Arianna Discusses Wall Street's Failure to Learn From Its Mistakes on Morning Meeting (VIDEO)
Commented Sep 14, 2009 at 12:37:55 in Business
“The people in the house and the senate need to understand that the majority of their constituents are regular non-lobbiest people. They need to remember who they represent and act in the interest of the people. Do they have the greatness to rise above the aspects of money, the money (aka.legal ized bribes) that the lobbiest shove their way? There are some of the decent people, but not enough of them in government.”

“So, after my initial very angry response to "simple-minded" comment (not sure it will get posted), I would like to add my thanks to Bernie Sanders for standing up for what's right and not what will make him popular with the people with the big fat check books.
Senator Sanders and Howard Dean....ke ep going.”

The Health Care Crisis: Letters from Vermont and America

“Ok, you either work for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and have been put up to this ( I heard Erin Burnett spew the same thing a few mornings ago and I believe she attributed the numbers to a BCBS statistic) or you're just too simple-minded to understand the complexity of the issues underlying the 48-50 million number.
But just for the "fun" of it, let's take the 8-10million number. Those are people who could afford insurance, but get rejected. Is that morally the right thing to do in a country that constantly spews superior morals to the world at large? A little hypocritical I would say. This is supposedly the richest country in the world and any uninsured person (1, 2, 3 or 10 million) is appauling. If other countries can do it how come this country can't? I think the answer is: pure greed.
Ever lived in one of the other countries where all people are covered? IT WORKS!!!! The fear mongering has got to STOP!!!!”

“Watched the Ed show for the first time yesterday and loved it. Ed voices the outrage that so many of us want to, but can't because we don't have the same forum.
They, Sam, Laura etc. made up a really good panel last night.”

“Maybe I'm a little or a lot naive, ... but doesn't the government use a document version/edit control system. When these bills are drafted, isn't there a way for edits to be tracked? Or is there too much secret stuff going on while such things are drafted? Do these people really still do things the old fashioned way with actual paper and shredders?”

Why I'm Not Now and Have Never Been the Democrats' "Rush Limbaugh"
Commented Mar 06, 2009 at 12:10:43 in Politics
“Michael Moore and Rush Limbaugh are so not in the same league. Michael Moore, while I don't always agree with his overt tactics, I believe really cares about everyone and especially the poor. I envy Mr. Moore for his guts and courage to speak out for those who need a voice.
Rush Limbaugh is the complete opposite. His love for the rich and the disdain for the poor is so overt, it's pathetic, extremely sadding and disheartening. I can only pity they guy.”

The Banks Have Stolen Enough; It's Time to Take Them Over
Commented Jan 26, 2009 at 17:20:08 in Business
“Let us not be intimidated by the bankers when they say we are all shareholders, because we have 401K plans that hold some of those shares. At this point, who cares? The shares are already worth nothing. So why throw good money after bad money only to end up with no money at all.
I am a liberal, but I have my limits when there's a handout that feels more like a free for all. I am for universal healthcare, but that does not mean I am for fiscal irresponsibility. We and the government complain about the banks giving loans to people without proper proof of income/assets and demand regulations. Yet the government seems to be applying the same sloppy standards. We need serious accountability and regulation before another dime is spent on these banks (and others), which right now look like huge bottomless pits. A hold should be put on the 2nd tranche of TARP funds until the banks and other big-beggers can prove, and we can track, that executive pay does not exceed government salaries. How about absolutely no bonuses for a change and make those who got bonuses while getting bailout funds return them. Remember what bonuses are supposed to represent - did any of those companies make a profit? I do not think in this environment there is anyway those bonuses are justified.”

“Seems like it is time for a petition to stop any further bailouts with our tax dollars for companies who think they can bend the rules. No bonuses, means no bonuses in any way, shape or form!! It does not matter how you twist the lingo. What do theese big companies not get? Do they really think these people are so valuable? No way, they are not. They are just as easily replaceable as the rest of us.”

BTW, who says the those voters weren't going to a church service later in the day or hadn't already been earlier in the day. The intolerance is just amazing!!”
