“Good point. It's unlikely we'll not learn from our previous campaigns. Instead, some are continually biting at the bit to increase business, as you say. The war business grows, but Americans' collective memory is short. The mistakes of the last eight years should be in the forefront as we move forward in this endless "war on terror". I believe the war industry is counting on American's short memory.”

The whole point of "worrying" about climate change is that it will harm US humans not the Earth. The Earth will survive this without a scratch. It has gone through worse on it's own. Look up Snow Ball Earth, or look up Messinian Event, and there are so many more. The Earth is constantly changing and will continue to change, we are the ones in trouble.

What we are doing is accelerating the natural changes making them "un-natural" thus faster and more dangerous --to us. Fast paced climate change could destroy our civilization, leading to mass deaths and suffering for humans as a result of war, starvation, and rampant diseases. The Earth will see some extinctions as it always does, but it will trot along in its millions of years and continue to evolve as has happened many times before. Please learn some Earth history because you heart is in the right place, but your mind... is a bit starved for knowledge.”

All right, seriously. The politicians aren't to blame. We elected them. In order to stay elected, they need our future support. We seem to have a powerful desire not to have to sacrifice much to remedy global warming. When confronted with a choice between sacrifice and GW solutions, we often end up with a third choice, saying there is no global warming problem.

Somebody is likely to come along and say the solution to acidic oceans is merely adding some alkaline. That's how it goes.”
