Palin Hit With Another Ethics Complaint
Commented Jul 07, 2009 at 07:21:12 in Politics
“Well of course! I mean as a conservative woman I support this woman's ability to wink wink her way into positions of power, but only because while she is doing it she is spouting conservative values.
So please don't pick on her! I want to make sure that if I invest in plastic surgery for my daughters and enter them into beauty contests, that they too may one day gain power without qualifications. It's so much cheaper then spending on those university degrees!”

“Having experienced this myself many times in my life, I am happy that the sciences are catching up with the concept. However I disagree with the premise that love is the connector. It is one of them. For me, I have no idea what the connector was or is, because the people involved are not always people I know or care about - so what's the deal with that? Perhaps simply strong emotion is the other for those who naturally have a more conscious connection to this collective. Love is definitely a door but I don't think it is always a prerequisite. Kudos to those who look beyond the improbability to the mechanics. Yes, lets agree that it happens. Now, let's figure it out.”

“I totally agree with that. Love is just one conduit. And even at that - there seems to be a 'right-place/time' element involved on any number of different levels.”
Why on Earth Are Democrats Legitimizing and Empowering Rush Limbaugh?
Commented Mar 04, 2009 at 08:23:59 in Politics
“Ah geez.. Look while all the Republicans look on with horror, and some with happiness that Rush is in the news and being elevated as their leader, Obama is rolling back the more disastrous Bush policies as quickly as he can. LOL. Rush offers the loud distraction needed while real work gets done. Sort of like giving a shot of whiskey to the patient while required surgery begins, or a lollipop to a kid at the doctor's office.”

“I am in total agreement with this article and have said as much myself many times. Come on people! What would you do if you were given 9 million dollars and you got to keep it, no matter what you did.
Frankly I am surprised these execs didn't just flop on the floor and go into seizures so they could like disappear with their bonuses and no longer have to do any work at all. If they knew they sucked, at least they would have ensured they were doing no further harm. But NOooooooo. A humble man, an honest man, a man with a conscience does not rise to the top of the garbage heap. And we know this .. don't we! Look around you, and you will find the honest, humble, hardworking, idealistic fools are not in these same positions. I think it boils down to money having less value unless you get to flaunt it like you deserve it. And there is probably more there as well that a sane individual simply cannot understand, because our minds don't work the same way. You are viewing different animals altogether - not exactly human, not exactly non-human. We can be flabbergasted all we want at the lack of simple human values. ROFL. In reality we created and rewarded these money consuming sociopath monster machines, and now we are shocked?”

Antitrust Suits Kill Enterprises

“Excellent article. The leader is really only as good as the caliber of people he or she leads, and it is the people that are the greatest asset, as they are the ones that turn the dreams into reality. I think it is time to stop being disappointed in leaders who are anything but. We need to understand the power of our own worth and each individual's ability to lead within their own circle of influence. In other words, quit waiting for the Antitrust suits to change or get better because they are not.”
Our Other National Shamelessness: Needless Job Layoffs
Commented Feb 03, 2009 at 08:42:42 in Business
“If you read my post a bit later I point to the fact of how short sighted this is. For short term profit or cost cutting companies may get the boomers off of the balance sheet - but in the end, the balance sheet is going to tip again, because as I stated, it is talent + experience that makes a company have the ability to produce superior products and beat the competition and I am not talking about CEOs when I talk about talent, I am speaking for the real intelligence within a company which is the foundation management must build in order to even exist.
I am amazed at how much money companies will throw at consulting firms hired to ensure that their internal processes produce better products, when it all comes down to the caliber and experience of the people employed. The consulting firms know this formula well because that is the first thing they do is find these people, then they use their insider knowledge and get paid millions for it marketing their ideas back to upper management.
Companies are collapsing for a good reason. Their business practices were flawed in a good economy and they cannot survive a bad one.”

Our Other National Shamelessness: Needless Job Layoffs

“Thanks! Signed the Petition. Needless layoffs do more then just destroy people's lives. They also destroy the company. It's quite simple really. To be truly proficient as an employee for a business, it takes time, many times years to learn the business rules of the company. You cannot plug and play most jobs. I realize there is a prevailing theory that in order to stay flexible and put resources where needed, that jobs NEED to be plug and play. Great theory - but heh.. I think there is a quote about science having beautiful theories destroyed by ugly facts. For every lets say 10 employees, you may have one of those super employees who is indeed talented, and pretty much keeps things running smoothly. So you lay off. Now you are back to square one. Talent + Experience in YOUR business is what keeps the business going and is what especially ensures superior customer service as well as superior ability to move with the punches. We as consumers should be aware of this as one of the criteria used in buying products. Past the sales hype - has the company laid off their talent recently? You can pretty much then expect sucky service and sub-par products. It does NOT create a competitive advantage. Now if you collapse layers of needless bureaucracy, really get rid of bad management, and empower your talent, then you are well positioned! Needless layoffs points to needless hiring and a bad business model.”

“You are absolutely correct. We ARE at a nexus point! It is our collective lives at stake here. However we worry about what "They" ( the corporations) are going to do to fix "Us" (The American people).
This logic is dead wrong. Our biggest asset is our collective selves. You have literally armies of intelligent people who are slaving in Corporations wasting their ideas and lives on the parts of the corporate machinery. We gain our entire identities by the titles grudgingly handed out by these masters, and then hanging our heads in shame when we are laid off or fired - thinking that the shackles were our only claim and right to live in this world, and that without them we are nothing.
At some point we have to stop and ask ourselves and be honest about it. While we rail about the greedy corporations, we must see that our own minds, bodies and souls have been educated, trained and shackled to the very thing that prevents our own freedom.”

When You Can't Find Wealth in Your Bank Account; Find Wealth In Your Heart
Commented Jan 19, 2009 at 08:19:05 in Living
“Little things become more wonderful when all the big things go away. I have always lived well below my means, and continue to do so, but I am a wealthy person when it comes to ideas, dreams. Basically I call it a fall back. I have fall backs that are not in a bank account. My wonderful husband to be, the wonderful moment of now that is always there for me to explore, the love and hope and dreams of my daughter, and my three wonderful grandchildren. I have been literally without anything going for me in my younger years, and the times I remember the most are those times when it seemed through a miracle, the sunshine entered in and seemed to shine just for me on any particular day, drying my tears and making me feel hope. It is the difference between fighting the world with your mind versus feeling the world with your heart. Fighting with your mind doesn't work. If you touch type - try thinking about where the keys are on the keyboard, and suddenly you mess up! Yet focus on what you want to type, without thinking about your fingers, and like magic, they seem to already know where to do. I know rather lame analogy, but it seems apt.”

Questions for Those Who Think I'm Going to Hell
Commented Jan 18, 2009 at 11:18:01 in Politics
“Two things regarding Hell. 1. First if I go to heaven, and have to sit for eternity with all of the people who were hypocrites regarding their faith - a.k.a., feel that war and the killing of innocents is justified, feel that the earth needs no stewardship and all animals are simply there for exploitation, are bigots, so their world has no room for people they consider to be less then people - then I would rather go to Hell. I am also sure all the innocent victims of the crimes against humanity perpetrated by those who did the crimes in the name of their religion would also prefer hell if they had to sit in eternity with their murderers.
2. If I go to hell for crimes that I am fully responsible for - Good! Want to go. Want to be held responsible! And if those who I mentioned above also end up there, that will give me satisfaction for eternity. I will be happy that things are just and right. That would be the only knowledge I would need to be happy.”

Get the Most Out of Your Doctor's Appointment

“This entire article is pretty much common sense and common courtesy. However it does not go strongly enough into being your own advocate or having a patient advocate in todays world of screwed up health care.
My biggest asset is being informed as much as possble prior to going to a Doctor. I've got to go to the Doc today for somthing not life threatening at this point. However I have called a nurse, done symptom research, reviewed my Dr. options as to whom would be the best for this type of thing, etc. All saves time and money, and should assist me in getting the most bang for my buck as far as time and money go
I also tell the docs, hey - I'm freaked out by this! I treat them like human beings needing as much information as possible to assist them in diagnosis, and I expect the same respect back. I am a developer which is a far cry from the medical profession, but there are good ones who do the diligence in finding and correcting problems, or with enough experience to really know the situation and there are the lazy ones that I wouldn't trust to debug a paper bag. Same goes for doctors.”

“Thank you for the wonderful song that I grew up with as a child, although I always hated the sad ending and hoped for something better for Puff, perhaps finding a female Puff would have been nice?
I live in a red state where racism is very much displayed - I am white and so I hear it all the time. It's not hidden from you when you are considered a part of the group. It's almost a cultural thing really, and considered okay from church going salt of the earth types who perhaps reckon back to an earlier time. This doesn't make it okay by any means but it is so ingrained in some that to change their thinking is impossible. To them it is not something to be shameful of, but more like a badge of honor. They only have each other though to offer acknowledgment. The majority in this country have moved past the civil war era thank you very much.
These relics had their disastrous day in the sun with the Bush admin. Most will not live to feel the judgment passed upon them by their national peers when everything is shone in the light of day. Thankfully their day has passed.”

The Republicans Want A Depression

“It is treason plain and simple, and has been for quite a long time! However, we were complacent about the war "over there" being fought with other people's children with other people's tax dollars right? For many people the robbery didn't come for them in their minds so they didn't care. Now it has hit home and has hit YOUR job. Now YOU have skin in the game, it isn't some other guy who is getting hurt. YOUR kids, YOUR family are getting hurt and bad. Hey, soon to be out of work middle class Republicans, this is a wake up call that you can't serve your ideology for dinner!
America wake up. The Republicans have been on a campaign to destroy this country by destroying the middle class, and frankly we are pretty much at a score of 0 in fighting it. Many of the low information voters out there are not well off and are on the brink really, soon to find out what it is like trying to find depression-era work. Just how many Joe the plumbers can there be with book deals? That dog doesn't hunt but once.”

“You are a very wise raven, indeed, ravencalling! You've got your priorities straight. By all means, build and deepen the intimacy and teamwork with your partner, first. It will serve you well.
When you are with the family, why not acknowledge the understandable nervousness on all parties in first meetings? It can go a long way to relief anxiety and get on the same page. Stay light-hearted. Consider renting a comedy or two. Keep the endorphins rolling, because it will anchor a foundation that visits are something enjoyable.
Don't forget to have a time where each of you, as a family, can share about your favorite aspect of the day, and what made it special. You will be building great recipes for relatedness.
I would encourage you to consider a time for just the two of you immediately following the family piece.
Think of it as a football locker room debrief after the big game. Identify the well-dones, specifically. Then, consider what you want to create together, and as a family next go-round.
I'm in your corner rooting for you each. Let me know how it goes!
Blessings your way,
