Middle-Class Faces Homelessness After Job Loss
Commented Sep 30, 2009 at 08:35:26 in Business
“Just and observation. I know for a fact that there are enough churches in my own community with enough real estate to house every homeless person and family that needs shelter. We have one church that is so large, and takes up so much real estate, that some call it Fort God or Six Flags Over Jesus.
Why is it that every Christian church is not filled to the brim and caring for those that need care?”

“good question...But haven't you noticed that the mega churches leaders are more interested in building elaborate mutli-million dollar structures and lining their pcokets with the money from the poor parishoners..
A few years back a tropical storm hit Houston. It shut the city down with 30 foot of water in some places. Joel Osteen, the pastor of the biggest mega church, who bought the old home of the Houston Rockets, kicked the flood victims out of his church after one day. He refused to explain to the media why he wouldn't allow them to stay....
Jesus kicked the money changers out of the temple..The mordern day "christian" preachers keep the money changers and kick the poor homeless out of the church .”

“Well, if they actually had to live by their own "good book's" precepts, how would they afford those big mega-churches? How would the Catholic church be able to continue to have their own sovereign state, with all their gold-gilded churches and icons? How could those preachers afford their $1,500 suits that they wear on all that TV time they can afford to buy?”

“Especially seeing how they don't have to pay taxes. But this does not surprise me, modern day Christians tend to be the biggest hypocrites, well aside from republicans.”

Edwards Promised Mistress Rooftop Wedding With Dave Matthews Band
Commented Sep 21, 2009 at 06:57:01 in Politics
“His wife made huge personal sacrifices for Edwards, which on examination, should be telling itself. Reality is, Edwards doesn't love his wife. You can't make him love her by simply rehashing wedding vows. He was seduced plain and simple, and thought he could keep it secret - have his cake and eat it too. Had he been in the same position as his wife health wise, I am sure his wife would not have done the same to him, but would have been unerringly by his side. It is very very sad, but all too common. Edwards is human and far from extraordinary. I hope he learns about himself enough to be able to transcend his shallow needs, but he probably won't. Much later when the circle of life bottoms out for him, he will remember and regret.”

“Great commentary by KO. We as a nation for 8 years while Bush was in office died a little for every lie and accusation the Republican party made, that was not called out, and that our brave service men died for. The base has not changed. It was stupid then, and it is stupid now. The problem is, the paradigm has shifted, and the mis-information is being seen for exactly what it is. The people swayed by the mis-information mongers are the same then as they are now and will always be - an angry mindless mob with pitchforks and tiki torches motivated by something called fear.”

“This is painful to watch and embarrassing. Remember that people around the world see these kinds of protests and that is the impression they have of what amerkins are like. Given this lack of education however, would they be doing as well as they seem to be doing here, in other countries? My other comment is that the protesters do not look to be the picture of health. And the anger can't be helping much either. Of course I am sure they all have insurance and gobs of money should they be turned down for any of the bypasses that they seem to be heading towards.”

“Birthers and Deathpanelists? Yes yes we know that lies and disinformation seemed to have worked for awhile, and it almost destroyed our country, which was the objective, but thank God it didn't. This election proves that Americans were fed up with the lie fest. Come on Repugs.. reach down into the bowels of your past and find some intelligent opposition will ya? If not, then continue to implode. Losing the election is not the worst thing you know. However sounds like the party wants to go down in infamy. You who oppose health care reform - this is not some war over there you don't have to fight or care about because it is someone else's child. This is your family! Your children! When your insurance company turns you down or you lose insurance because you've lost your job, or you lose your life savings trying to pay for medical bills, remember that to you that doesn't matter because your own hatred and misinformation has a higher priority. Geez way to have one's priorities straight!”

Hillary is not a fashion model to be judged by her looks. Anyone who insists on this drivel is opening their mothers and grandmothers up to the same judgement. You really want that? Hillary actually has a brain.”

“Sporks. Hilarious! Well no-one likes to be made wrong, even if they are wrong. Think of that woman in the clip. Wonder if she is married. If she is, think of her poor husband and or family. Do you think that for one minute from now until the time she expires that she will ever let this go? Can you imagine her ranting about this, like it is the most important thing in the whole wide world? During every family outing, television show, and date night?”

There are perfectly normal people with guns who legally collect them like you, and do not commit crimes. There are those who legally collect them and even have permits, who use them illegally, and then there are those who have guns illegally. There is such a thing as people snapping who previously were fine - and then they also happen to have an arsenal at home. Never a comforting thought.”

“VictoriaP - I agree. When there is a domestic or harassment or stalker problem, victims are counseled not to get the police involved because A) They won't do anything. B) Will only make the criminal more pissed off and more willing to cause harm. I've seen arguments here that the victims need to arm themselves, but I'll tell ya.. they are usually not suffering from the same twisted mindset and so are not as willing to kill, even protecting themselves. Most often, they probably don't even know they are in danger. It is not fair that victims have to live like hunted animals, watching around every corner. Since Law enforcement is not the answer, then it's going to have to be community action that educates - mostly women, on how to protect themselves from those who were supposed to love them.”

“Another innocent women's life taken away. A stalker, harassment - perhaps not taken seriously enough. Even if she had pressed charges would it have made her safe? She might have been afraid to set him off, because it's not like he would have been put away. I have known more then one woman who was being harassed but was afraid to do anything because the dude had guns or was a gun nut, or just a nut. And usually you are counseled that law enforcement won't do anything, and you will be in more danger from pissing the rat-B* off. I have read the comments about disarming men and arming women.I agree. Hey Gun nuts, NRA-bots, how about having the nuts to figure out how to protect innocent women from these mindless crimes. How about law enforcement taking domestic violence seriously and taking stalking harassment claims seriously. How about making restraining orders actually work?”

“Having experienced this myself many times in my life, I am happy that the sciences are catching up with the concept. However I disagree with the premise that love is the connector. It is one of them. For me, I have no idea what the connector was or is, because the people involved are not always people I know or care about - so what's the deal with that? Perhaps simply strong emotion is the other for those who naturally have a more conscious connection to this collective. Love is definitely a door but I don't think it is always a prerequisite. Kudos to those who look beyond the improbability to the mechanics. Yes, lets agree that it happens. Now, let's figure it out.”
