A freer market, with less government control, less competition blocking regulations and hugely increased competition and the resulting consumer control would greatly improve the health care system.”

As to what we're fighting for, I'd say we are fighting for an Afghanistan AND a Pakistan who are competent to confront and control their own extremists. If Pakistan doesn't get to that point, If Afghanistan becomes a haven for Taliban and Al Qaida, the chance of Pakistan falling to the terrorists is more than slight, and the consequent risks more than minor.
To spell out the risk to us, who do you think the terrorists will blackmail or attack, using the nukes they would capture with Pakistan? Who but the "Great Satan?"
