Pyrrhic Victoria: Why Men Are Becoming More Like Women

Pyrrhic Victoria: Why Men Are Becoming More Like Women

Commented Nov 17, 2009 at 11:31:34 in Living

“Oh boy!! Do as she pleased??? Evidently you've never stayed home, did laundry, changed diapers, went shopping with the kids in tow, cooked and cleaned up 3 meals a day, picked up everything to have it all pulled back out in half an hour and back all over the house, run vac every day, cleaned up vomit and spilled food while at the same time pulling apart 2 fighting siblings. The idea that the older generation of men think that stay at home mom's days were "leisure" is the precise point we women have been making for the past 40 years. I was a stay at home mom and let me tell you, it's the HARDEST MOST THANKLESS JOB ON THE PLANET because men thought that all we did was sit on the couch and eat bon bons. I have now worked full time for close to 15 years and believe me, it's MUCH EASIER to get up every day and go to work and be rewarded for your hard work by people that show appreciation for it by way of paychecks and bennies and not eye rolling and back talking.”

“I agree wholeheartedly with this article. I divorced in '01, remarried in '05 and he loved to cook and help with the dishes and houswork, shopping and believe me when I say he was all man. Unfortunately he died in '06. Since then I have met several men and most of them do housework, cook and don't act like some macho "that's women's work so I won't do it" dude. I haven't really thought about it until this series of articles but yes, men have changed. I wouldn't call it more feminin at all, just more open to the realities of women having to work too and seeing that she can't do it all herself. It's called love, respect and the many years of these changes to take effect.”

Is This as Good as It Gets From Obama?

Commented Nov 03, 2009 at 11:25:04 in Politics

“Obama's not hiding anything!!! He promised NO LOBBYISTS in his admin. HALF of his admin and advisors were/are lobbyists. He promised to pull out of Iraq. Not only are we still in Iraq, we are bombing Pakistan, building up in Afganistan, waging war (on the same lies as the Bushies) on Iran, pi$$ing off Russia, letting China get ahead by them actually BARGAINING for their resources instead of blowing away the residents who happen to live on those resources.....ect, ect. It's just more of the same ol, same ol. We need new parties in DC. These 2 are just 2 sides of the same coin. We needed change, DRASTIC change and all we got was Bush lite. I'm sick and tired of the whole circus we call DC.”

I'm very broken hearted over his first year and I agree wholeheartedly with AH. Thanks Arianna for speaking out and not just parrotting party rhetoric.”

“I think that most of us are unhappy because we feel the ball and chain of financial debt dragging at us 24/7. I have always lived within my means. I don't own a credit card, I bought a very modest home, I try and stay healthy, I work full time, I own everything in my home AND my car. The cost of living has went up so high and it seems that this is only the beginning. I stuggle each month with food, utilities, upkeep, insurance, house payments and the like. All of these things keep going up and up and my paycheck doesn't. It's not about material things anymore. We are tired of trying to keep up with the jones'. Now it's our basic survival at risk and we feel even that is threatened. Why are we unhappy? Ask all those in tent cities popping all around. Even if we aren't facing such hard times right now, reality is, next week, next month it could be us next at no fault of our own. It's a really big stress to deal with and it is reality.”

“Very good point. Those who so quickly "blame the victim" are too over represented in the self help psychology departments. Things happen to us all the time that dramaticaly affect our abilities, choices attitude which we are POWERLESS to control. Ask all the folks in Detroit who've watched capital move to Japan and China over the past 25 years.”

So I gave him my bill. 10 years of daycare, nurse, cab driver, accountant, cook, housekeeper, laundress, gardener, home decorator and the like. It came to about $250,000. He never said anything like that again :)”

Men seem to get lazy after being with the same women after a while and they no longer try and get her aroused prior, or heck, even during sex. They just feel "the need" take care of their "need" and then roll over and go to sleep.”

“Co ops are too small and not powerful enough to be able to even make a dent in the power that private insurance has. The ONLY viable, doable option is a government ran public option. The insurance companies have paid out their backsides to DC insiders to insure the public option isn't on the bill. Why? They know that it's the only real contender that would force them to actually insure people and not money.”

Cracking The Autism Riddle: Common Sense About Vaccines And Autism

Cracking The Autism Riddle: Common Sense About Vaccines And Autism

Commented Jun 24, 2009 at 09:00:39 in Living

“Dr Karp, you sidestepped the main issue we parents have about vaccines....thimerosol....mercury poisoning. If vaccinnes don't have anything to do with autism, why is it that the Amish children have no cases at all of autism? None of which is even remotely talked about in your statements here.”

Principaldad replied on Jun 24, 2009 at 12:50:21

“The doctor discussed thimerosal in a previous blog. There is no space to cover every single idea in every single blog. The doctor would have to write 20 books to debunk every single unproven, misleading, and false claim put out by vaccine critics.

Thimerosal is really not the "main issue" any longer as any possible relationship has been debunked. The amount of thimerosal in childhood vaccines is at pre-1950 levels and has been for several years, and that is if you include the optional flu shot that has thimerosal (and that flu shot is also available in thimerosal free version). Reducing the level even a little bit should have caused a corresponding drop in autism. Reducing it to 1950 levels should have caused rates to plummet. Despite this there has been no drop in autism.

As pointed out, your data about the Amish is false. Even if it were true, there are hundreds of differences between the Amish and the rest of the US population. It is ridicuIous to focus in on only one of those differences as a "cause".”

etthomas replied on Jun 24, 2009 at 10:15:50

“Thimerosal hasn't been included in routine vaccines since 2001 according to the American Journal of Public Health. Since the rate of autism hasn't decreases dramatically since 2001, but has in fact increased according to the Autism Society of America, I think your evidence is a bit flimsy. Ditto LOCUTUS13 on the Amish assertion.”

LOCUTUS13 replied on Jun 24, 2009 at 09:59:36

“Actually there was a post made here earlier that provided a link debunking your assertion. Many if not most Amish children do have vaccinations and have about the same rate of autism from what I have read so far. If I'm wrong please enlighten me.

Thanks”

In free markets, when one business becomes obsolete another one is invented. Why should US taxpayers pay for GM's global expanse? Because the CEO's are Americans? NOOOOO!”

“Have you ever meditated? Believe me when we say that we are NOT alone. The creator is ALWAYS with us, inside us, beside us. We are tired of the lies to control us, the guilt to make us slaves, the scare tactics to keep us needing "them". We are tired of our females supposedly being second class citizens, our futures planned out for us and our dreams crushed because they "aren't normal". We are tired of the judgements, the outcasting, the shameful retributions if you step out of line. Our inner spirits have awoken. We have a direct, constant report with our Creators. We are so far from "loners". We are one with you, your neighbor, my neighbor, the Africans, Asians, Europeans, Canadians. We love without boundries. We care without conditions. We are all and we are one. You are so far from our truth and it's a shame. Stop listening to the man behind the curtain, or the pulpit if you will, and start listening to your heart and head. God is there and waiting for your awakening too.”
