“I miss Eudora on the Mac. The BBEdit of email clients. It had the search capabilities of BBEdit, or at least, in storing your inbox as a text file on your HD, allowed you to really find stuff. I pretty much keep my business records in my gmail account. I have relied on it as my filing system, in a sense. I feel too vulnerable doing that nowadays. I've got to download my inboxes. AFAIK, google's 'data liberation' policy (google it, please) does not cover downloading one's inbox. So, I cross my fingers, mainly, and have started archiving on my own, in-house hardware. If you're serious about maintaining back ups, it's the only thing you can control. Even if you resort to fire safes and so on, you are at least in control.more so than you are when dealing with a shady character like this Brin.
Everything is backwardz these days. Just assume that when someone says their motto is 'don't be evil,' they are stating something that most of us take for granted. ask why they don't seem to know that simple fact: EVIL is NOT the default, Brin. Not for us, anyway.”

“Like the Label system and being able to associate events with emails from particular senders or containing certain content? Those work pretty well already.”
“Shorting on the opening also usually takes some connections. They might ask him how he was able to borrow enough shares from the underwriters to have a significant short position at opening. Many had announced they wouldn't have shares available until after three day settlement period.”
“Companies can't find the people with the skills they need?
How about training instead of complaining.
Has this guy ever given a speech or interview where he didn't come off as a complete creep?”

“Why should they train employees who should already have the general knowledge that is needed? I was in graduate school and I can tell you that on average the Indians and Chinese are better educated in mathematics and science. Americans are more interested in business and finance.”

“If companies train people they won't have an excuse to hire foreigners with H1B visas at half the pay. Can't have that, now can we? Its a win-win for the company. They get to eliminate their training budget and hire foreigners for half what they'd pay Americans.”
“Yes, when I have seen butter mentioned in the articles I realize the author knows absolutely nothing about this disease. I could eat three pounds of butter tonite and my blood sugar wouldn't move a point. Saturated fat? Yes, just like the meats many of these other chefs are still touting. Contributes to obesity- Possibly. Plenty of skinny european chefs using plenty of butter.
Very complex disease, but the simple minded PC crowd loves to reprimand.”

“you are simpleminded.
The combination of butter fat and sugar is deadly to diabetics.”
“According to the TV talking heads and "legal" experts, Casey Anthony's Attorney was incompetent , until of course his client was found not guilty and then in their collective amnesia, they were falling all over themselves to praise him. Why can't they just let things play out and report? Their uninformed insights and pitiful gotcha attempts are really not helpful or informative.”

“Nobody is falling all over themself to praise Casey Anthony's Attorney. That idea right there is a nonstarter.”
