The Senate's "Starter Home" Health Reform
Commented Dec 31, 2009 at 14:05:58 in Politics
“The only thing we desperately need is for everything to be in place and working before and by 2011.
SO GET A MOVE ON AND GET BUSY.
Otherwise there will be more obstruction in 2012 and the possibility of repeal - IMAGINE THAT ?”

“Not only should they pay hefty taxes for 2009 but they should be required to refile for previous 3 years of stealing from the investors and disclose their bonuses for further taxation.
High taxation for these gamblers should stay in place until they police themselves and reduce their salaries to a more modest, and less blatant/greedy, figure.
One wonders what exactly they do with all of this dough ? You really can only spend so much.
Apart from anything else - we need the money in the Government kitty not their overseas hideaway.”

“Can you get the word to Obama that he needs to tighted the screws in so many areas.
.... otherwise we are going to lose next time around and that would be a disaster.
Bush shoved stuff down our throats whether we liked it or not - the Dems needs to start being much more forceful to save us all. A few earmarks erased and more signing statements copying the era of GWB. Appointments being enforced during recess - come on, let's prove that WE CAN !
Security needs to be enforced radically - too bad if you don't like it.
Healthcare needs to start w/Public Option ASAP so that it can't be repealed.
Boots on the ground here Arianna.”

“Unfortunately - the way Washington works - is a dyed in the wool system.
THAT'S WHAT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED.
Everyone is working from Day1 to get re-elected so that they can collect bennies for as long as possible. They are not working for us, the voter, we don't provide enough money for the election process.
Every wondered why we only have lawyers working in both houses ?
Other countries have Politicains who are/were accountants, business managers, engineers, architects, councilmen and women etc - in fact, from all walks of life so that their view is much more generalized and they do not allow this constant pressure from lobbyists.
WE NEED TO STOP LOBBYISTS WRITING OUR LAWS - like, YESTERDAY.”

Laserbeam, what a great post - choices have EVERYTHING to do with it.
I am totally in favor of making men's healthcare as costly and circuitous as womens - deny, deny, deny ... embarass, humiliate and more denials. See how they like it?
Your are so right, this law was already in place - there was no need for al this fuss. Nelson and Leiberman are looking for Brownie points with the church and in heaven. What they don't realize is - they are going into the fiery pit for inhumane treatment of all of us "Marys"
In any event, how would a young woman KNOW that she might need an abortion down the road ? It's such a ridiculous argument.
These old men need to retire and SOON.”

“I don't think that's right. I'm no physician, but I think anencephalic fetuses usually survive the pregnancy, but don't live long afterward. They essentially have no brain. But that shouldn't increase the risk to the mother. And 11 weeks is still first trimester; termination at that point should be fairly simple, and shouldn't cost 9k. Maybe I'm missing something.”

“If the middle class is disappearing, which I don't dispute, they are the folks who pay most of the taxes to support the infrstructure of the US.
Some of the people at the top are going to have to vote themselves some serious pay and benefit cuts as there won't be anyone to pay taxes.
We will be having a revolt if they allow themselves a cost of living increase.
We are dying down here - hasn't anyone noticed.”

Somehow they think that just because she is a female and "a hockey mom just like us" she will do some kind of wonder woman job as a Prez.
The opposite is frighteningly true - she is internationally ignorant, would cut all of our social services and eduation - dismantle so many good programs that are run by the government - it would be a total disaster and very, very scary.
She is better off (and so are we) if she sticks to shopping, fishing and hunting.”
