“In the US, WM employs 1.4 million people. Yearly profits exceed $15 billion. If a Thanksgiving meal cost $100, and WM bought 1 meal for each employee, that would total $140 million. That would equal LESS THAN 1% of WM's yearly profit, to buy a pretty good Thanksgiving meal for each associate's family. But they won't do that. And some people defend that. Less than one percent of profits to help out their workers, but no. That's why I don't shop there, and never will again. Taxpayers subsidize their employees so that their executives can get richer. Doesn't sound very much like capitalism to me. It sounds more like takers being greedy.”
“It is way past time that we, as in "we the people", stop voting people into office who fundamentally believe that government does not, and cannot, work. Would you want a medical doctor who doesn't believe in medicine? Would you fly on an airplane whose designer doesn't believe in physics? Then why on earth would you want a politician who believes that government doesn't work, and their alternative is not to fix government so it does work, but to shut it down all together?? How well is that working out for the tp'ers in somalia? We MUST stop voting for people who not only don't believe in the job they are applying for, but also don't know what the federal government does!! (i.e. Rep. "park service should be ashamed of itself for doing what we voted for them to do").
If any good came out of the shutdown, it is that hopefully many more people will now understand that when the GOP says things like "government doesn't do anything", or that "government has never created a single job", that those gop'ers are doing what they do best - lying.
Final note: aca website seems to be doing just fine here in Tx.”

“The government is too large, no one thinks we shouldn't have any government.”
“81-18. That tells me that MANY more things would be done in a bipartisan manner if it weren't for the outsized influence of teabaggistan. It is past time that we, as a nation, repudiate the entirety of them and their supporters. If the koch's love them so much, maybe they can finance an intergalactic mayflower to move them all on to some other planet.”
“You know, I read the thing earlier about can earth repel an alien invasion....something tells me we won't have to worry about that for QUITE a long time...like until we evolve a couple more species ahead of ourselves. If there are aliens supposedly among us now, it's strictly for entertainment, much like we visit zoos.”

Or maybe like Dian Fossey, living with the gorillas.”
“The reason is simple: cops don't patrol white areas nearly as much as they do minority areas. Another result of whiteprivilege, of which many whitepeople are completely unaware.”

“cops don't patrol white areas nearly as much as they do minority areas
Or they don't patrol high income areas as much as they do low income areas. I'd guess they go where the over all crime rate is higher.”
“I have lived in poor neighborhoods and now live in an upper middle class neighborhood. Far more people are involved in illegal stuff in my current neighborhood than in the poorer places I have lived. There is at least one couple on the street that use mj (and other stuff), and they get it from some friends, who are cops. All these folks are white, mind you, I am black.
Here's where the difference lies: I have seen a cop car patrolling my current neighborhood, maybe twice, three times, in the four years I have been here. In the poor places, it was daily, multiple times a day. It's very simple: crime is everywhere, so where you look for it, you will find it, lots of it. Police tend to look for crime in minority (poor) neighborhoods, and so they find lots of it and lock those people up. They don't look for crime as much in more predominantly upper class (tending to be white) neighborhoods, so that crime happens, more than in poorer places, and those people don't get caught because noone is looking for crime there.
Moral? Minority people, if you want to commit crime and get away with it, move to the suburbs if you can.”

“Keep in mind there are 6 whites to 1 black in America. yet the jails are loaded with blacks versus whites. Are you saying those blacks in jail did not commit a crime? That there are so many whites that should be in jail? If you do not commit crime why else are you living in a white neighborhood. Less violence would be the answer.”

“Okay give what you say is true.. Who commits more crime--stealing and killing in regards to using, buying and selling cocaine etc. If the truth be know these substances should be not be illegal/declared legal to use and crime relating to them such as stealing punishable harder for it. This just as alcohol as one knows in advance one loses ones faculties when using them. Only the criminal the would be held accountable. Using drugs is no crime--not against another. Stealing for them is.”

“I know of at least two people who have children in prison. One is for 5 years for a felony and the other not sure exactly why but for life. They both happen to be black. I know of no whites who have children in jail. Plus it is known the jails are filled with blacks versus whites. Are you saying they did not commit crimes? And along witgh that consider that there are so many more whites than blacks in the population. As of 2009 there is about 1 black person for every 6 white people in the United states, so a ratio of 1:6 out of 303.8 million people total. I And although there is crime everywhere there is much less in white neighborhoods. Just why are you living there and encouraging others to move there other than less patrolling. They patrol less because there is not the need to do so.”
