“i hope they find a successful argument, but i don't think the wall street line will work after the rather weak kneed response to the bankers shenanigans.”

“Agreed, I can't wait to see all the republican ads showing Obama paying off the big Wall Street banks, showing Obama giving Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae a blank check, showing Obama giving the Auto Unions billions more just the other day. Showing Obama palling around with the pharma and insurance companies.
Yup, I can't wait to pop the popcorn, sit back, and watch the dems try to beat that. They can deny it. The dems are in bed with Wall Street and big business as the repubs are, only difference, the repubs don't lie about it.”

Abdulmutallab's Web Posts Suggest He Was Lonely, Depressed

“i mentioned what you raise about the father reporting him and lauded him for this, but i am speaking to what appears to be a feeling of loneliness and almost abandonment that the writing suggests, and which i dont know if the family picked up on or ere to busy to notice till it got too bad. i attended a high school that had a boarding house as a day student back in the 70s and i remember some of the borders, especially the 11, 12 year olds having a really hard time and feeling abandoned by thier families etc. some could hardly stop crying for days when they first get in. in a few cases parents got enough feedback to prompt them to remove a student from the boarding house, and there was usually improvement, almost instantly in the students overall well being and performance. my point is i wonder if this boy would noy have fared better under direct parental supervision, since the family seem decent enough.”

“this boy did not have to be lost to terrorism. while his father did the right thing in reporting him (unfortunately without an appropriate response) his family as a whole appear to have let him slip through the cracks and failed him in this manner. if these are indeed sizzlypants writings, how does a parent not pick up on any of this if they are paying enough attention?. the impression i get is that money was being used as a substitute for parenting. i may b wrong but i would bet on this being at least partly correct.”

“the father did report him, but not the date and flight number to be bombed. most likely because he had no idea, and without that kind of information how do you seperate it from the hundreds of others like it every day? how many people do you think it would take to follow up on every one of those?”
