Rahm Emanuel: Don't Worry About the Left

Rahm Emanuel: Don't Worry About the Left

Commented Dec 19, 2009 at 11:17:53 in Politics

“We are entering the first phase in a failed empire. Costs of maintaining the world wide empire that we have established via the Pentagon with Army, Navy, and Air Force bases in almost every country of any importance costs way more than we can afford. We then sacrifice our own well being to prop up these bases hence underfunded education crumbling schools bridges roads and K-12 teachers on food stamps!, Municipal water treatment and delivery systems breaking down , fire and police departments facing layoffs, prison system costs exploding in every state yet Limaugh, Hannity, O'Riely and Beck now want a third front fighting Iran as if two costly wars are not enough to totally bankrupt the U.S.!!Senators like McCain and Kyl oppose each and every domestic investment so they can continue to spend on empire! When our elected officials venture out into the real world they are scoffed at as was Palin in Canada, and Imhoff in Copenhagen ( a German reporter walked away from him calling him "ridiculous"). Why do we continue to vote against our own best interests? 99% of us would be better off with a comprehensive single payer health care system but....? Why do we even give global warming opponents a forum to spout lies and stupid opinions? Corporate $$$$$$ controls the press, (yah like there really is a LIBERAL MSM!) and $$$$ totally control our government. No more proof is needed than the smirk on Rahm Emanuels face!”

"Choice" has been a big part of the democratic platform since the seventies, at least.

They really should cut him off, primary him, and let him spend all his lobbyist cash, trying to get re-elected.”

Commented Dec 18, 2009 at 08:45:31 in Politics

“The colossal blunder was not realizing that the house bill ought to pass as is and reconciliation was the only avenue to passage of ANY BILL in the Senate! Now we are stuck with a Senate bill that not only does nothing to improve our miserable system but in fact actually may make it WORSE! I am trying to reconcile the improvement that allowing the insurance companies to deny coverage based on "pre-existing conditions "as opposed to charging a person making $40,000 a year $27,000 for coverage ( based on $9,000 policy and a 300% premium allowed under this bill). Better yet if the person opts out he faces a PENALTY! Give me the devil I know rather than the devil I don't know KILL THIS BILL and pass the house version. Obama shame on you for ducking out and failure to lead on your signature campaign message!”

“The 'lets pass any bill" crowd say but.but.but. X number of people will be covered! What they don't say is YES , but at a cost so high that they will probably end up paying the penalty tax as the cost of lousy insurance IS STILL TOO HIGH! They have forced insurance companies to do away with the pre existing condition clause but failed to limit the cost of premiums so the insurance companies will cover you but at a premium that is 300 times higher, yes 300 times ! If Lieberman can decide against something without knowing what it is but that because a liberal likes it it he must oppose it than we can safely assume that if the health insurance industry likes this bill it is probably bad for us! The restriction that heath insurance companies had to spend 90% of their income on health care costs instead of millions of dollars toward bonuses and presidential salaries -GONE! Safe are the millions they can give (bribe) legislators ! Governor Dean is right! Kill this useless bill , can every legislator that took a stand against the public good and campaign on this and this alone until we get a congress that will pass UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE!”

Nelson Still Undecided On Health Care

Commented Dec 16, 2009 at 11:15:32 in Politics

“Howard Dean is right, if we fail to achieve any measure of meaningful restraint on the corrupt practices of the Health Insurance industry we may never have a second chance as the opposition to change will have been much emboldened! I much prefer the stance that the opposition to improvement, and the staunch defenders of the current system, ought to be made to run on this platform in the next election cycle! I am always amazed and somewhat puzzled by the Republican opposition to every domestic bill having to be revenue neutral, war expenditures , however, well the sky's the limit, actually they have no limits! How can that be!?”

I strongly feel that like Senator Baucus he see the financial rewards that await opponents of health care if they choose to become FULL TIME advocates for the Pharmaceutical, Heath Insurance,or AMA forces etc.Face it they can make millions instead of the peanuts incumbent Senators make and they don't have to run a campaign!”

Clarity of purpose results when a man can take and hold a position based solely upon his reasoning and not the consequences of his actions! To prove my point just observe the actions of second term presidents or , even better , ex-presidents. Evidence the outrage H.W. I have never , ever, heard any one in congress admit that they had not read, nor personally discussed, pending legislation before forming an opinion! The other day in an interview he began by saying "I heard that the bill..." WoW! Now he admitted openly because a progressive democrat liked it he had to oppose it! I would imagine the sight of children under the age of 12 lugging AK47's around in the streets of Iraq and Afghanistan warm your the cockles of your heart yes? I am a always amazed at the misinterpretation of the second amendment, words meant to allow the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT to raise and maintain an army (militia) apart of the states somehow becomes in the carefully edited NRA version as an individual right.I find that ODD! Here in Arizona the zealots that are the NRA ( the Past President lives in Tucson) now want to abolish the right of any business or office from restriction guns on their property even schools.
