The war mongers of the Bush years were incapable of waging a passive war with the fortune they spent where they could have shorn up ecurity in this country and elsewhere. “Good point. It's unlikely we'll not learn from our previous campaigns. Instead, some are continually biting at the bit to increase business, as you say. The war business grows, but Americans' collective memory is short. The mistakes of the last eight years should be in the forefront as we move forward in this endless "war on terror". I believe the war industry is counting on American's short memory.”

“Yes and he has been a voice trying to make the rest of the world take notice of the issues. We have been talking about pollution since I can remember. That was when I was in high school in 1972....al most 30 years and how much progress has been made? The issue isn't Al Gore's investments it's in the worldwide studies independent ones concurring that there is a problem. When the roof on a house starts to show signs of leakage and termite wear you don't wait until there's no roof left you deal with the problems.”

“The best climate control for this planet would be for the human race to disappear. Of course that is a drastic and rather extreme comment but what will make humans realize that they have absolutely no regard for the havoc being wreaked by them nor do they understand the wasting of a world that they depend upon and truly do not have dominion over? We are the worst and biggest parasitic force sucking the life from the earth. We do not deserve this wonderful place. We do not merit it in any way . And yet we treat it like a doormat. If the human race were to become extinct perhaps then the earth would have a chance of healing... maybe.”
fofu01 replied on Dec 18, 2009 at 12:22:25
“You are just as bad as the deniers, but you are an extremist on the opposite side(and equally uninformed). The whole point of "worrying" about climate change is that it will harm US humans not the Earth. The Earth will survive this without a scratch. It has gone through worse on it's own. Look up Snow Ball Earth, or look up Messinian Event, and there are so many more. The Earth is constantly changing and will continue to change, we are the ones in trouble.
What we are doing is accelerating the natural changes making them "un-natural" thus faster and more dangerous --to us. Fast paced climate change could destroy our civilization, leading to mass deaths and suffering for humans as a result of war, starvation, and rampant diseases. The Earth will see some extinctions as it always does, but it will trot along in its millions of years and continue to evolve as has happened many times before. Please learn some Earth history because you heart is in the right place, but your mind... is a bit starved for knowledge.”

“Greenism in a nutshell: Malthusian, anti-human, suicidal "life boat" economics, carrying capacity, imminent catastrophe. If, indeed the earth would be better off and have a "chance to heal" by the disappearance of the human race, then the Greenist devotees, particularly those elitists whose carbon footprint is so much, much, bigger than most others, (what with yachts, corporate jets, limousines, mansions and what not) should lead the way and shuffle off their mortal coil, thereby practicing what they preach. After all, as Burke said, example is the best school of humanity.”

All right, seriously. The politicians aren't to blame. We elected them. In order to stay elected, they need our future support. We seem to have a powerful desire not to have to sacrifice much to remedy global warming. When confronted with a choice between sacrifice and GW solutions, we often end up with a third choice, saying there is no global warming problem.
Somebody is likely to come along and say the solution to acidic oceans is merely adding some alkaline. That's how it goes.”

“The picture of that woman does not read homeless. displaced, worried or stressed. It reads comfortable and her story albeit a sad one still says she has family to depend upon and resources. How bad is her situation? Is she renting some where but wants her own house back? What are the particulars of her situation? What makes her life situation more dire than another's? This is not a starving family out in the cold. She appears to have resources.”

“The prison was built probably before Katrina when everything was in tack. The economy was better at the time maybe. Our economy is in the dumpster temporarily so far and projects in Iraq were started long before this disaster. Of course the war was being waged before Katrina. But the overall point is there is no profit margin for investment in this area. Who can make money from poorer people? You argument should just be it's wrong for this to continue. The government has always helped restore order in disaster zones. My goodness they rebuild frequently in areas like tornado zones all the time. The argument is our government did nothing about it when it happened ie Bush and it has become the lost child of this century.”
