“The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows that 25% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-six percent (46%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -21 That’s the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. Drive these losers into the 30% approval range.”

“hate to break the news to you but the Rasmusses poll is owned by Fox News, now that says it all!!! They have already been found out as skewing their polls to the right and asking questions that would lead to right wing answers... .I also think what most ppl on this post are unaware of is that Pres. Obama is smart like a fox and knows EXACTLY what he is doing!! I'll be waiting ot see how everyone's tune changes in about 18 months when the reality of our President's leadership becomes apparents. ..he is exactly the kind of leader that is needed..he knows when to delegate and when to sit back and let ppl do the jobs they are supposed to do :-)”

“I am so sick of that talking point. Americans of any color, race or religion can hie themselves out to the farms in the midwest and to californa and into the kitchens of restaurants if they were willing to do the back breaking work that these business owners only want to pay pennies for. Are you willing to do that? Really is any American? I don't see illegals on Wall street, I don't see them in the technology sector, I don't see them in prime manufacturing jobs. I see them in the fields and the sweat shops and kitchens doing work that NO American wants to do unless they can make $25/hour.
You want to keep illegals out, you find a way to make corporate farms and restauranteurs pay a living wage.”

Mostly, there is the former because there is the latter. I say arrest a few CEO's from companies that profit so heavily from exploiting working people, and start addressing the problem that way. Go to the source of the problem.”

winchestereast replied on Dec 17, 2009 at 11:11:36
“a universal medicare buy-in would cover us all at a reasonable cost - lack of government control has not produced competition - the few big private insurances run a monopoly nation wide - they control smaller units with other names - no one bargains with them - lets them pay physicians less, cover fewer sick people, charge whatever they want, - Repeal of Glass Steagall in the financial world was supposed to invigorate that sector by de-regulating- how's that working out for you? Take a couple of years to study markets and economics before you post”

Commented Dec 17, 2009 at 10:50:49 in Politics
“So as we approach the final Democrat legislation for health care reform, obamacare, it turns out not to be reform at all. Rather strict regulation and control of health care by the Democrats through a form of corporatist economic planning in which the legal forms of private ownership of industry are nominally preserved but in which both the public and capitalists are obliged to submit their plans and objectives to state regulation and extensive wage and price controls, which are designed to insure the priority of the political leadership's objectives over the private economic interests of the citizens. So under obamacare health care markets are allowed to operate only in a non-competitive, cartelized, and governmentally "rigged" fashion empowering politicians, eliminating competition and guarantying profits for a protected industry.”

Vietnam without the jungles and insects? Vietnam without China sending in endless reinforcements? Vietnam without the support of Russia?
That's a Vietnam we might easily have won, in.
As to what we're fighting for, I'd say we are fighting for an Afghanistan AND a Pakistan who are competent to confront and control their own extremists. If Pakistan doesn't get to that point, If Afghanistan becomes a haven for Taliban and Al Qaida, the chance of Pakistan falling to the terrorists is more than slight, and the consequent risks more than minor.
To spell out the risk to us, who do you think the terrorists will blackmail or attack, using the nukes they would capture with Pakistan? Who but the "Great Satan?"
