Michael Moore Calls Out ABC Labor Practices On "Good Morning America" (VIDEO)
Commented Sep 24, 2009 at 14:24:48 in Media
“I have no doubt that what Michael says about ABC is true. But as hinted to above, it's only half the story.
I worked for Michael for a short time, so I know this is a bit of the potbelly calling the kettle black. One of my responsibilities was to deal with the WGA and AFTRA's complaints about his company's refusal to pay invoices (and transitively, his refusal to properly remit what the union workers who worked for him were owed).
Michael's work is important, and he's almost always on the right side of the issue. His personal hypocrisy, however, continually leaves the door open for legitimate complaints.”

“I believe you when I see it. IF, and that is a big IF only part of that would be true, the repubs and the media would have had him for lunch, not to mention the Unions would have spoken out.
No way, I believe that Mr. Moore is a man of conviction, unless you proof me otherwise.”

“When I heard the clip, I was shocked how McCain's answer intimated that we can trust Obama to be a terrorist because he's not an Arab.
I'm sure, or at least I choose to believe McCain didn't mean that all Arabs must be mistrusted. Given that, his response spotlights an inability to speak with the sophistication and diplomacy that we woefully need in our next President. I was actually going to blog on this if I not read anyone touch pointing this out.”

“What seems most spectacular about Mayor Newsom is his determination to make a difference. Yes, he is clearly political, with obvious ambition that doesn't end at the Golden Gate, but again and again he will not just comment on hot-topic issues, but work to enact changes that in his eyes will be for the greater good.
Is he always right? Are you? Of course not. But with a heart and mind clearly in the right place, be it about rights for the homeless, minorities, homosexuals and the future of the earth, his efforts should be lauded and encouraged.
Can't wait to hear how he continues to improve the pollution quotient in dry cleaners.”

A Deadline for David Brooks

“David Brooks' review of the debate chose to focus on all the positive things about Palin and ignore the negative.
And Brooks recognizes the negative: quoting his editorial from the previous week: Palin "has not been engaged in national issues, does not have a repertoire of historic patterns and, like President Bush, she seems to compensate for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisivene ss."
You'd have to ask him why she looks so attractive a week later in a performance that would have been an utter failure had one of the other three candidates given it.
But why were you ignoring Roth and reading the review in the first place? You should have been out playing golf. With me.”

Palin's Great Achievement: She Didn't Stink Up the Joint

“As Paul knows, it's hard to get down a half hour script in a week. So yes, Palin should get points for her readiness. But what was clear is that she had to not answer questions that she had not prepared for, and unlike where she understood the beats of her convention speech, her delivery tonight was monotonal and lacked the contextual foundation of what she was espousing.
While it may have been safer for Biden to refrain from attacking her, I wanted him at least once to reply to one of her deriding Obama's votes or words to ask her what experience or qualifications she had to question Obama's opinions or votes?”

"Mom" For Vice President!

“One of my best friends is the daughter of Barbara Howar. Ms. Howar was a senior official for both the Kennedy and Johnson administrations, then went into broadcasting. She was on a similar career path to Barbara Walters back then, but obviously, Ms. Walters' broadcasting career took her much further. Many years later the two of them had lunch, and Howar admitted she was somewhat jealous of Walters' career climb. to which Ms. Walters replied, "Yes, but I've always been jealous about what a better mother you were than me."
Barbara Walters is not just an institution, her accomplishments led the way for an entire gender, in great thanks to her work ethic. Her children may have suffered, just in the way so many children have suffered because their dad is never home. We can't place our values on parenthood on others any more than they should be able to sublimate our values regarding choice, religion or marriage for all.
Oh. I guess if Ms. Palin wins, she does get it all.”

Israelis Weigh The Candiates, Palin's Church May Worry Them Most
Commented Sep 17, 2008 at 15:19:12 in Home
“Palin's church recently hosted David Brickner, exec director of Jews for Jesus. He described terrorist
attacks on Israelis as God's "judgment of unbelief" of Jews who haven't embraced Christianity. Palin
was in church that day. While when pressed she said she didn't follow that thought, it has been reported that Brickner and Palin's pastor are close friends and that he'd spoken at her church several times. Why didn't she voice disapproval at any of those visits? Why did she stay to hear his thought again and again?
How can one who cares about the future of Israel and/or the Jewish community vote for a woman who thinks or the man who chose her?”

“I agree. What does it mean when Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough and Andrea Mitchell are giving the same "advice" to Barack? He will not take the bait. Already even the ladies on "The View" did a better job questioning John McCain -- with direct questions -- than "Morning Joe" carnival of "journalists" ever have, this morning.

Barack is centered, patient and will not take the BAIT. We on the left, should not be egging him on to do precisely what Republicans NEED him to do -- to caricature him to satisfy Mark Penn/Karen Hughes' failed Hillary Clinton strategic plan from the Primaries (yes, Huges works for Mark Penn since May for the Palin Campaign relay from Hillary, no doubt).
We should continue to put pressre on the MSM to do their job, which seems to be working. Excepting Andrea Mitchell (taking out her lipstick to show solidarity re a LIE, inappropriately - for two days), it seems Charlie Gibson got the message this isn't about his taxes but the legitimacy of ABCNews, which already lost the debates. That is a better use of our energy, not triangulating our Candidate (aka Clinton Inc./Liebe rman w/the Repubs).
As Arianna posted -- we will ALL have a RIGHTEOUS ANGER that will not be denied. Barack is enrolling ALL Americans in his Campaign and to join the fight for our Country -- and should not be ONLY his job.”

Vetting Joe Biden: My Conversation With His Classmate

“Christina, the man you described, one who can't help but fumble, would never garner the respect Sen. Biden has with leaders at the pentagon, the halls of congress, and foreign governments.
As for the 'gaffes' you cite...
Perhaps you are unaware that in previous speeches during his first presidential run, Biden cited the quote to Neil Kinnick. Or that past the light of a competitive race against Sen. Obama, his comment about the candidate is considered completely benign and complimentary. And while the Dunkin' Donuts comment was clearly a mistake, would you be more apt to trust a man who sings, "Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb bomb Iran?:"
Once someone gets a reputation for something, it's difficult to break, be it Gerry Ford's clumsiness -- he wasn't -- or Biden, a man of supreme intellect, being labelled a gaffer. Especially when his competitors hope that their efforts in such branding -- the RNC website has a "TIME SINCE LAST BIDEN GAFFE" clock -- will lead well intentioned folks like you to fear his involvement in this process.”
