“I listened to Senator Franken for a few years on the radio before he decided to run for the Senate and I have to say I learned so I'm not surprised he is doing so well because he is smart and is out there for the good of the American people something that can't be said for the 30 repugs that voted against this bill. Good for you Al keep it up.”

“This isn't an honest question. Right now people that don't have the money to buy expensive healthcare, those with preconditions that nobody will cover and those who are dropped from their insurance when they need it the most, these are peoples biggest concerns and if you don't know these simple facts you are not listening. I've gone to a town hall meeting and nobody was asking for free health care but affordable health care. I guess since you think that some people will be completely ignored yes they might be if their for-profit insurance decides to drop them, you know the non-government insurance that have their own "death panels" that give bonuses to their employees if they can figure out ways to drop the insured. Doesn't that give you a warm and fuzzy? Remember for-profit insurance companies are only accountable to their stockholders.”

“A very good friend of mine lived in Bahrain about 6 mos. before the Abu Ghraib pictures were released. Her husband was a very senior military officer there and she told me that the people in Bahrain were very warm and friendly to her before the pictures became public but after it was whole different story, the difference was like night and day. Soon after all dependants of military personal had to leave for their own safety. Cheney can ignore it all he wants to but Mr. Alexander is correct that the revelations of torture and abuse that I feel came from the top of our government at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo was a huge pitch to all Muslims to fight against us in Iraq . If the people in Bahrain can become hostile to just the families of military personal then think what feelings they had to our soldiers there and in other areas of the Middle East and not acknowledging it to be so does not make it untrue, facts are facts and Cheney continually refuses to rely on facts when they are not in his best interest.”

“I can't wait to see a good picture of Michelle's dress, I think there was detail on the dress that didn't show up on tv. I liked the dress, to me less is more and too many first ladies haven't flet that way in years past .I think using new American designers is refreshing and will obviously help these designers move forward. No doubt Michelle's wardrobe picks won't please everyone all the time but as a 55yr. old white woman I'm looking forward for a bit more fashion forward First Lady.”

“I live in Fairfax County, Va in a quiet neighborhood and within 24 hrs of putting out my Obama/Biden sign it was gone. I now put it out in the morning and take it inside at night. I think Gen. Powell's endorsement will help with active/retired military in Virginia who were on the fence. The fact that Michelle has been meeting with military spouses and listening to their concerns is going to help Obama in this election a lot. With my husband being a retired Naval Officer and a Obamacon I don't remember any Pres. nominee's wife taking time talking to us. I think that military families have been the forgotten ones out there and I'm pleased that the Obama campaign realizes this and has stepped up being in touch with them. I don't hear Cindy doing any of that but then again she seems unable to leave her husband's side.”

“Thank you for a great comment, and your husband's service.

I think the Obama camp is committed to honoring our military, past and present, in a full circle that includes fulfilling the post-service promises we make.”

“I remember after watching Powell speak at the UN and calling my friend saying to her "he doesn't believe what he is saying". Powell still had his soldier hat on and went along with the administration and I think Bush, Cheney and others knew this and used him. I do wish that he endorses Obama because I can't believe that he thinks that Palin is qualified to ever be a VP or Pres. I also think it would matter to the military voters who are on the fence for Obama and since so many of them still respect Powell they would definitely feel more confident to vote for Obama if they know that Powell supports him.”

“I live in Fairfax County, Northern Viriginia and did early voting on Friday since I will be a poll worker for the first time for this election. I voted for Obama it was great! Check with your state and see if they need more poll workers. I decided to volunteer since they expect heavy turnout and if I could help move the lines along by helping than it is worth it for me. This year they are offering not only touch screen voting machines but also paper ballots since the state wouldn't buy anymore touch screens, no paper trail. Although in Fairfax county you need to have a reason to vote early like out of town it is easy to find a reason you can vote at the Government Center and starting on the 15th there are 7 satellite locations thruout the county. By the way I put out my Obama sign on Friday afternoon and on Sat. morning it was gone. I am the first house on a pipestem, not even on the main road and my Rep. neighborhood I guess couldn't take seeing it. My Rep. husband is a retired Naval Officer who is voting for Obama was more upset that someone took it than I was.”

“I received a call from a friend in San Diego whose husband is a Capt. in the Navy. Since San Diego has been known as a Republican city she was surprised to see a lack of Mccain signs and bumper stickers. She has lived in San Diego off and on during her husband career and knows how Republican the area is. Driving around looking for a home to buy she has been all over the area and sees only Obama signs. Both she and her husband will be voting for Obama. Her husband being a legal resident of Pa. will be voting absentee there. Myself living in Va. I really think that the state will go for Obama due to the military because they above everyone know how they have been used by the Republicans these last 8 yrs. Mccain and Palin like to say that Obama is all talk well when it comes to the military Mccain with his voting record has shown that he is all talk and has ignored those veterans that he says he loves.”

“My husband was an officer in the Navy for 20 yrs. and even graduated from the Naval Academy and although he has been a Republican he is voting for Obama and did so in the Virginia primary. It has been great this political season for both of us to be on the same side. My husband believes that Iraq is a no win situation and wants our troops out, this is from a guy who flew in the first Gulf War. He wants someone intelligent and that has a calm demeanor not some old, hothead. I have a lot of Navy friends retired and active that also support Obama, maybe militiary people are tired being used by their Commander in Chief.”

“I think that Obama's campaign is taking this Palin seriously. I don't think this group is going to slow down now when they are so close. I do feel that their grassroots across this nation is so extensive that they might know more than the polls are showing. The vp text messaging was pure genius since they now have a big bank of those all important cell phone numbers. I firmly believe they made a plan and they are sticking to it and I think they are waiting until after the Rep convention to really get things going. I feel that they will begin attacking and will do it when the American public has finally decided to pay attention to this election.”

“I have no idea if Gov. Palin talked to her daughter about sex but I have a daughter and if they want to have sex they will. I just told my daughter if she liked the life she was accustomed to living it would change dramatically if she got pregnant. I love my daughter but I would hold her accountable and I wouldn't make a comment like I am thrilled to be a Grandmother! That said the fact that the Gov said yes to Mccain with this happening to her daughter just makes me wonder how driven this woman really is. It wasn't like she didn't have a job and couldn't make her mortgage, she could have just quietly continued being the Gov. and her daughter would have been spared the publicity. I heard Tucker Bounds, Mccain's spokesperson tonight on CNN say they were hoping that they could keep it a "personal family matter". Could the Mccain campaign really think they could keep this quiet?? Remember when you are running for VP your life and you family's life is an open book.”

“I have to agree with you. In today's hyper-personal political environment you have to believe the coverage of something like this would create more pressure on the 17 year-old mother to be and for that reason alone, I would have been less likely to pursue this campaign.”

Palin: You're no Hillary Clinton

Commented Aug 30, 2008 at 21:03:57 in Politics

“So you would vote for Hillary just because you are a fan? Did you have any idea what she stood for, what were her policies? Real Hillary supporters would not vote for Palin because what she stand for is the complete opposite of what Hillary stands for. It has nothing to do with whether you are an activist but informed voters vote for the candidate whose policies they agree with. I'm sure that Palin is a nice person but an informed voter shouldn't vote for someone who they want to have a beer with, that's what got us in the mess with the Pres. we have now. Those women that say they are Hillary Democrats that will vote for McCain aren't Democrats they are just bitter and give a bad name to women. Palin is against abortion under any conditions and that to me is scary. So if you consider yourself an average American then our country is in real trouble. Remember knowledge is power.”

“Linda, thank you because I feel the same way. Everytime I hear people say they just don't know what Barack stands for I want to scream!!! I've listened to Obama on the CNN live feed on my computer and I've read stuff on his website and even though I don't have a college degree I know what his policies are. When I hear people say stuff like that I have come to the conclusion it is just an excuse they make not to vote for him. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to read what's on the website but I think so much of the population is just lazy and if its not covered on the news they can't bother themselves to find out on their own. How sad is that?? Listen people McCain has neocons advising him and they are just itching to get into another conflict and if that happens only Blackwater and the other war contractors will be making any money.”
