“Yeah, go get it if you care about his music in a large way. Buddy Holly is one of those artists whose music, especially the rare stuff, is always interesting. On the other hand, a simple best of is fine for those who kinda like him enough to throw on in the car or wherever. That fits most people, huh. ;)”

“Nice, TM10030. What's amazing about Ron's answers is that he never holds back, and that end section about telling a liar he or she is a liar as it's happening seems to be what's missing in politics these days. So much disinformation is out there, and those that know better should be braver about championing the truth, right?”

“Paw1, I think you're right, but concert costs, in general, are kind of ridiculous. The problem is the cost of putting on "event" concerts, the staging costs of those being obnoxious and then passed on to the fans. Sometimes it seems that even the acts themselves are a bit oblivious to those expenses, leaving such concepts with their business managers, etc. Over the years, Bon Jovi hasn't really struck me as a band that pillages its fans for the dough, I think Jon really does believe what he's singing about and saying.”

“Hey, I'm with ya there too. But if you're referring to the "new albums" section, I just do that as a courtesy to let people know what's out (new and reissues), I'm only endorsing the stuff I review, and even some of those are with exceptions that I usually bring up. And the greatest hits I recommended are some of the more interesting ones.”

“You do have a point Paw1, absolutely, ticket prices across the board seem to still be ridiculous. Less expensive spectacle and more music, right?”
Paw1 replied on Nov 10, 2009 at 18:28:55
“Agree. Promoters and artists must change their short term thinking and realize that the concert business cannot be sustained over time when the average Live Nation customer sees less than 2 shows a year. They save it for the one or two acts they believe are worth the ridiculous prices. Unfortunately, those acts (Prince, Springsteen, Bon Jovi, U2, Madonna, Stones, etc.) will neither live or tour forever and there are no up and coming acts in the bullpen that customers will pay the same rates to see.
Live Nation is trying, with its No Fee Wednesdays and reduced prices for tours that are selling poorly. This is way too little, too late. Concert going must become habitual in order to survive. Cut prices before tours tank, get people out to the arenas and they may have a shot. Nothing in the world better than seeing a great live band at the top of its game.”

“Nice, LLNYRN! Yeah, that Radio City concert is a bit legendary, ain't it?”
LLNYRN replied on Nov 06, 2009 at 18:48:45
“HELL to the YEAH!!! That rRadio City show was legendary!
What made it more so for me...
*Steel Pulse was the opening act. Went on to see them many times in the 80s.
*I sat behind the sound engineer's booth up in second mezzanine. Made me appreciate how integral great sound is to concert-going.
*Nona Hendryx, Bernie Worrell, Adrian Belew, Buster Jones, Dollette McDonald, and Steve Scales. These were A-game NY musicians with extensive music credits of course. For Talking Heads to use these musicians in the studio and then live was one of Rock's great music "experiments". Totally bridged the gap between Punk, Funk, Soul, R&B, New Wave, Minimalism, and World music.
Yep. That Radio City gig was legendary.”

“Thanks Alec977, loved those guys.
I think the thing with Robert is that he's better than most in his pack, check out those lyrics. This guy isn't coming from any angle I personally have heard this year from anyone branded "singer-songwriter" which is totally refreshing to me. He borrows from here and there, but thankfully, nothing from Disney or American Idol, usually the first places from which producers are cookie-cutting their acts these days.
I think he's special, maybe give his material another listen?”

“no, i totally hear you man. It's more a matter of trying to understand why just because a new artist is NOT Disney, they get labeled at SUPER deep. A few brushes with drugs and a young age and suddenly the guy's an "old soul." That's everyone I went to college with.
I'd heard his stuff and it;s not bad - don't want to trash the kid, but is better than most of the pack what we're aiming for? & produced?? First album was much much better . That's why the desert crack........”
