Senate Passes Health Care Bill, 60-39
Commented Dec 24, 2009 at 15:24:23 in Politics
“Pelosi, Bernie Saunders and other so called progressives have sold us out to the insurance companies. Pelosi is giving up the house bill with the public option, surprise, surprise!
They can go ahead and pat themselves on the back because with no public option to enforce competition on the monopolistic insurance companies to keep premiums down this bill is a sell out just like the taxpayer money wastefully given to the " too big to fail banks."
Clean 'em all out, both sides of the aisle, they're all there to enrich themselves and their corporate side kicks. It's one big revolving door. The system is broken.
Maybe we should just kick out the middle person and go to direct voting by the people, we have the electronic means, hell, we go to the moon and travel in space”

“Get a grip! They were together for 23 years more than most 20, 30, or 40 year old couples. It may have nothing to do with the age thing or it might, but don't lose any sleep over it. Wish them the best.”

“Holy Crap.
"Every fantasy the Boomers have lived by--an endlessly expanding economy and money, an endlessly dominant America, staying fit and hot forever with the gym and cosmetic surgery, the good life for their kids as far as the eye can see..."
I'm 57. I love my life, which has had many, many ups and downs, like most of the people I know. I 'm looking forward to my 60's with optimism and zest. The dreams
and hopes I've had include exactly none of the above. I don't equate "staying fit" with
"being hot." And unnless by "the good life for their kids" you mean, health, elligence, joy, humor and compassion.
My fantasies have been, for decades, a world without war, hunger, poverty, injustice,
racism, sexism, youthism, ageism, disease, misinformation, lack of educational opportunities, homelessness, violence, assassinations, arrogant nation-building, gangs, dependency on the automobile, disregard for the environment, junk food, plastic surgery or breast implants for anything other than medical cases, mindless entertainment , games and gizmos, rude, crude people, porn, hucksters, scam artists, quacks, billionaires, houses built to impress rather than to be homes, corporate or any kind of greed, cruelty to animals, children, the elderly, the sick, and bias towards and lack of adequate assistance for people with addictions, physical or mental challenges, and the humorless. and joyless.
I'm dreaming on.”

“Your comment doesn't help anyone, this crap bill needs to go down and progressive dems and republicans can kill it and take it out of the powerful and corrupt lobbyists and insurance monopolies.
Right now, we need everyone on board to fight against the corruption of the takeover by the monopolistic insurance companies and their whores, the lobbyists and congress. Both parties, my friend, are in the pockets of short term profits and screw the American people.”

“The pro-life party, collateral damage doesn't count in their republican churches. If 45,000 people die from lack of affordable healthcare each year, it's not a pro-life issue. It's the fault of the 45,000 people that they get sick and die and they couldn't afford their insurance, that's the republican attitude. Very christian of them, isn't it? The republicans are really something, just trying to figure out what.”

Nothing but profit eventually dehumanizes and you get destructive greed and corruption. It's a better democracy if workers have a voice and representation. Just look at our government it's controlled by the profit driven corporations and all of our country's infrastructures are eroding.
Healthy governments and countries have healthy representation for their population.”

“It is ignorant to think there even is a such thing as purely American made products anymore. If products are assembled in the US, or designed in the US, they probably had parts or raw materials sourced from foreign countries. Case and point: The Toyota Tacoma is made of a greater proportion of American sourced and manufactured parts than the Jeep Patriot.
Ford is doing what is necessary to remain solvent. Walmart is filling a demand for people who want wide selection at low cost. If Ford fails, the union workers employed there also suffer.
Trickle down is always used to disparage Capitalists, but the real evil is when trickle down drips from union bosses or gov't bureaucrats as middlemen. Unlike companies competing in a free market, with union bosses, and power hungry politicians, we don't get to vote with our feet -just once every few years for the lesser of two equally impotent and purchased parties.”

“labor busting and hiring back people at slave wages, the new world order is being put in place with low wage jobs which decimates the middleclass.
A strong middleclass ensures a strong democracy and the status now is that corporations are nothing but predatory global entities that hover over our country only to land to lobby for legislation that gives them all the control and no sustainable investments in our communities.
We're heading back to serfdom in a country who use to cry, " We're number one." Well we're number one in abusing the human condition to make short term profits for the global bottom feeders.”

Hell no, we don't want the insane party back in with no bid contracts, but the insurance companies can't lose with this lobbyists written bill either. So, there's a smidgen of difference right now when it comes to who both parties represent, it's not the American people. Neither party represents us, fact. They represent their deep pockets and corporate America.”

The insurance companies will be receiving taxpayer money, you know, capitalized profits and socialized losses. The insurance companies don't want a real capitalistic system where there's real competition they like to suck at the government teet.”
