Brooke Hires Lawyer And Wants To RECONCILE With Charlie Sheen

“My impression is that Sheen is a narcissist, the old lady bi-polar, the kids in a lousy situation, and the lawyers both lying dirt bags. But hey, two of the adults are self serving celebrities and the other two lawyers. What can one expect?

The authorities should make the spouses pay dearly for their abominable spousal behavior.”

“Corporate personae go blithely about destroying intelligent life in the Amazon Jungle. If your Jovian lunar microbe got in the way of immense corporate profit, it would be brushed aside without a thought. Only if it were perceived as worth sacks of money, which it probably would be initially, would it survive. That is the way with life in our universe.”

Women on the Verge

Commented Dec 27, 2009 at 10:40:16 in Politics

“Abortion is a very complex and difficult issue. If resolution the entire matter of the health care crisis here in the US depended on the management of abortion expenses, the debate could on indefinitely. The largest issues of the crisis are universal access and the destructive effect that corporate control of the system has on the national economy. Piratically speaking, these are the issues that should drive the debate toward any resolution.

That being what it is, political ideology and money are what are driving the current process of addressing the crisis. There are 17 women in the sitting US Senate, four of whom are Republicans. The four Republicans voted against the Senate bill, as they would against any Senate bill, for political reason. The thirteen Democratic Senators who are women voted for the bill for political reasons (and in some cases for monetary reasons as well). I strongly doubt that the abortion issue as framed by Nelson played much of a roll.”

“This stuff gets real interesting when Jewish law comes into play, with the disincentive its interpretation creates for the donation of organs from deceased Jews whose survivors follow the dictates of religious law. I glibly thought when reading this article of whether there were such things as kosher and non-kosher organs. But a little reading on the subject bought me to understand that there are genuine issues in these matters.

I decided though, that when money comes into play - and I mean big bucks, all discretion is thrown to the winds.”

Sharon McDonough Held On $100,000 Bail For Suspected Pet Torture

“Everything I have read about this woman indicates that she had serious psychological problems. There were six daughters living with her, and a son is mentioned in having turned her in for the animal abuse. How many children did she have? Was she in an economic condition to care for them? Was there also child abuse here? Just having exposed those who lived with her to the abuse of animals must have had a severe negative effect on them. There is no spouse mentioned. Many of the comments here appear to come from animal lovers, and I can understand their distress, but there is a lot more in this matter than has been reported.

The comments on the story are far too presumptive and superficial, and the reporting presented here is really anemic. Is it just an example of the promotion and consumption of sensationalist press?”

jl4141 replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 14:36:43

“You are spot-on. Animal hoarders/killers/abusers like this almost always think they are doing good for the poor creatures. It is a deep psychological malady. That said, I don't think I agree with the bail -- bail is meant to ensure that the defendant comes to court, not to punish in advance of a conviction. It can also be meant to protect others -- and in this case that probably would include animals -- but that would assume she would go right back to abusing animals, even if avoiding all contact with animals in her home would be a condition of bail. That's a lot to assume.”

BeansAndGreens replied on Dec 19, 2009 at 11:16:21

“richsmith, in this case, we need to stop wringing our hands over whether or not this woman is mentally ill, and instead call her what she is: evil. Regardless of why she did what she did, it is far more important to focus on what she did. She tortured and killed dozens of animals. That is all that matters, and that is the crime for which she must be punished. This monstrous person must never leave prison.

One other thing. "Animal lovers" is a silly term. You do not need to "love" animals to be opposed to their cruel treatment. I would like to think that any decent person is outraged by this horrific crime.”

Here's my fear, my nightmare.

The Republican party leaders, not withstanding the fact that a good number of them are as dumb as dirt, will realize how much anger and loathing this industry friendly bill will invoke in a large segment of the Democrat voting base and will provide just enough of its members to vote to pass it. Many in the US will then be stuck with a mandate, for which non-compliance is punishable by law, to either pore their own money directly into the pockets of the Corporate Health Care swine if they make anything close to a living wage, or have the Federal Government pore that money into the swines' pockets from the National coffers.

Never mind that the US hurdles on toward economic ruin, and the unemployment and related economic mayhem continues to expand. The fools in the White House will continue to celebrate their health care victory up to that point where a seething wave of odium votes them back into a minority........”

“Nonsense, priusdrive.

You've got this one wrong.

At retirement age, I personally don't have to worry about health care. I'm more interested in the welfare of my children and the stability and solvency of the nation they live in. Without some form of public option, this bill will be essentially garbage. The President is now the problem, not John Dean. Obama has chosen his advisors badly (and not just with health care) and he has led this effort (or perhaps not led it) badly. Dean was a principal force in the resurgence of the Dem Party with his grass roots organizing.

Don't even try belittling Dean's accomplishments or wisdom. In fact, he's the only MD in this bout of Democrat infighting. I certainly trust his opinion, which has been completely ignored by the Admin. I haven't the least bit of trust in opinion of that truculent , out of touch, and incompetent Rahm Emanuel.”

priusdriver replied on Dec 16, 2009 at 17:09:17

“1st of all his name is Howard Dean, not John Dean.

and if you care about your children, then you should be in favor of this bill. i'm not belittling Dr. Dean's accomplishments. i'm merely pointing out what his experience has been in governing.

he's not in the senate, nor has ever been. he's not in the house, nor has ever been. he's not the president, nor has ever been. this is not controversial or insulting, just the truth.

if you believe standing on principle while abandoning the best chance to insure 30 million uninsured americans is a better place to be, then by all means go for it. but i want this bill, b/c i know it will help me and many, many others. and i stand by my president, who is working within the system (and senators) that exist today, not in the fantasy of a perfect future.

But the cold hard fact is that he's not in the game -- and if this legislation tanks it's the end of the conversation for the foreseeable future, in all likelihood.

If you're retired, you've been watching politics for while, I'm assuming. Have you ever seen a major, hotly contested piece of legislation like this come back to life in a short period of time if it dies in the first go round? I've been watching since the early 80's and I haven't.”
