“I am so glad that this man is not our President...he is so petty, so juvinile. I thank God every day I see Pres. Obama or hear Pres. Obama speak. McCain needs to grow up...God knows he old enough.”

Colin Powell Is Ready To Endorse
Commented Oct 15, 2008 at 10:21:05 in Politics
“It won't matter who Powell endorses...He did work for Bush, He lied for him and led our troops into Iraq, knowing good and well we shouldn't be there.....so who cares if he endorses one or the other. I used to praise Colin Powell, now could care less.”

“I partially agree with you but Powell is still a well respected figure in Washington so his endorsement will be good for Obama. It could also be indifferent based on you people who think like you. You see Powell as part of the problem while it could be argued that Powell has been a relatively silent figure in the Iraq war with Bush, Cheney and a few other figures running things while Powell hasn't been in the spotlight.
If Powell does endorse Obama it will be yet another high profile endorsement for Obama although some may think it's racially motivated but at this point the more you talk about Obama the less you talk about McCain and Palin.”

“in my humble opinion, powell was lied to by bush, cheney and mccain. it was powell who pushed for diplomacy and calmness but was overriden by mccain. mccain was one of the two hawks in that triad. he was the one who declared that 9/11 originated from iraq; when we started bombing tora bora, it was mccain who proclaimed "next, baghdad" and subsequently, mimicking the beach boys' song, "bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb iran;" cheney sided with mccain because of his halliburton connection. he saw dollar signs circling around his head. bush wanted to "punish" saddam because of his purported plans to assassinate bush 1.
powell was a well-respected diplomat in the world before this war. he is now reduced to being one of the sub-architect of the war that should never have been waged. it's a shame. powell is world's apart with henry kissinger in terms of diplomacy. he knows war and he knows peace. i'm pretty sure that with the obama administration taking over the white house very soon, colin powell with be involved, in peace and diplomacy.”

“Powell did not lie FOR Bush. He was lied to BY Bush... or more precisely by Cheney and Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz. The Neo-Con "intellectuals" marginalized him; they left him out of the loop; and then they used him, exploiting his good name. And he resigned with honor just as he will endorse with honor.
And by vilifying him, you carry the water for the Neo-Cons. You are their errand boy.”

“I tend to agree with you, however, millions of voters DO value Colin Powell's opinion and we need all the people we can get to vote for Obama/Biden.”
RasAlula replied on Oct 15, 2008 at 10:35:46
“Actually, it has been pretty well documented that he was kept out of the loop with all the lies behind the push to war. Cheney and his men did everything they could to go around Powell and others for that matter. Powell standing up today and saying Obama is ready to command a war is a benefit. Maybe not the "nail in the coffin" but still a good thing.”
Rumba replied on Oct 15, 2008 at 10:35:39
“As I see it Powell has been suffering from misplaced loyalty to Bush rather than the people. When he resigned he should have denounced the Bush policies and the lies justifying it. His loyalty should have been to the Nation not to Bush. Hopefully if he endorses Obama he will correct it.”

“I'm not sure that's entirely fair. After all, Powell was hood winked, bamboozzled - okey doked with bad information too. I still respect the guy a lot & would like to see him put back to work within an Obama admistration. :)”

“You are incorrect. Rumsfeld was Secy of Defense. Powell was Secy of State. Powell did not lead troops into Iraq. As I understand it, he waffled on Iraq, but supported diplomacy first. This conflict ultimately led to him stepping down....”
