A New Wrinkle in the JFK Assassination Story
Commented Oct 30, 2009 at 11:15:34 in Books
“I don't know how ravaged my mind would have been if the leader of my country had ben gunned down, Nor would I know how certain I would be of trusting those around me. I will never beleieve that Kennedy was assisinated by a lone gunman. The 1960's were made for cover-up, clandestine behavior, and murder. The mentality or naivete of the people were such that it could believe the President's murderer being assasinated and then that assasin being murdered withouit a blink of an eye. All the good guys got gunned down in such a short period of time. I don't think it was all that random !!
This anecdote reveals how haunting the moment was for all those immediately afffected by Kennedy's murder. It wasn't a lucky shot of just one man's gun.”

“While you're at would you please delineate your complete outline for how things should be done right now. Would you post you health care plan, what you would have done about the economic crisis and how you would handle the wars. I doubt you would have too much trouble doing all this.
And would you also tell me where you got your crystal bal to make all your predictions.By the way the fact that you took up your posting criticizing Obama's followers would suggest a rethug streak or there abouts. Do you think you could give this President a bit more time before you condemn him totally and stop making similar judgments on people that you know nothing about?”

“Of course, anytime anyone is critical he must have rethug streaks. ;-)
I am well aware Obama inherited a mess from the worst president in history. I don't expect miracles but I did expect he would do everything that is possible that is in his power to affect. First and foremost this must include the key appointments in economic sphere since we are in an economic crisis of disastrous proportion. What does he do? He appoints Wall Street banksters agents to run our economic policies. If that is the kind change you voted for that is fine with me, but it is not what I voted for.
You go ahead and disagree with me all you want but please do not cast needless aspersions in the exact way that Republicans have been doing because that makes you no different then them. I believe we can disagree in a agreeable manner, don't you? ;-)”

“Ariana was premature with her comment. The story ended with the parents' interview after the little rug rat was found. All these prolonged coverages are overdone. But some merit completion. It's live entertainment just like the monotonous OJ chase. Ho hum.
But I take fault more so with Ariana on her Joe Biden article. I think was more about a sensational idea being thrown around than a genuine one. He argument was not sound. Biden is not voicing his opinion based on a moral objection. His is not a conscientious object of any make her. His argument isn't based on a sole principle but on the financial feasibility and the reality of actually winning the war.
There's a time for being controversial and this was not one of those times. Biden's view on the war is merely his opinion as someone with 30 years of experience in gov't and a specialty in foreign affairs. He's not a Pete Seegers singing against the wqar. He's stating practical reasons for not continuing the way we are going.”

“It's the man he is and his beliefs. It's the fact he is head of one of the most powerful countries in the world .He doesn't use his position to muscle the world like Bush did. He's using it to try to affect better results. He practices his beliefs in every thing as much as possible. Even when a bloated, redfaced legislator calls him a liar in a joint session of Congress his eyes flashed anger but he let the bile induce from this slob recede. He went back to his speech. Over a summer and still hateful posters and name calling, being told his failure is at the heart of many republican s,etc etc, the cop and professor incident, his trips to Cairo, through out President Obama maintains a civility and dignity and strength. He calls for nuclear disarmament, he challenges all international members to do the right thing. He has become an international force because there is no one like him. This doesn't come at a low cost. To give him this award is to thank him for these efforts so far and to say to the world we need more people like Obama. And this country can't even stop for a moment and say gee aren't we lucky he's ours. There are a lot of countries that would like to have a leader like him.”

“And where did you study crystal ball gazing ? President Obama has already accomplished more than you and I could. He's president of a world power. He's shown the courage to use that power toward causes that the last administration ignored like crazy. He has begun to affect attitude change from countries that always gave us the cold shoulder.
Have you seen the polls on favor ability from countries that have been in the 10 to 20 % zone during Bush's administration. Just because there isn't a big ta-dah moment doesn't mean this award should not bee given to him. Name another international leader who has the attention he has.
This award highlights a man who wants world peace. It doesn't ask him to stop being the President of his country. He was making decisions about the wars he inherited from Bush before he got the award and it didn't seem to affect the outcome of the Nobel PP Committee.
Premature or Precisely of the Moment...you don't know......he just received it yesterday ...unless you can time travel it's all conjecture.”

You argue that he deserves the award for the attention he's gotten. I don't think that puts him on a par with MLK, do you?”

“Yes and Pete Seeger has had such an international impact. As much as it is true that Pete Seeger is who he is...why don't you ask him what he thinks of your posting? I don't think he would agree with you at all. Making peace isn't about becoming a hero or a popularity contest. It's doing it for the sake of it. You miss the point in all of your righteous call out for Pete Seeger. I'm sure Mr. Seeger's scope is much larger than yours.
AS for President Obama's receiving this award ? He has chose to sacrifice his life to serve this country and to serve the world. He has tried to move people to think in the international community to promote changes for peace. He has taken a voice of hope and concern .He has followed his beliefs in policy making and deliberately reached out to our enemies. He has used his position to make peace an international goal. May be if Pete Seeger had become president he could have made more impact. Or if Obama could have been a great folk singer his life struggle would have been more worthy. I think they both have been doing what life provided them with. It's not your place or mine to say which is worthier. Just to know they are worthy men.”

He has? I don't think so.
What he has chosen to sacrifice are the lives of hard-working, struggling Americans, the gay community, our men and women in uniform, principles of civil liberties, and principles of the US Constitution, all to keep from rattling the cage and upsetting the wealthy and powerful.
And it is very much our place to speak our minds and voice our opinions... such is the bedrock on which America stands... or used to.”

“It 's never a bad time to give hope for peace a boost. And President Obama by virtue of who he is tells us basically why he is is our President. He has kept a strong eye on how America has been seen in the world. And what our performance has been up until he got into office. The world believes his words because they believe him. That's powerful. He has backed up his beliefs with actions and words. Don't under estimate his influence outside the US and how important it is. Take a tour of the world and see how he is seen. It's very small of anyone to dismiss this award as premature. The reactions to it seem to be the thing that is as green as envy can get.
Mother Theresa focused on an aspect of humanity and its needs. She wasn't looking for any glory or playing with such intricate relationships as presidents do. Nuclear warfare wasn't a part of her day to day life. It's not very fair to compare one hero to another . The battlefields are not the same ever.
The President was nominated for this but the voting took place just recently . Intolerance and quick judgments are really stupid. Missing the lesson embody in this is unfortunate. It would be interesting if you could get Mother Theresa 's take on it.......don't you think???”

“Everyone is occupied lookingfor the reasons this award is so wrong. It belongs to President Obama. It was awarded by a panel that believes he deserves it. No harm has been done. It highlights the man and his use of his official influence in the world. He's not stirring the pot.On the contrary he is turning the heat way down under the crazy soup of international politics. He wants to show America's desire to participate rather than to dominate. His duty to serving humanity is well known. His speech in Cairo exemplifies this. This award highlights his rare gifts and stake in the world.
Obama does not operate on automatic pilot. He thinks. He has a conscience that embraces many levels of thought and humanity.
Sour pusses will always be sour pusses. The world sees hope in our President. The Nobel Prize is a Klieg light shining on him and what he stands for. This an award for achievement not destruction. Sour pusses do not embrace hope or the positive... proof: their hero was Bush. We can't afford in these times of such unsteadiness to waste this opportunity through miserly and vicious bickering. The Nobel Prize was given exactly to the right man at the right time...and the proof is in the reaction of all the destructive words of the sour pusses, the ones who want to obstruct hope and positive achievement.”

“I know this is hard for obsessives to believe, but actually some republicans did not like Bush and think he not only did not act like a conservative [reduce spending, avoid overseas entanglements, lower taxes, cut bureaucracy] he did harm through his abuse of civil rights.
However, this constant harping on Bush is getting a little strained. Who cares about Bush? If I don't like Obama for his policies, it has nothing to do with Bush.
And sour pusses? How about a rational belief that there were better qualified persons who needed the money and world wide focus on their lifes work? Why waste it on a politician?”

“Nobody ever really bothers to see all this mess as generational hand me downs. All the things that are so vital to a happy existence or at least a stable one emotionally are never addressed at the level where they all begin. If parents are equipped maybe some sort of educational program could. Children do spend an immense number of hours in the classroom. Why not figure out a non-evasive, non threatening program where kids learn the right and wrong of socializing, basic human values, self worth and self empowerment? So much of this is left up to learn when kids hit the their twenties. Quality of life needs to be learned way before hand to prepare for their launch into society. To challenge kids early on to reflect upon their actions and decisions is as important as all the rest of their education. Often no one is there to answer the toughest questions.Self-reliability and self acceptance as school subjects might help our society a lot.”

“Sometimes acknowledging what you are doing or adding a ritual aspect to it can heighten the idea of presence and purpose. Verbalizing makes a different type of connection ..at times. It heightens the connection. I don't think it's a silly notion to do it. It just doesn't seem like something everyone would approach doing because of a discomfort level or lack of this kind of interest. How much verbalizing takes place in sex? How many of us feels it breaks a mood ? People nixing this obviously can't even open their minds to the possibility to it being something beneficial. This isn't a replacement on how to have sex. It's another approach. More directed with perhaps worthwhile effects. I don't see how anyone can kabosh something that they haven't tried. This approach makes us more vulnerable and more truthful with our partners. It is definitely more sharing. It's amusing that all the sexually sophisticated would be afraid of something that could possibly bring them to a level of sexual pleasure they have yet to know.”
