“All but a few of you are missing the point. If you watch the film clip, you'll see far more skimpy outfits on other women, and no one seems to be focusing on their attire. Could it be because she looked different? Her tone was not that good, so why else the outcry?”

“SorryI took so long to get back to you, but I havn't visited this site for awhile. Nikki Sixx(great name, by the way), I wasn't calling you pathetic, just the philosophical beliefs of those you apparently hang with. It's just that I do, in fact, depend upon the government, Federal and State, to meet many of my needs, from law enforcement agencies to fire departments, to school systems, not to mention the VA system, which, as a veteran, I enjoy. Your crowd is a conspiracy-based group("they're coming to take our guns"; "they're encroaching on our freedoms", etc.)which is why I said it. And, Nikki, I'm absolutely not smart enough to understand your belief system...but neither are you, apparently.”

“Look, I'm a "Liberal"(whatever you think that means, aside from Faux News' definition), and I, like many, am a veteran of the Korean conflict. I know guns, as many of us do, and feel that what's really pathetic is your hysteria and conspiracy-based belief system. We depend on our community and state law enforcement systems - not the Federal Government. The fact that you people keep playing that sad tune is, indeed, pathetic.”

Nikki Sixx on Feb 22, 2013 at 12:45:25

“Nah, they've been around in Topeka for so many years, it'll be impossible to root them out. We try to ignore them, hard as it is, but that doesn't work either. The trouble seems to be that they have no "observing ego", in that they don't really hear themselves, or see how foolish they really appear. What is most concerning is the developmental process of their children. The elder Phelps should have been prosecuted for spousal and child abuse many years ago, but his troublemaking skill as an attorney spooked the city fathers. Now there's an entire tribe of pretty good attorneys arrayed against any attack, justified or not, and Topeka and the state just folded.”

Richard Wayne Landers, Missing Boy Found As Adult, Says Grandparents 'Were In The Right'

Commented Jan 13, 2013 at 15:02:59 in Crime

“Good question! We've had a confusing history with grandparental rights in Kansas, but at least most have gone through the courts. I have this idealistic view, probably fostered by my profession(Clinical Social Worker)that if the grandparents were truly caring, they would have bent every effort to support the parents of the boy to get on their feet and take on this responsibility. It sounds, instead, that they hovered high above the scene, and swooped in to "fix" it. Taking the child away and disappearing, changing names, etc., seems a drastic and consequently unlawful action . One of the earlier posters hinted at a vast "underground" evangelical system that exists for this purpose. I don't know anything about that, but it seems otherwise strange that the grandparents could so easily disappear and blend in so well. I don't know if they had the grandson's best interest in mind, but by their actions they excluded many who might have been emotionally helpful. Believe me, folks, this young man is not truly well-adjusted.”

'I Am Adam Lanza's Mother': A Mom's Perspective On The Mental Illness Conversation In America

Commented Dec 16, 2012 at 16:30:55 in Parents

“I'm glad for you that you have not experienced the aching dread and consumate fear that many parents share, who have a potentially violent mentally ill child or family member. However, after 40 years experience with patients and their families in two mental health facilities, and in private practice, I see your story as the exception. While I applaud your efforts at limit setting, and its consequent success, please believe that your values and good intentions are shared by most parents of these children, but who are not as successful. This has nothing to do with your "doing it better", but with the unbelievable complexity of mental illness, and its impact on each individual. There is no "one way" or "right way" to handle this baffling problem within the family and community. It falls instead on society's efforts to understand and utilize the research and treatment findings of those to whom we entrust our loved ones, for the benefit of all. Our society has abandoned the mentally ill, for all practical purposes, for reasons difficult to understand or accept. We can only hope that America can return from wherever it's been to begin anew to address this heartbreaking problem.”

“I lived it... myself the last 20 years.  I have studied it in an attempt to help myself and others.  Obviously I have been misunderstood by many people.  But, that is part of my illness... not always communicating with brevity and succinctly.  I agree actually with what you have said.  I don't feel there is a right or wrong way, but I feel that boundary setting from an early age does help.  I was sick... very... but my parents with the little knowledge they had forced me to work (I lost many jobs)... I went to college.. my first semester a 3.5 then the second a 0.0.  I have struggled my whole life.... and I actually care a lot about these issues.  It is the equating mental illness to violence that I have a problem with.  Even with these types of children... if they go to a residential facility... they are taught boundaries, responsibilities... they may have to have meds... they are taught social skills and emotional regulation techniques.  I was not blaming the parent... i don't blame mine.  But i am glad my parents never gave me the option to just lie down and not fight.  Thanks for your post.”

Besides, the young man in question had released a bomb or two, engaged in a running gun battle with the police - after allegedly assisting in the murder of one guard, and the shooting of another. He probably doesn't really qualify for your bleeding heart sentiments, does he?”
