good.”

“Gross Generalization keep the Republican party. Their theory? That all people fall into different pockets and stay there. A "true American" is a small town hard working white protestant. A "graduate" from Yale or Harvard have an elitist attitude that cannot understand the true American. Women like to vote for women. Especially women that work and care for a family. Jews vote a certain way and come from big cities, therefore they cannot fall into the "true American category. Anyone ethnic is different and have wierd traditions and belong on the fringe of this country's ideas. Can Joe the Plumber decide to give up plumbing and go to Yale or send his son to Yale? Democrats understand that people cross-over. A woman who is a Lesbian and is Jewish and, with her Catholic Partner, owns a restaurant, or a plumbing company, or a Hallmark shop. The 65 year old Grandmother from a small town in Iowa decides to go to University of Iowa to get her bachelors degree, or masters. Or a young man, half African American, half white, graduates from Harvard with high honors and decides to run for President. All these shake the generalities of the Republican ideals.”
