But, a life-to-life comparison removes this discussion from its context. When placed in context, there is an entirely different meaning behind a threat on the life of the President of the United States, and a threat on the life of a talk show host. Bringing the discussion even further into context, President Obama has received more death threats than any other president, and he hasn't even been in office a full year.

Second, Speaker Pelosi did not paint critics of the Obama Administration with a broad brush of violent incitement. She was speaking to the peculiar tension in our national climate, as evidenced by an increase in gun sales, Joe Wilson's "empassioned" outburst, and the scenes broadcast from numerous town hall meetings. To speaker Pelosi, it is reminiscent of the atmosphere that existed in San Francisco prior to the assasinations.”
